  1. How do you know that it has nothing to do with their roster role? You mentioned you've seen my other posts...I believe this is the only one I made where I didn't include the reasons for why I think this could be a possibility. I disagreed with the specific thread I made on it being closed...but I think you had commented on that one...I did list the reasons behind my suspicions there. I asked about what football reason there possibly could be for Peterman still being here, and I think that's completely legitimate. Whether it's talent, arm strength, intangibles, vision...I'd love to hear about what he has that's on the NFL level. But even in that thread, you just shot the notion of this possibility down and told me to talk football...even though you didn't do that yourself. If Drew Brees was as horrific at what he does as Peterman is...I would understand some sort of logic to bringing him up. Much crazier things have happened because of religion than this. Peterman has been completely outspoken about it and we definitely know where McDermott is on it. Pegula himself mentioned McDermott being a man of faith being a plus, which already shows some kind of bias for a football coach where there shouldn't be, it's completely irrelevant to his job. I think there are logical reasons to have this belief...and it makes more sense than saying otherwise without any other reason besides "just because".
  2. So many things wrong here... First off, this whole (from the offense) thing, I've seen this many times now from people defending McDermott. He does not get any kind of pass for anything the offense does. It's HIS offense! He's the head coach. If his responsibility was only going to be defense, he should be a defensive coordinator somewhere. The coordinators are an extension of the head coach. It's McDermott's offense that's putrid and can't even run simple NFL concepts. And even if he's really not involved in the offense, being the head coach gives him the responsibility of choosing the right offensive coordinator...and he's 0-2 already. And we're not even close to being in a position where we're one offseason away from finishing "most" of the rebuild. This team has a million deficiencies and holes. These guys had an entire offseason and half of this whole season to figure out even a half-decent plan for the most important position in sports, and a way to protect their biggest investment thus far. And they've gone beyond failing miserably. It's a really bad harbinger of what could come. The only supporting argument I keep hearing for McDermott is that we're in a rebuild. Being in a rebuild should not guarantee anyone any kind of time. There are still ways to evaluate coaches and GM's besides the record to ensure that the right people are in place to continue the rebuild and bring the team to a championship level.
  3. Yeah, but can those guys recite Psalm 91 off the top of their head like Peterman can?
  4. The next 2-3 years? For most successful regimes, a rebuild doesn't take a total of possibly 5 years in the NFL. 3 years total is usually the standard in seeing how far the organization as a whole has come. We're definitely not going to be there next year...if these two are lucky to see a year after that it better be something big.
  5. in relative terms, Dungey in college football is kind of like what Allen is in the NFL. Good leader, gritty, tough runner, can hurdle linebackers...but not a great thrower.
  6. I had my qualms about McDermott last year as well, most notably with how incredibly conservative he is and the lack of imagination from our offense. I even said that although I enjoyed the moment...I thought last year's team was mediocre at best and that making the playoffs was a little flukey. And guess what...the Bills agreed! That's why they stayed on the path of rebuilding, which I'm fine with and still agree with. I don't see the point of mediocrity. But it is possible to fail at rebuilding. I said from the beginning that I didn't even care about the record this year, and I still don't. I just wanted to see organizational progress. To see us going in the right direction. For example, I don't know if you follow basketball or not, but even though the Knicks are 1-3 I love what they're doing so far. They're competitive, they fight back, and you can tell the coaching even from just 1 offseason had a real plan with this group and it's paying off. These games, even in a rebuild year, are precious for developmental reasons. We're throwing them away because of what Beane and McDermott have done, especially with the QB position. These guys thought, even after what Peterman did last year...that this guy was an answer as a starter! So much so that they let a possible competent backup go with no other safety net. And while knowing that they really didn't want to start Allen yet. And even after that, they had full faith in him as a primary backup, so they didn't bring anyone else in for weeks. And now they're so petrified of him that they brought in Derek Anderson off the street and started him, clearly before he had enough preparation time. And he's still here! There's still nobody else! The Bills philosophy on last year's team should be the exact same philosophy they apply to evaluating this coaching staff. They are not championship caliber, not even close. There's no point in being mediocre at best.
  7. Love it. There are so many excuses being made for McDermott, it's scary. We are in a lot of trouble if this guy sticks around as the head coach.
  8. While coaching is a big deal...there is zero evidence of this. I'm not sure you've seen either Mahomes or Allen play much if you really think that. Mahomes makes some incredible throws from even the toughest angles. I'm really not even saying that so much as a knock on Allen rather than I think you're downplaying just how good Mahomes has been. I understand that KC has a lot of weapons...but Mahomes is legit. He pretty much has everything you'd want from a QB.
  9. I couldn't disagree more with this. The way today's game is set up is perfect for Mahomes. He's the Steph Curry of the NFL.
  10. Chris Brown is and always has been a total shill...what do you expect?
  11. An inaccurate throw from Allen at a receiver's feet that will be irrelevant because of his athleticism and arm strength
  12. It depends on what you mean by that. We're not going to win anything this season, we already know that. It's a development year. I think it all depends on how much they view McCoy as being a contributor to that development.
  13. I can see both sides on this one. From purely a business plan perspective, it makes sense to trade him since we're really building for 2 years from now, when McCoy likely won't be here or be at his best anymore anyway. However...we're so strapped on weapons that it could make QB1's development even tougher. If the plan is to keep playing him the rest of this season and the return is going to be a 3rd round pick or lower, it might make sense to keep him .
  14. I actually unfortunately agree with the McDermott/Jauron comparisons. There are some things I like more about McDermott...but the red flags are similar. They're both extremely conservative. They both have no clue about the offense and it results in an incredibly bland product. If you're a coach that doesn't know much about one side of the ball, you have to be able to identify good coordinators. He's 0-2 right now. We heard so many of the same things during the Jauron era about how hard the team plays for him, and I remember a couple of late game comebacks from Trent Edwards during that 5-1 start that had so many fans say the same thing about how things were different with him and his "temperament". The head-scratching plays, like in the 2nd quarter on 1st and 10 in the Titans redzone where we gave a play away with that QB sneak because they thought Benjamin may have bobbled the catch...that was flat out embarrassing. It's fine to rush the play but you have to have something drawn up for a situation like that. This team is bad enough offensively, they can't just be giving away plays. Or the QB draw when we had 3rd and 22 at mid-field. Sorry but that's very Jauron-esque stuff. I hope I'm wrong, but what I've seen on the offensive side of the ball during his time here is frightening, and not in a good way.
  15. Haha, love the RInger. Pretty good and fair stuff here. I think Allen could be a franchise QB...but not with the current coaches in place. McDermott has gone 0-2 on offensive coordinators...that's not good. And that's being light on the criticism for him because he's the head coach, the offensive strategy and development still goes through him. So when we see the horrible playcalling and inability to install even the simplest of offenses...that's on McDermott. I know people will keep pointing to the 9-7 playoff year...but that to me does not come ahead of putting up the right support structure for a possible franchise QB.
  16. I loved the call. I will never fault a coach for trying to win the game. McDermott would have played for a tie, no doubt. This reminds me of when people were killing Belichick years ago when the Pats were up by 4 or something and on 4th and 4 they went for it from like their own 30 with 2 minutes left. Their D was getting killed in the 2nd half and he had no faith that they could make the stop, and a 1st down would've sealed the game. It didn't work out...but I would absolutely love that call if the Bills did it, if they had a legit QB.
  17. I loved the comeback and the game...but I think this past Sunday's game was different. While the Pats game was much more exciting and crazy...I was never a believer in the Chan/Fitz era. I just enjoyed that game for the moment. And because Freddy Action is my favorite Bills player of all-time and he was incredible that day. While I still don't know about Beane/McDermott...this past Sunday made me feel better about the most important position on the field than I've possibly ever felt. I was too young for the Kelly era and started my football watching during the Flutie/Rob Johnson years. While it wasn't the most thrilling game in the 2nd half...this game was so incredibly important because it showed a glimpse of what could finally be a legit franchise QB. It's amazing to me that people still at times try to doubt how much you need one. You can see how much Allen's play lifted up the rest of the team, that's what a franchise QB can do more than any other position. I hope years from now someone makes a thread reminiscing about that game in Minneapolis when Josh Allen arrived.
  18. This is also part of the propaganda for this regime though...because lots of teams are going to have major cap space for next season. And their foundations are a lot more appealing than ours.
  19. When I saw the topic headline I thought it was going to be something I'd hate Jordan for...but that was pretty funny.
  20. Usually I would say no chance...but McDermott's conservativeness might actually give Bama a shot.
  21. My big problem with an article and book like this is it’s just completely littered with “one assistant says”, “a source close to the team says”, and 10 other different variations of that. These “journalists” can literally make this stuff up if they want to, and probably do half the time. There’s no accountability for it. And how pathetic do you have to be to request being an unnamed source? If you’re going to put something out there, be man enough to put your name on it. While I would love for there to be dissension in the Patriots world...it’s so hard to take stuff like this seriously when there’s so few names attached to these quotes.
  22. If this whole season goes as badly as the first two games...I could definitely see it after this season. They're likely going to have to bring in a new OC anyways. I could see an effort being made to find the right coach to mold and build around Josh Allen if he shows enough promise this year. I really wouldn't mind swapping out Dick Jauron Jr for someone else.
