The Difference Between Being Waived and Being Released
MJS replied to Metal Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a long name. -
And I disagree. I don't think 4th string running backs play much, if at all, for any teams. If you have enough injuries that you have to play your 4th stringer, at any position, you are pretty much screwed anyway. At what point last year were the Bills needing to play Jones at RB and couldn't?
-
How often does a 4th running back play on offense for other teams?
-
McKenzie. He will be ready week 1.
-
A lot of posters here were convinced he would supplant Knox as the #1 TE after a few tweets about him making a couple plays in training camp. And we see it here again with the countless posts of confusion on why he didn't make the team. I totally get it. Knox needs to be better. In fact, I would love to see an upgrade to Knox regardless, but I never saw Hollister as anything but depth.
-
Exactly. Hollister would not have been cut if Beane and McDermott didn't think Sweeney and Gilliam provided more for the team. Hollister is just another of those camp darlings that fans got fixated on.
-
I think it was getting hit by five defenders in the back field as soon as he touched the ball all year. You saw Hollister on only like 3 plays. Maybe people were working him up without actually seeing anything from him. Both are depth players. I'll trust the coaches who have actually seen them both play a ton.
-
Those things all literally mean something.
-
I'm fine with whoever they want to have on the practice squad. The practice squad has such a small impact on the team that I don't think it matters a ton. Obviously, it helps a little, but one spot on the practice squad does not impact wins or losses in the slightest.
-
On a different post, yes.
-
I didn't mention you, did I? I was referring to those fans who talk badly about Schobel.
-
Good for you.
-
Why does Schobel get hate? I don't get it. He was a good player for a long time on a crappy team. He didn't. It's just a bunch of strange Bills fans who find strange ways to get slighted by people they don't know.

Pro football is just infinitely better than pro basketball. Fight me.

Brandon Beanes Presser today…informative
MJS replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I asked earlier in the offseason what everyone was seeing in Hollister. I had my doubts that he was anything other than a depth player. I think people just got excited because he played with Allen in college, but I never saw much substance behind the expectations of him being a significant contributor on offense, or especially in supplanting Knox as our #1 TE. -
And that's the other aspect. 90's throwback merchandise would sell very well. That's a huge motivation to include those. A new design is a monetary risk, and an unnecessary one.
-
That's literally what a throwback is. It's supposed to look like the Kelly era. The current Bills uniforms are for Allen's era.
-
That's my preference, but I'd be totally fine with a red 90's throwback rarely.
-
It's not about hating change. Everyone LOVED the change when we got rid of those hideous new uniforms from the 2000's. It's about maintaining brand integrity and something that legitimately works great.
-
The Bills have a great brand and image that I am not interested in changing just for the sake of change. New does not always mean better. But if you don't feel that way, that's fine. But what the Bills currently have is great. It would be very difficult to create something better, and very easy to make it worse. So chances are, changes will be worse.
-
I'm interested in having the 90's red helmets, the 60's throwbacks with the standing buffalo, and the current helmet. That's all. I'm not really interested in experimenting with anything new. I think what we have now are the best uniforms we have had, so all that's left for me is to pay homage to the 60's and 90's teams with two sets of throwbacks and leave it at that.

So why didn't he miss a bunch of time last season? -

Stephon Gilmore to miss first 6 weeks of season on PUP
MJS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His contract was front loaded. He got paid a ton up front. He is not underpaid. This is the contract he agreed to. Plus he hasn't been a factor lately because he hasn't been on the field. -

I'm assuming everyone was cramped. They probably want larger, nicer seats in the new stadium.
