I think it also has to do with how they step up in the pocket & slip initial pressure. I know I usually think of their ability to run, but slipping tackles & moving around in the pocket to create space & avoid sacks is probably factored in.

I like PFF for their OL grades, but aside from that their system seems way off.

I mean, I don't take offense to it... The laughing & carrying on was annoying, but honestly, what do you expect when at that point he had 2 years of game footage of him doing things like this, and completely fell apart in the playoffs the last time they saw him. You earn respect by playing well & proving people wrong, me included. He didn't do much to quiet doubters the last month, but hey...400+ yards & a win, now we're back on track. He was getting a lot of love early on, so it's not like people unanimously hate him or want to hate him. And as we all know, the more you win, the more love you get.

The best part of Allen has always been the way he hypes up the team & gets involved on the sidelines. You know he's in it, and his team supports him. That's one thing that has failed many talented QB's over the years. You may have the skills, but if your team doesn't rally around you & play for you, those skills won't be enough to elevate the team. Granted, it works both ways, but IMO it's better to have your team's support so they'll play hard no matter what. If they give up on you, the game is already over.

I've lost a degree of confidence in this offense to be competitive against good teams. The defense isn't good, but they do enough in a lot of games to keep us in it (or save the day like last week). After September, the offense looks like it did last year, except with more talent.

With 32 teams, it would suck if only the 4 division leaders made the playoffs. That also means only 2 teams per division host a home playoff game.Hell, we wouldn't have even broken the playoff drought if not for the WC. i agree with the 16 team playoff being stupid though, especially since the season has already started. The way it is now is perfect imo.

Simms is a huge Allen fan & avid Bills follower. He's not going to make excuses for us that he doesn't believe in. He's excused a lot of Allen's play the past 2 years, but he can't ignore that the Pats were previously blown out by a depleted 49ers team the week prior, and lost to the awful Broncos before that. The Bills were supposed to win, and really hammer home that we're the top dogs now. But we're going on 4 weeks now of losing to good teams & eking out wins against bad ones. We had 4 games of the offense we saw at the beginning of the year coupled with 4 games of how it looks now. Unfortunately, those latter 4 games much more closely resemble the Bills of the past 2 seasons, and that's not good. It doesn't matter how you start, it matters how you finish. And if this is the offense come January, our playoff run will be owed to a weak division & be terribly short.

I wish that would happen, but if it's like the Chiefs game, Allen gets in his own head & plays stiff in big games, especially in the beginning. All the receivers were open with easy throws available, poor passes everywhere. Finally throws a good pass, receiver drops it. Rinse & repeat until we're playing from behind, run game gone, and Allen getting a growing sense to try & dig us out of a whole by himself (which just digs the hole deeper). If he can come in feeling little loose, we'll be ok. If he's amped up & tight like the Chiefs or Titans games, we'll be in for a long day. Another important factor is taking advantage of the few stops the defense gets. ***Edit:*** Even if they're getting run all over like in the Chiefs game, they managed several key stops. If that happens again, take advantage of that blessing & keep them off the field for as long as possible! No quick 3 & outs. Even if we just hold them to a FG, that's a win for this team. Just need the offense to capitalize & keep up.

But point differential doesn't mean anything. Teams that have a negative point differential rarely make the playoffs, but the people in the other thread discussing that very thing said it was a stupid, cherry-picked stat. I don't get the collective dismissal of our poor play. Everyone was SOOOO quick to make Allen MVP threads, but disappeared the last few weeks. At least I stick around and am willing to admit when I'm wrong. I STILL believe Allen made substantial improvement over his college and pro years prior to now, but he's just reverting to his subpar play for whatever reason.

If we lose to the Pats, people are going to say it doesn't matter since we're still atop the division. All I want to see is Josh play well in a big game. Even if the Pats are 2-4, him & McDermott have never beat them. It's time to change that. I'm tired of seeing the Josh & Co. play stiff & afraid in big games. When the spotlight is on them, they come out missing open passes, taking bad sacks, going 3 & out, committing penalties, and just looking lost. Then sometime in the 2nd half, they put together a drive or two a bit too late to matter. I just want to see the offense take control & show confidence.

Fair enough, though people say the same things about Allen (though Cam's historically more accurate & rushes for more yards), so you'd think Belichick would be able to work with that. I feel like if you throw Allen on the Patriots, Belichick could work wonders with him. Maybe Cam's just the old dog too old to learn new tricks.

Pretty sure Cam's issues right now have a lot to do with health. Not saying he's great or anything, but Belichick has shown he can win within his system with less talented QB's like Matt Cassel, so why would Cam be any different? Plus, COVID affects everyone differently. Some people have lingering effects for months afterwards, some have no issues. I dunno, even though I don't think Cam is great, I Belichick can get more out of him than what we've seen recently.

I don't know... The 3rd & long thing hasn't been an area of success for this team all year. In fact, when I see the team is 3rd & 8 or 3rd & 15, it almost feels like a foregone conclusion they'll get an easy look downfield and convert. "Pressure packages" implies we can get pressure. That's usually not the case unfortunately.

Probably not. When you don't have the talent & can't make adjustments, it's likely every team is just going to keep on attacking the same way. Doesn't mean we'll lose, but our defense went from being a source of pride to something I'm genuinely afraid to watch every time they step on the field.

If Simms is ripping into the Bills, you really should listen, because that's definitely not something he wants to do. Simms loves the Bills & loves Allen. He sounds pissed.

It doesn't matter if we went 0-16 every year with those uniforms before or after then, they are still the only uniforms shown during highlights of our best years. Aside from all that, I just like them better. When I was a 5 year old kid growing up in Virginia, surrounded by Redskins & Cowboys fans, I became the lone Bills fan in the entire massive family because of those uniforms & helmets. Art was my only talent, from a really young age, and I gravitated towards things that appealed to me visually & aesthetically. Compared to the ugly Redskins colors, I thought the uniforms & helmet coloring was beautiful. Compared to the Cowboys logo, I thought that charging Buffalo on a red background looked spectacular. That got me into football, and I immediately dove in head first. When I was older, I asked my dad why he never tried to make me a Redskins fan. He said he was just happy I enjoyed football & picked up on it so fast, so he wanted to encourage me to go watch whatever team I liked. Luckily the Bills were good back then, so I got to watch some great games. But if it weren't for that uniform & color scheme, I might've grown up a fan of some other team. /rant

That's awesome, I hope your son attends many more games to come! I've only been able to take my wife once, but man do I try to convince her every year we need to go again. I've been to many college football games though, and I'd still take going to a Bills game every time. I don't even tailgate since I really don't know anyone there, but the people we do meet are always awesome. There was only one time I went where I met a couple of pricks, and of course, they ended up being Jets fans (wasn't even a Jets game going on, but they were all wearing Jets jerseys anyway). Can't wait to go back when we can attend games again. He was just trying to prove my point about Buffalonians by using that line incorrectly 😂 We're getting very meta now.

I agree on the overall message regarding Allen, but I don't see how he wasn't one of the main reasons we were poor on offense the majority of the game. He was 9 for 22 & had only 66 yards passing mid-late in the 4th quarter... he was a primary reason we weren't getting those 1st downs, not extending drives, not scoring, and sending our defense back on the field quickly after they just came off (and god knows we didn't want them back out there). It felt like Tyrod in his last season here. Defense played poorly & was exhausted, but when they would finally manage to make a stop, the offense just went out there for a minute or 2, then sent the D right back out there to continue getting pummeled. Again, I don't think this shows Allen is bad all of a sudden...but accurate passing clearly would've made a big difference (as would catching the ball when they are good passes).
