  1. https://www.si.com/nfl/josh-allen-has-forever-changed-buffalo-on-and-off-the-field Congrats to Josh! It's not the MVP, but it's pretty cool that both his on the field & off the field work is being recognized as best in league. "Allen ends 2024 on a crash course to what could be his first league MVP award. At the time of publishing, Allen is first in Expected Points Added (EPA) per play, and second in a composite of Expected Points Added per play and Completion Percentage Over Expectation (EPA+CPOE), a metric that measures quarterback skill beyond typical box score statistics. After the Bills shed some of their most tenured players like wide receiver Stefon Diggs and safety Jordan Poyer this offseason, the team was expected to regress. Instead, the team is off to a 10–3 start, with a firm stranglehold on the AFC East. Allen’s fourth-and-2 game-winning touchdown run against the rival Kansas City Chiefs from 26 yards out is on a short list of the year’s best and most critical plays. But what pushed Allen over the edge for NFL Player of the Year is his relationship with the community of Buffalo and, in particular, the Children’s Hospital where Allen is a regular visitor, fundraiser and cheerleader. He is in the hospital at least a few times per season. "
  2. What talents? He's clearly not good enough to even dress. He can occasionally be in the right place & capitalize to get a turnover, but he's constantly beat even in man coverage. But I guess everyone else got beat all day against the Rams, so Elam would've fit right in. Guess you're right, throwing Elam in there wouldn't have gotten any worse. Probably would've just been more of the same, only more holding/PI penalties & maybe a chance at an INT.
  3. I know, but I care. And I know a lot of other people do as well. In fact, I have an unhealthy obsession with it this year, because he's long overdue. The Super Bowl is the priority, but I want that MVP for him!
  4. But the next 3 are the Jets & Patriots (x2). Voters won't be impressed by that. If people's recent memory is "he lost the last 2 games he played vs winning teams (back-to-back)," they're going to view the back-to-back losses against the Ravens & Texans in a different light. Those weren't just early season flukes, those were just who Allen & the Bills are when they face better teams. He still would have a chance, but I think that would require Saquon to slow down, and the Ravens to not go on a win streak.
  5. I'm not speaking of a literal asterisk, I'm speaking of people ALWAYS bringing up "well Mahomes sat his first year!" after every one of these records. You can deny it doesn't happen, but that's not reality. Even in this thread it was pointed out. Also, OJ's record isn't even talked about outside of Bills fans, and that's a far more standard type of record ("most ___ in a season" vs "most ____ over first X years"). People care more about most yards in a season or most TDs in a season or most sacks in a season, rather than "most sacks for a player before age 30" or "most TDs in a player's first 7 seasons." People talk about Eric Dickerson's rushing record, while only Bills fans are there to say "but he did it in 14 games vs 16!" In contrast, every time I see NFL or ESPN or any sports personality post about Allen's "most ___ in first X seasons," the replies are FILLED with people saying "Mahomes sat his first year, so it doesn't count!"
  6. This is the most critical game all year for Allen's MVP candidacy. If the Bills lose, he won't escape the narrative of losing to good teams. People will forgive everything else if the Bills beat both the Chiefs & Lions. As much as I want to win for playoff seeding, I really want to win to keep the MVP hopes alive.
  7. That's the one thing that sucks. All of these accomplishments will always have an asterisks brought up, and it's not unfair to do so either. Doesn't mean Allen's accomplishments aren't great, they absolutely are, but I wish Mahomes started that first season just so we wouldn't always have to add this extra context.
  8. Cowherd's rant about the Bills wasting Josh Allen's talent was depressing. Mahomes is 14-2 in games he puts up 400+ total yards, Allen is 4-5. The Chiefs are 10-0 in one score games this year, with 15 straight wins in one score games. Meanwhile, the Bills are 5-6. It's obvious the Chiefs aren't just "lucky," they've figured out how to win when it matters. The Bills still can't figure it out.
  9. He's not good. Nobody else outside of diehard Bills fans even remember he exists. And the only reason we remember is due to where he was picked in the draft. It's a bummer, but there's no sugar coating it anymore.
  10. As dumb as this sounds, that's what bothers me the most. I should care more about wins, but I REALLY want Allen to win MVP. It's crazy that a QB as good as him still hasn't gotten it, and it makes getting nowhere in the playoffs even worse. But no turnovers & 6 TDs has to help, even in a loss. Problem is I can already see all the comments discrediting the tush push TDs, especially since Bills fans have been defensive over people claiming he's a "1 yard line merchant" (which is definitely not true).
  11. I would say the very bad defense outweighed everything else, 90% to 10%. Just one extra stop... a turnover... anything other than giving up big play after big play. The offense was also pretty slow in the 1st half, and the blocked punt killed us, but the D was by far the worst part.
  12. Church Push & Touching Bush seem like an oxymoron... But you're right, touching bush works 99.9% of the time 😉
  13. Ok, it's one bad really bad game by the D & McDermott. If KC loses, we're still in contention for the 1 seed. But if we lose in Detroit, they should just focus on getting healthy. If they win, keep up the hard work, iron out the kinks, and keep practicing plays for the playoffs. The team has a lot to work on, even those that played well. ST can't allow punts to be blocked, Brady needs to call a better game on the 1st half, and even though Allen played great, even he could work on things (accuracy being the main one). Obviously, defense sucked all around. But figure out what went wrong, and start prepping for Detroit.
  14. This is what I was afraid of. Another poster commented that he thought this would be a game Allen would air it out & have a big day, but I've said it a million times, Allen is one of the worst at the deep ball. Doesn't mean it's impossible to hit deep every now & then, but it's just not something he's figured out.
  15. I was really hoping Saquon would have a down game, but I guess that's just not possible. Surprised the Panthers are hanging in there though.
  16. Guessing Keon's wrist was a lot more injured than originally thought. What's up with Kincaid though? Wasn't he nearing return last week? The longer they're out, the longer it'll take to readjust to playing. Hope they get healthy again soon.
  17. 1 seed. I mean, depends on how healthy we're talking. If we're saying the options are 1 seed vs our roster as it exists now + taking your chances at more injuries, I'd say 1 seed.
  18. Lemme tell you bout those Rusty Colemans - so first you need to get gummy bears, shampoo, and a pair of pliers. Then you gotta be REALLY flexible. And THEN...
  19. Fine, I'll remember to gift you a Billdo this Christmas instead...
  20. I think everyone agrees, but the Super Bowl STORY would be much more fun with a Bills vs Lions Super Bowl. Obviously, as long as the Bills make the Super Bowl we'd all be happy. But most of the country is sick of watching teams that have many Super Bowl trophies to their name face off against other teams with many Super Bowl trophies to their name. It would be so much more fun to have 2 teams both competing for their FIRST. No matter the outcome, a historically impoverished team finally gets over the hump. And although I'd be sad if the Bills lost, it wouldn't feel as bad as something like losing to the Cowboys a 3rd time.
  21. Wow, that's incredible! Imagine being an 8 year old kid, seeing a flyer & deciding to reach out to one of these programs. That took a lot of strength & maturity for someone so young. I work with elementary school kids, and many would never put themselves out there like that. Ray was a brave kid, and that's so awesome things worked out the way they did.
  22. Unfortunately, I think this is where the streak ends. Hopefully that's because he's resting 4th quarters & not needed as much. That would be great, but Josh has been pretty bad on the deep ball the past couple years. Not sure why that is, but they usually come up short rather than being overthrown. So if he's slinging it, better be short to intermediate routes. Or we can hope for a lot of YAC on some dump passes 😆
  23. Well, I lost my house betting on a 33-33 tie last week, so it can only go up from here! Bills 37 Rams 24 Time to win back those losses!
  24. And this is how we spiral into anti-intellectualism. Can't trust anyone. Doctors, experts, scientists, etc. could all be bad actors, therefore disregard evidence & consensus to go with my gut and/or conspiracy!
