Ryan Fitzpatrick leaning toward retirement
MJS replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shouldn't he be used to that by now? His entire career has been in and out of starter jobs. -
I was impressed with his ability to dumpster dive and find competent players. But it's easier to find guys to contribute for a 6 to 8 win team. Finding guys that can help you get to 13 wins is a completely different animal.
-
Whaley was kind of a glorified scout. He was better at pro personnel than drafting anyways. But let's remember that our team was far less talented and sucked at winning much more. Some of those guys that Whaley brought in and who contributed may have not even have made the current roster. That's why a lot of models take into account the overall success of the team, because starting on a crappy team is much different than starting on a good team.

Nice job. I really liked your analysis before and this other analysis has some similarities to your results.

WFT going from cheerleaders to a coed dance team
MJS replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am totally fine with removing all non-football related entertainment from gameday experiences. When a game is playing, I only care about the game. I don't care about cheerleaders or dance crews, drum lines, etc. People like watching that? Good for them, I guess. I feel the same way about cheerleaders, honestly. -
Chris Simms Has Zach Wilson Ahead Of Trevor Lawrence?
MJS replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he doesn't end up on the Jets because I actually like him and want him to succeed. Either he will be good, and therefore make it tougher for the Bills, or (more likely) the Jets will ruin him and he will be a backup or out of the league in a few short years. Both bad outcomes. -
Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
MJS replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. It is stated pretty clearly in the article. That's all Beane talks about. -
Eagles submit rules change to onside kick

Continually taking the foot out of football. They should just go back to the old rules and call it good. -
Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews
MJS replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. All the quotes from Beane are about how Daboll and Frazier didn't get a fair shot at getting hired as head coaches. The main concern was not that they were distracted for the playoff games. Excuse for what? All indications are that they made the proposal so that coordinators that go deep in the playoffs get more of a chance to be hired as head coaches. Beane didn't mention anything about it being a distraction or a reason why the team struggled. -
Kyle Van Noy cut by MIA, should Bills target him?
MJS replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is only one Josh Allen. Luckily he is on our team. -

MJS replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heck yeah. He's a good player. I'd love to have him. -

Yeah, this was from last off season, I believe. -
If any, which player should have their position switched?
MJS replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody. Fans obsess over position switches. -
It's going to be interesting to see what happens going forward with QB's like him. It is now common to have QB's play deep into their 30's and even 40's now. That means they all accumulate stats. QB's who are good will get into the best all-time category when you look just at raw stats. I'm pretty sure he led the league in INT's a couple times (he threw 18 in 2014 and 21 in 2016, and had two other seasons with 20 INT's). But he consistently three for over 4,000 yards. To me he is a toss up. But I think he'll get in because of recency bias. Let the record state that I disagree with you and your 30 years of experience. I'm fine with that. We all have to trust our own eyes.

He is a great player, but that doesn't mean he is a hall of famer. If he were to retire tomorrow I would put money on him NOT getting in. That means he hasn't done enough yet. He had two really good seasons. The rest were above average. And as a Bill he was good, but not great. And he usually struggled for the first half of the season before looking like one of the best in the league in the second half of the season. And it started that way in NE too. There were Pats fans calling for him to get released. But he put it all together, became consistently good, and is now a fantastic player. But no, he was not playing to the level he is now when he was a Bill. He clearly got better.
-
He is pretty fast for his size. He has actually made some pretty great catches. He just follows those up with easy drops. And when he gets the ball in his hands he runs defenders over. I've seen special stuff from him. But none of it matters if he can't consistently make the easy plays. That's what plagues him.

I'm actually a little puzzled that he hasn't had opportunities the past few years. There are usually desperate teams out there more than willing to bank on the resurgence of past ability.

Bring Shady back for 1 more year?
MJS replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was really good here for a few years. I don't think he was overrated at all. -
Bring Shady back for 1 more year?
MJS replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is old, doesn't play special teams (to my knowledge), and was never a particularly good teammate or mentor. Hard pass. He was awesome in his prime, though. -
Titans 2020 #1 pick posts he is done with Titans
MJS replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Titans screwed up their draft and off-season for sure. But this particular player has nobody to blame but himself. -
Knox has never gotten out of the dog house. At least Edmunds has the benefit of playing better as the year went on and he got healthy. Actually Knox did pretty well towards the end and caught a few TD's, but nobody here will ever admit that.
