  1. Yup, I agree with the 4 year plan thing, and I think even that is a longshot at this point. It shouldn't take that long if you have the right people in place. We're also basically wasting an entire season's worth of games on the offensive end because outside of possibly Allen and Dawkins...I'm not sure we literally have another starter quality player that's being developed. I said from the beginning that I didn't care about the record for the first couple of years, I just wanted to see some legit young talent being developed. Instead, we're both losing and we're bereft of talent. Bad combo.
  2. I actually think it was the right thing to do to continue with the rebuild. I thought that team was mediocre at best and didn't have a high ceiling, and it was a little flukey that they made the playoffs. What I don't like is the way the rebuild is going so far. Not by record, but talent-wise we should be further along after 2 offseasons than we are. We basically have an entire offense to build still after 2 years.
  3. Yup, there it is again. If someone disagrees with anything...they're whining. But of course you're not a homer.
  4. Again...what YOU think is the big picture of the team. Many people disagree that management is taking this in the right direction. Doesn't mean they need to leave. Sometimes I think about how cults were formed or how so many people were on board with slavery or with the Nazi's...and then I see things like this and remember how people think this way.
  5. Because that's YOUR opinion, and you're telling people that if they don't agree with management, they shouldn't be fans of the team anymore. That has EVERYTHING to do with being a homer. It's the very definition. If you're just debating that you believe Beane and McDermott have a direction and that you feel they're doing a great job...whatever...but telling people they should jump off the bandwagon if they don't think that is telling people to be blind followers.
  6. Completely irrelevant. You just told people who have been debating, civilly, about the job the GM and coach are doing without ever mentioning wanting to stop being a Bills fan to jump off the bandwagon...meaning you believe that being a fan means you should just support management at every turn. At least own that you think being a homer for management is part of being a fan, because you just very bluntly demonstrated it.
  7. So you're essentially admitting that you believe being a homer is part of being a fan. If you disagree with management or don't think they're getting the job done...you shouldn't be a fan of the team. So that means anything you say has to be taken with a huge grain of salt because you believe part of being a fan is to blindly agree with everything management does, right?
  8. Well we've had 2 offseasons under this regime and still need an entire offense. We're on pace to possibly fill all of these holes by the time Allen retires.
  9. You're overrating what we have and marginalizing how much we need. What players on the offensive side of the ball do you think are potential legitimate starters on a championship caliber team? That's the end-game here right? A player being young doesn't automatically mean he's going to improve just because he has the most room. And "shore up the o'line in the draft"? Do you know how much we need on the o-line? It's not like we're missing one piece. We have 1 legit starter on the O-line, and that's after 2 offseasons. We're supposed to believe that they're going to find 4 in one? We have no starter quality WR"s or TE's. Our 2 best RB's are both 30. It's a total mess. It's almost hard to believe we're this bereft of talent after 2 offseasons. Even by shear, dumb luck we should have more than this.
  10. That's being used a crutch now. Part of the rebuilding process, a big part, is talent development. Who's being developed right now on the offensive side of the ball? What are we getting out of having Derek Anderson start these games? Why don't we have another young QB that we could be giving these valuable starts to develop as a legitimate backup or possible starter in case Allen's a bust? They've had 2 offseasons to find one. They watched Peterman last year, it was definitely enough to see he wasn't a guy they should have solely relied on to be the backup. Beane and McDermott are either inept or flat out lazy for not being able to find literally ANY other options. Neither is a good thing.
  11. That's fine...but the problem is there's nothing on the field that shows any kind of direction either.
  12. I love this built-in excuse of the $80 million in cap money next year. Do you know how many teams have a lot of cap space for next year? This has the potential of a roll-over excuse for McBeane next year too if they don't end up spending much of that. The truth is...we have less young talent than we should in year 2 of what a successful rebuild would. We shouldn't have this many band-aids on offense in year 2. We basically still need to put together an entire offense with skill players and at least 3 positions on the offensive line. It's downright scary how much work there is to do on that side of the ball.
  13. It's amazing how things don't change here. He basically is a Jauron replica and the same people who liked DJ are the same people who are defending him now, and for the same reasons. Jauron's teams were the kings of the moral victory. I remember in those first 2 years how much praise he got from certain people about how the team "stays in" games. It's the same ultra-conservative offense with a bend but don't break defense that allows the team to stay within striking distance...but it's not going to get you a lot of wins. The problem is, these types of coaches are content with that.
  14. This is unfortunately the truth. The D is solid but it's not great. Our offense is so bad that it can basically let a good team just cruise and play not to lose.
  15. Hue's been a good assistant coach in different spots in his career...but this guy clearly wasn't head coach material. Kind of like our situation at head coach.
  16. I want nothing to do with that guy. He could only win 1 SB in 13 years while having HOF QB's...one of which is arguably the best of his era, and had him during his entire prime.
  17. Nicely done! I was going to post this as soon as I read the topic title.
  18. You won't be able to question it because they know Funchess better than you do. He's going to take on double teams to let everyone else run around free. Even when the film won't back that up...he still does, you just can't see it.
  19. How do you know that it has nothing to do with their roster role? You mentioned you've seen my other posts...I believe this is the only one I made where I didn't include the reasons for why I think this could be a possibility. I disagreed with the specific thread I made on it being closed...but I think you had commented on that one...I did list the reasons behind my suspicions there. I asked about what football reason there possibly could be for Peterman still being here, and I think that's completely legitimate. Whether it's talent, arm strength, intangibles, vision...I'd love to hear about what he has that's on the NFL level. But even in that thread, you just shot the notion of this possibility down and told me to talk football...even though you didn't do that yourself. If Drew Brees was as horrific at what he does as Peterman is...I would understand some sort of logic to bringing him up. Much crazier things have happened because of religion than this. Peterman has been completely outspoken about it and we definitely know where McDermott is on it. Pegula himself mentioned McDermott being a man of faith being a plus, which already shows some kind of bias for a football coach where there shouldn't be, it's completely irrelevant to his job. I think there are logical reasons to have this belief...and it makes more sense than saying otherwise without any other reason besides "just because".
  20. So many things wrong here... First off, this whole (from the offense) thing, I've seen this many times now from people defending McDermott. He does not get any kind of pass for anything the offense does. It's HIS offense! He's the head coach. If his responsibility was only going to be defense, he should be a defensive coordinator somewhere. The coordinators are an extension of the head coach. It's McDermott's offense that's putrid and can't even run simple NFL concepts. And even if he's really not involved in the offense, being the head coach gives him the responsibility of choosing the right offensive coordinator...and he's 0-2 already. And we're not even close to being in a position where we're one offseason away from finishing "most" of the rebuild. This team has a million deficiencies and holes. These guys had an entire offseason and half of this whole season to figure out even a half-decent plan for the most important position in sports, and a way to protect their biggest investment thus far. And they've gone beyond failing miserably. It's a really bad harbinger of what could come. The only supporting argument I keep hearing for McDermott is that we're in a rebuild. Being in a rebuild should not guarantee anyone any kind of time. There are still ways to evaluate coaches and GM's besides the record to ensure that the right people are in place to continue the rebuild and bring the team to a championship level.
  21. Yeah, but can those guys recite Psalm 91 off the top of their head like Peterman can?
  22. The next 2-3 years? For most successful regimes, a rebuild doesn't take a total of possibly 5 years in the NFL. 3 years total is usually the standard in seeing how far the organization as a whole has come. We're definitely not going to be there next year...if these two are lucky to see a year after that it better be something big.
  23. in relative terms, Dungey in college football is kind of like what Allen is in the NFL. Good leader, gritty, tough runner, can hurdle linebackers...but not a great thrower.
