  1. I'll go with Nantz. I'm not really a fan of Madden. I can appreciate what he did historically, but I'm not old enough to have listened to him during his prime. When I was really getting into my Bills fandom by the 2000s he only offered up the most banal comments and the game had passed him by.
  2. Why would I take a bet where YOU are wagering MY house? Bet your own house! Maybe Kupp is ok with being underpaid by ~10 million this year. He's still being paid 15 million to play a game. If he was going to complain about it and squeeze the Rams for every penny I think he would've done so by now (see: veteran-deal WRs Adams, Hill, Diggs or rookie-deal WRs Samuel, Brown, McLaurin).
  3. 1 - Those guys are on their rookie contracts. Diggs was on an already lucrative 2nd contract. 2- No harm has been done to the teams yet - missing voluntary practice is meaningless 3- The most underpaid veteran WR in the NFL has to be Cooper Kupp. I've yet to see a report that he's looking to re-work his contract
  4. With the insane inflation we're seeing at QB contracts I have to wonder if Allen and Mahomes will be content with theirs or if they'll demand a new deal. Josh's 6 year deal doesn't kick in until next season, and he'll probably be underpaid by at least 10 million that season. By year 6 he could easily be underpaid by 25+ million.
  5. Personally I'd put Panarin on there instead of Shesterkin. Igor is having a fantastic season and should win the Vezina, but this is his first year playing at an elite level. Panarin has 5+ elite seasons (although none are as good as Igor's current season). Including Scherzer is a bit weird. I can appreciate he's had a fantastic career, but he's a 37 year old pitcher that never started in NY before this year. Should Von Miller be considered for this list?
  6. Moss's "promising" rookie season was worse than Singletary's sophomore slump season. Moss's sophomore season was less of a slump and more of a disaster (even accounting for the shoddy O-line). His play should hopefully improve this season, but his ceiling seems to be mediocre RB2. RB2 is one of the least valuable positions on the roster, so can't say that I care one way or the other if we try to replace him this offseason or give him more time.
  7. I'm not trying to say Diggs contract is a poison pill or anything. Just that it's the least team friendly deal among comparable WRs (Kupp, Adams, Hill, Hopkins). Kupp in particular is on a real sweetheart of a deal.
  8. I love Diggs as a player, but I'm not in love with this contract extension. There's a handful of comparable WR out there. Kupp, Hopkins, Adams, and Hill are all almost 30 years old with multiple elite seasons. Of those guys Diggs has the least team friendly contract (not to mention he signed this 4 year contract extension while he still had 2 years remaining on the original contract). The dead cap amounts 4/5 years from now when he's 32/33 years old are pretty eye-opening. His current cap hit isn't small enough to justify that sort of dead cap that far down the road. Oh well. If it helps us win a SB I could give a ***** about future cap implications. The cap is more guidelines than actual rules anyway
  9. Is "contract control" really worth anything in today's NFL? If a player outperforms their current contract they'll re-negotiate to make more money. If they underperform they will re-negotiate to be more team friendly (or the team will cut/trade them).
  10. For example.... Ed Oliver was arrested for DWI despite blowing a 0.00 on the breathalyzer.
  11. If he wants to sign at a huge discount to chase a SB I'd be all for it. Wouldn't offer any more than 5mm
  12. Over/Under on how long it'll be before we see a lawsuit about this? I was hired by "X" team to be an assistant to the traveling secretary, and they only gave me menial tasks to do!
  13. What's the point of forgoing an agent just to pay an attorney to handle the negotiation? The last player I can remember negotiating their own contract was Richard Sherman, and he really did it on his own with no outside help (unless we're counting his wife). Sherman graduated from Stanford and has always come across as intelligent IMO. He settled on a huge incentive based deal with the 49ers with very little guaranteed $$
  14. I'll guess 4 years 200mm with 75mm guaranteed. Ravens have potential outs every year Lamar has never struck me as a book smart person, and going into this without an agent I think he'll go for a deal that has a huge total number and ignore the small guaranteed number.
  15. Final grades on this situation will be pending the contract details, but I have to say it looks like a minor mistake on Beane's part to not go for the 2nd rd tender.
  16. In a world where Zay Jones gets 3 years 24 million and Christian Kirk gets 4 years 72 million ? Yea.... 20mm for Landry is not an outlandish ask.
  17. 1) I was talking about his rookie season as a whole, not just a 6 game stretch. 2) If we want to cherry pick stats, we can ignore the season finale against Dolphins and then he had 8 TDs in the last 5 games. While an improvement over the first 5 starts prior to the injury that's still nothing to write home about. 3) In his rookie season Josh had 1 elite game (season finale vs Dolphins), and a number of elite plays scattered throughout the season. I don't think that outweighs the numerous dreadful games (Packers, Titans, Texans, Patriots) or all the rookie mistakes in other games. I think any objective analysis of his season, as a whole, would show he had a bad year; and that a review of his highlights would show the potential to be an elite QB.
  18. I don't know why we need this revisionist history. Josh was mostly terrible his rookie year. Sure there were extenuating circumstances like a poor O-line and a dreadful WR corps, but Josh himself was not good. He played a ton of hero ball and made way too many mistakes. That being said, he did have some amazing plays that flashed his talent and showed he had the potential to be a great QB. His 2nd year Josh was mostly a game manager. The roster was significantly improved and McD/Daboll obviously had Josh focusing on reducing the hero ball and mistakes to let the team win games without the QB being a difference maker. That was successful as Josh did drastically cut down on mistakes, but he was also very rarely a difference maker
  19. The NFL allows massive contract shenanigans every year. Look no further than our deal with Von Miller. Why would they draw the line at a team structuring a contract so that a player facing a potential suspension ends up with more cash in his pocket if he does get suspended?
  20. Never a terrible player, but definitely an overpay from day 1 that snowballed after opting out of 2020. Still can't wrap my head around how he opted out an entire season due to COVID and then never got vaccinated. Was he the only NFL player that opted out and then didn't get vaccinated?
  21. Because Von Miller's agent gets to say his guy got a 6 year 120 million contract (even though it's really 3 years 52 million) and the team gets to play salary cap shenanigans. Remember when Taysom Hill signed a 4 year 140 million extension? The salary cap is so easily manipulated it's a bad joke...
  22. I don't have any complains about any of the individual signings, but I will point out that Beane is running a master class in how NOT to navigate the comp pick process. Trubisky/Wallace signed for a lot less than I expected so it's not a huge deal, but handing out a bunch of small contracts like we have this offseason is the worst possible strategy for comp picks.
  23. Coming into this offseason I was expecting to lose Wallace in FA. However, I thought he'd sign for a much bigger contract than 2 years 4 mil per. I have mixed feelings on this. Even though Wallace as CB2 was underwhelming he wasn't a bad player by any means. If we can upgrade CB2 via draft or FA bringing Wallace back at 2 years 4 mil per would have been a great depth signing.
  24. Kyle Orton had "the slide" Trent Edwards had a number of cowardly decisions. Generally speaking Tyrod avoided risks. I don't recall anything that I would call "cowardly" though
  25. Cut (preferably trade) Beasley and ask Mack to re-negotiate his contract. This cap stuff is not difficult when you're a good team and players are willing to re-negotiate contracts!
