1. Chiefs 2. Browns 3. Bills
BigDingus replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure you'll get a lot of flack for suggesting that, but your reasoning is well thought out, so no issue there. The only thing you're not looking at is the individual development aspect of it. Yes, if all things remain the exact same among all players, & everything on paper is the exact same as it was in 2020 then sure, it all adds up. But if you throw in the unknown variables like Josh Allen's ability to still improve (as well as any other player's ability to improve...or even regress) then it becomes a much more cloudy picture. We simply don't know if key players like Allen can get even better. Same can be said for someone like Baker Mayfield, but most would argue Allen has a much higher ceiling. Diggs did wonders in year 1 on the team, it's possible he does even better in year 2 (even if not statistically). We don't know how all those teams' draft picks will turn out. Baker may be in the same system for a 2nd year, but Allen will now have Daboll yet again (something we thought was never going to happen after last season). Predicting growth & development is impossible, and that very well may be key to those 3 teams fair in 2021. On paper, if all things were the same as 2020, your argument is pretty reasonable. But things in the NFL rarely stay the same year to year, as you often see with things like strength of schedule differing a ton before the season compared to after the season. -
RD 1, Pick 30: Greg Rousseau, Edge (Miami) Public Poll Added

You are way too sensitive man lol. Way to overblow the tiniest thing & get defensive about it. Maybe re-read my original post & realize I never once insulted the guy. I'm sorry if he's your dad or something. The crew that drafted Maybin was a bunch of dolts. I'm not worried in the slightest. -

Tom Brady sure has aged well... -
And that's why I think it's silly when fans criticize the jumping through tables or the "BillsMafia" name in general... They've raised the profile for the team in a positive way just as much as the recent on-field play has. Yes, a lot of people think we're crazy, but they also know of the Bills now, know the fans are diehard supporters, think of the fun people have instead of "it's just a cold, washed up town," etc. The fact people are excited to come here, so much so that they're willing to dive onto a folding table & risk injury, just shows how the image has improved dramatically. No more "depressing & cold" and way more "high energy & excitement!"

Awesome video, thanks for sharing. On the flip side, I wish there were videos breaking down all the times a player (even the great ones) got beat or made mistakes, just to kind of see where their weaknesses are, or if there's a certain type of player they struggle against. Not to show how bad they are, just to get an idea of how raw they are or how long their development might be. Anyway, along with Anderson in the 7th, this is the pick I'm following the most from now on

Picked up as an edge rusher, short window of college productivity, drafted on potential, 1 good college year, etc. I'd say that's all you need. Looking back at Maybin's pre-draft breakdowns, he was highly touted and positively discussed quite often. Only the limited time with high production was brought up often. -

Hey, I'll take a young Incognito any day, as long as he can avoid the on field issues and the paranoia. -

Well, we didn't get Mahomes on the team, so I guess this is the next best thing as a Texas Tech alum 🤣 But for real, I just want my college & pro rooting interests to align... is that too much to ask?! Edit: Wait, he also went to my HS? Now I NEED him to stick around dammit! -

I always forget how hard that is to read, especially "everyone once a response here go one have a blessed day." Ouch. -

Why hasn't he joined the WWE already? He could've had an entire rivalry with Kane or something... -
RD 1, Pick 30: Greg Rousseau, Edge (Miami) Public Poll Added

Like I said, I'm not knocking the pick, just pointing out what they said in the article I shared. How many years in college did Nick Bosa play? Were Bosa's times all worse off than scouts expected & did he put on weight in his year off? I think these are the things that mattered (I'm not saying they shouldn't or shouldn't matter) to the scouts. Hell, that article even said he's now projecting to be the 29th-30th pick now, which is exactly what happened. I am personally happy for him, hope he shuts the doubters up & makes a huge contribution. I can just see how it's perceived as a big risk. I have a feeling Aaron Maybin comparisons will be consistently thrown out even if they're not valid. -

https://caneswarning.com/2021/04/28/why-is-miami-hurricanes-de-greg-rousseau-plummeting-on-nfl-draft-big-boards/ So basically scouts grew worried after he opted out a year, then showed up to his pro day heavier, not as explosive as he used to be, and wasn't looking like he used to. Fair enough, but at the same time I'd be shocked if anyone could take a year off from actually playing football & not gain weight. Even if you're constantly working out, that doesn't just mean you'll stay at your playing weight. Only having that 1 good season worries me more than the rest, but I'm not knocking the pick. Definitely risky, but I don't think pro day numbers matter nearly as much as his tape. How he plays in a game matters much more than his shuttle time or vertical jump. -
I mean, obviously that wasn't the only question that mattered to many people lol The article isn't even wrong, it just points out there's a difference in opinion between people in the league who project him as a 1st rounder & those talking heads on the outside who don't understand it. Then it concludes : "Allen will have a chance to be an NFL quarterback. One side will be right. The other side will ignore the result as a fluke and continue unfazed." So far, that's basically true too. IMO, I've been looking back on old JA articles with a sense of pride in his work. He is an anomoly. There haven't been QB's with similar HS-JUCO-D1 careers with numbers & play like his who improved so dramatically. Even crazier, the organization known for botching picks & failing to develop QB's ended up being the team to accomplish this transformation. I actually think dismissing the question marks does a disservice to Allen. I think people who say things like "he was always this good, just needed better WR's!" or similar things do a disservice to him. What he's managed to do through his determination & sheer work ethic is nothing short of INCREDIBLE, and it was that sacrifice & dedication that should be praised. He's done something no other QB like him has done. If he didn't have so many question marks & so much room to improve, it wouldn't be so incredible.

Call your shot: Who will the Bills pick in the 1st round?

I have no opinion other than I hope for a LB or DE. If BPA is a RB, I'd be happy with that too. -
Interesting Allen vs Jackson Debate (Wiley vs Acho)
BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps, but some of the points he makes in the 2nd half of the video made me actually agree with him. I've always thought Lamar was an awesome talent, but seeing how no QB with stats even close to his have ever won a Super Bowl is pretty eye opening. Also, the criteria Bleacher Report goes off of for that list where potential is "significant" combined with that stat shows Allen has a more clear path to a SB ring one day than Jackson. It's pretty easy to see how someone with Allen's play style can translate that to a SB win, especially if he continues to improve (even if he never has a statistical season as great as 2020), whereas Jackson would likely need to change his play style pretty drastically or else become the 1st QB to ever win playing like a team's RB. -
This is one of the more interesting discussions I've seen on the topic (possibly because they're so passionate), as it just focuses on best players under age 25. Surprised to hear Wiley take Jackson's side, but really Acho's points make more sense to me. Even at the end where he's discussing Bleacher Report's criteria, he makes the case for Allen quite well. The point on pass yards to rush yards ratio is also interesting. Jackson has 2.4 pass yards for every 1 rushing yard. No QB has ever won a SB even close to such a ratio. Allen in comparison has 10 passing yards per 1 rushing yard. Russell Wilson had the lowest ratio to win a SB at 6.2 pass yards for each rushing yard. And if you look at each of Allen's season, his rush yards have decreased while passing yards increased, and wouldn't you know it...he's gotten more successful. Lamar Jackson on the other hand has over 1,000 rushing yards each of the last 2 seasons, and though his rushing total last year dropped 200 yards, his passing yards also dropped nearly 400 yards (so 2 to 1 still). Good discussion overall, Josh just has a clearer path to winning a Super Bowl imo.

Gabriel Davis - Post TD Celebration
BigDingus replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great throws with some absolutely amazing catches. I was reminded of 3 things watching this video: 1) I'm going to miss John Brown. He didn't get to play as much this season, but he still made an impact & I'll miss him. 2) It's easy to see why the coaches still like Knox. He can be annoyingly frustrating, but he also makes some stupid catches many other TE's wouldn't. 3) Still feels refreshing seeing so many receptions by WR's. Wasn't long ago our QB just wanted to checkdown to the RB or TE as his first look. Gone are the days of our RB leading the team in receptions. -
Bills players you disliked

Rob Johnson (looked like a d-bag, played like a pansy) Willis McGahee (we use a 1st rounder on your injured a** while having a pro-bowl RB already...then you gonna crap on the city?!) Tyrod Taylor (not personally, just how he played the last season & a half...made Trent Edwards look like a gunslinger!) Marcel Dareus (take the money & do nothing...yay) Kiko Alonso (fine his 1 season that he played here, then became a cheapshot artist) Marcus Stroud (big hype around his signing, got an extension, then did nothing) -
Share a story that reveals your Bills dedication
BigDingus replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, as an 11-13 year old kid, I spent more of my time on the old version of the Bills Message board arguing with adults about Doug Flutie being superior to Rob Johnson than hanging out with friends or focused on real life... That doesn't make me the most dedicated, but it did show where my priorities were in life -

The last time the Bills picked at #30 in the draft...

What about the last time we picked at 30 when there were at least 30 NFL teams? I could Google it...but c'mon, why do it the easy way?
