  1. Just a guess, but I think that was pretty normal back then. Kickers weren't really hitting 50+ yards frequently, nor were they expected to. I remember when Christie hit a 53 yarder in the SB & it was a record. Norwood's kick was only 4 yards less, so I think it's fair to assume it wasn't common at that time.
  2. It's going to depend on injuries & availability more than ever. I still think the Chiefs will get there, as they've also gotten quite a bit better, especially on defense, but I think the Bills will make it an interesting race.
  3. I guess $16k is a lot more to McKenzie than it is Beasley. Guess we'll just have to wait until he's fined a proportional amount of his salary 😆 But hey, good job McKenzie. I don't care the reasoning, I'm just glad you did it.
  4. I would love to have Romo on more Bills games, but that crew is pretty good too Romo is excellent. I don't mind Nance, but he's not great either.
  5. 1st in the division, 12-5 record. Patriots will finish 2nd, Miami 3rd & Jets 4th.
  6. Wait, so how do they operate & do business? Do they do it out of a food truck or their house or something? All this talk has made me want to try them on my next trip to Buffalo, but if they don't have an actual location I need to know how to find them!
  7. Exactly. Not to mention our franchise QB who we're hoping to have around for 10+ years has stated how he loves playing indoors & how great his feel/control throwing the ball is in indoor venues. So having our QB play in the best possible environment for 50%+ of games each season would be a huge advantage for us. And I know some outdoors stadiums like Arrowhead & Seattle are super loud, having a fanbase like ours + a dome would likely be even louder. My most recent experience in a dome was the Texans vs Bills in Allen's rookie season, and even though it was 1/3 empty, it was much louder than the last 2 times I was in Buffalo. Made me imagine how crazy it would sound if it was packed with a more diehard fanbase like the Bills have.
  8. On the flip side, I feel like our opponents always have a 95% chance to convert on 3rd & long lol It's probably the Bills PTSD talking, but whenever I see 3rd & 12 or 3rd & 19, it just feels like no matter what happens, the opponent is going to convert. 3rd & 5 though? They got that locked down
  9. I'm honestly less worried about a QB being injured in preseason (especially a giant like Josh) than I am a WR, RB, or linemen. As long as Josh remembers it's preseason & doesn't try to hurdle or bulldoze anyone, I wouldn't freak out seeing him for a couple drives. I really don't want to see Diggs out there though. Already worried about him making it through 17 games, especially after staying healthy through all 16 + postseason last year.
  10. Never heard of em... But I do know that WWE Superstar Rob Gronkowski won a Super Bowl last year, so it's possible!
  11. I'd take Whataburger over In N Out every day, but still think it's pretty good overall. Would be pretty cool to see one come to Buffalo. It was fun a few years ago when they started popping up all over Texas.
  12. Bummer, that's unfortunate. Hope we keep him around though, as he was pretty solid at TT. Also, we've seen competent late round/undrafted linemen be developed into great players before, so hoping he can find a spot. Thanks for the response though.
  13. I'm at work still and haven't been able to watch the game, but does anyone know how Jack Anderson did? I know he's not going to get the most attention from anyone, but as a Texas Tech guy myself, really been pulling for him.
  14. True, but I think he was referencing how in all 3 games he didn't look like he did in the regular season leading up to it. There were many opportunities, but the offense as a whole (not just JA) never really clicked, and that sack risked knocking us out of the playoffs entirely... Throwing a pick or taking a sack suck, but doing it in a big game & doing it in a spectacularly bad way stand out more than a simple regular season INT. I'm not saying this to rag on Allen, if anything it just shows he's still young & despite how good he looked, he can still get even better. That's amazing. But the blatantly obvious things like that sack (or pitching the ball in the Houston playoff game after a long run) stand out more. I get it's not fun to reflect on those things, but they're not your regular run-in-the-mill mistakes. It'd be like if Mahomes tried no-look-passing into triple coverage & it lead to a pick-6. At that point, you can only blame yourself. Really not trying to pile on, I just understand the skepticism that wouldn't put him in the same class as Tom Brady. He's just not there yet, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't take him over Brady 7 days a week. He's going to get better, the game is slowing down for him, and each season he's relying less & less on his running abilities & more on his passing. That's a good sign.
  15. Yeah, the context of his argument at the time wasn't wrong, but people probably disliked HOW he said it. I never understood why people got so bent out of shape when someone's opinion changes over time though. It happens to you, it happens to me, it happens to everyone on the planet. I understand it when people talk in absolutes, like "Allen will NEVER be good," or "there's ZERO chance the Bills EVER win a Super Bowl!" then sure, throw that in that person's face when they're wrong. But acting like Allen was guaranteed to turn out to great is flat wrong, and does a disservice to Allen. Even with what Cowherd said, he wasn't guaranteed anything... he had to really work at it. His continued dedication to improving, the hours he put in the film room, along with the support of the organization & coaches, all helped get him here. The time he put in during the last offseason especially, the dude EARNED it. He wasn't a sure-fire-hit, he wasn't tearing it up in college, he wasn't a day-1 savant... Which imo makes it even more impressive. There's very few instances (almost none that I can recall), of a QB drafted on potential, size, arm strength, etc. who weren't elite in college, weren't filling up stat sheets, and were so raw, being turned into top tier QB's once they began playing at the highest level in the NFL. And to have a team notorious for crappy QB play/development like the Bills develop the guy? THAT is amazing. How many teams in the future will go this route & completely bomb? Probably a ton. Hell, even Mahomes was seen as questionable. Many thought he was a system QB at Texas Tech, only with a great arm & athletic talent. Then in his first year as a starter, guy throws 50 TD's & is an MVP. QB's like Mahomes & Allen weren't Andrew Luck. Many people were going to be wrong in one way or another about them. After Allen's 2nd season, I still thought big games got into his head & lead to him making bizarre choices. His deep ball accuracy was among the worst in the league after 2 years, and not because people were dropping passes. He'd miss guys who had beaten their man & were wide open, or he'd rely on his mobility to keep a play alive & take huge, unnecessary sacks. Then the guy who couldn't beat you passing or throw for 300 yards shows up in year 3 & starts throwing for nearly 400, has nearly 70% accuracy & is nailing the deep ball to anyone he wants. You could literally see the fruits of his labor paying off before your eyes. And aside from the TN & KC games, he didn't disappoint in big games either. TL;DR - All I'm saying with this rant is Allen deserves the praise, the money and the attention because he worked his ass off & EARNED it!
  16. I'm on a crappy work PC right now, but if that's a real animal, that looks friggin MISERABLE. I don't care how much fur you have, that looks like the actual definition of hell to me 😂
  17. I always loved reading the people who stayed positive, but I grew to despise those who were just throwing out "UNDEFEATED + SB WIN!" every year, or would constantly ignore all reality & act like we were annual SB contenders after each draft (as if no other teams were ever improving). I mean c'mon, Dick Jauron, Chan Gailey, Rex Ryan, Mike Mularkey, Doug Marrone... And those QB's man...stop getting mad at people who aren't being homers claiming "SUPER BOWL!" after each game 🤣 I know, it's ok to be excited or stay positive, but I grew overly annoyed when those people would get mad at anyone having realistic expectations for not being supportive or "real fans." It's like I get it, you think Tyrod would be as good as Brady if only X, Y & Z fell into place, but I think he's mediocre! Whew, I think I just had some residual, pent up frustration I had to vent really quick. My bad, you were not the target good sir! Carry on lol
  18. Oh I still struggle with it. Anytime there's a close game or we're up against a good team, I can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop in some way. But even before the drought, Bills fans still expected some kind of collapse or self-inflicted-harm to screw us over. During the Kelly era, those Super Bowl losses had a way of messing with the fan psyche, then moving onto the Flutie/Johnson era you had 2 stupid collapses in the playoffs (with the notorious Music City Miracle being one). From there the drought starts, but we didn't know what it'd become at that time. We got Bledsoe, fail to make the post season, but then go on a winning streak to enter week 17 at 9-6 with a win-and-in scenario against Pittsburgh. On top of that, Pitt had already announced nearly every starter & most of the 2nd string would be resting, so we were up against a mix of 2nd & 3rd stringers. What happened? We laid an egg & missed the playoffs again. So yeah, the Murphy's Law mentality many fans had existed pre-drought, just cemented itself further as the years went on. Hell, back in the 90's my mom used to call them the heart-attack-team, as they always cut it close, scraped by with a win at the end, or choked in the last minute. I really feel bad for those 20-25ish years old & ONLY saw the drought until now. I can't imagine how it'd feel if you didn't at least have memories of when we were actually a winning team.
  19. As weird as it sounds, I'd be fine with your suggestions for Allen, but don't really want to see many of the other starters play. I know injuries can happen to anyone, but as long as he knows not to take off running & just gets a series or two in dropping back, staying in the pocket & getting rid of the ball (whether for a completion or not), he should be fine. On the flip side, I'd rather not see Diggs or Sanders or Beasley, as they need to run & face a lot more contact even if they're not going 100%. Risk of injury or something going wrong on a block or tackle is a lot higher, and I hope they don't play much at all.
  20. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/did-josh-allen-actually-sign-a-better-contract-than-patrick-mahomes-did-152438700.html "...Allen received a record $100 million in guaranteed money at signing (Mahomes received just over $63 million) and that he could make more money in the first seven years in his deal than Mahomes will through his Year 7." "Allen’s deal could allow him to earn $243 million through seven years. Mahomes would get a little more than $225 million over that same length of his contract. The discrepancy over the first three years is even more dramatic — Allen will outearn Mahomes in that span by a factor of nearly 50% (Allen is slated to earn $95 million, Mahomes just over $63 million)." Very interesting article. Yes, if you just average it all out, it comes out to Allen making about $2 million less per year. But in terms of what he actually gets in his 6 years compared to what Mahomes gets, Allen is making quite a bit more. By the time the extension is up, Allen will then likely be signing for even more money per year, again outpacing Mahomes. So in reality, Allen got far more guaranteed money up front, will get more money through those 6 years than Mahomes during that time, and will get to the negotiating table faster than Mahomes & ink a deal making even MORE money (the article suggests the cap will be over $300 million by that point). So when all is said & done, Allen stands to make more money on both ends.
  21. I think the HOF is filled with players from all eras that were standout performers for their time, though not all-time legends. Hell, many people could argue many of our own Bills legends are borderline HOF worthy, but we see them as all-timers for our franchise. Do I think he was an all-time legend? Not really, but he has more rushing yards than a lot of HOF RB's, was great for his era, and definitely helped make the Colts more than just the Peyton Manning show. He also had a couple 1,000+ yard seasons in Arizona, and was pretty much a reliable workhorse RB until injuries shut him down. I dunno, I can see both sides, but I'm in favor of giving them the nod. There are people that think a special team's player like Tasker should never be in, but we Bills fans know otherwise. I think in that Colts era, people like Harrison & James were pretty key to the Colts' success (outside of Manning).
  22. I don't even want to vote, just out of fear of seeing the results. If you think Josh should've taken less money, you're crazy. Even if he's the 2nd highest paid QB in the league, it would've cost us even more next year. If we had to pay him even more than Mahomes despite having less accolades, you still do it. We haven't had a franchise QB in decades... you pay what you have to when you get one! Had his contract been $46 million a year, I'd still be happy. Just knowing you're not looking for a QB year in & year out is a relief in itself.
  23. And fans that expected him to take much less, or give the Bills a discount because "reasons" can go cry now. He's making just less than Mahomes, the highest paid player in the league, and you know what... that's exactly what he deserves as a young, talented franchise QB. I'm just saying this for anyone who even so much as thought Josh should've taken less just to be a nice guy. It's the NFL, you should get paid what you're worth! Get your money now, and in time if you want to chase more rings (gotta assume we're going to win at least one SB right? lol), sure, take a cut if you want to help sign some more help. But until then, get every penny you can! As long as he keeps working hard as always, the money is well spent! I just want to say congrats to Josh, congrats to the Bills, congrats to the fans! It's not our money, so let's just be happy for the guy getting paid
  24. We get it, you were late in answer, geez! lol
  25. He will throw for 4,000 yards & 25 TD's to 0 INT's in garbage time alone!
