  1. I understand the sentiment that the timing makes this a bad move. Timing being in the playoffs. After the last 2 weeks what would change on offense with Taylor under center? Imo that is why the change is made. Mcdermott is not going to Petterman unless he thinks the offense has a potential to be better. That is really the biggest fix needed. Move the ball eat up clock and score points all helps the defense. Now here is to hoping Buffalo found their QB.
  2. The return of Baynard? But did it? For every good game Taylor had he also had some bad ones and some poor stretches and half's.
  3. Running/ mobile Qbs are more prone to sacks than traditional drop back passers. If the ball comes out on time at 3 steps there is nothing a pass rush can do.
  4. It will be better than 3 first downs and 9-18 for 50 yards. How much better? Idk. I like his game but who knows what happens now that he is the guy. Its a tougher game and tougher team than 3-6. If Peterman leads them to the win I would be very impressed. If the team loses I wont be surprised.
  5. I agree. That is why I like doing it now. Why wait like many expected? If you think Peterman might be the better player make the move and find out.
  6. I didnt see Taylor winning more than 2 more games. The team has lost confidence and needs someone to step up. If there wasnt a rookie on the roster good enough to play a change is not made. The future and offseason ramafications just hedges there bet with the switch to peterman. He plays poorly the get a higher pick and go for a Qb early.
  7. He was fringe elite than he messed up his shoulder twice and thats it.. Its been awhile but Joe Montana has a quote about playing qb in the NFL. Its not throwing darts at ballons. It is throwing ballons at darts. Release and anticipation are more important.
  8. So who is Flutie and who is Johnson? Is Taylor Flutie and Peterman Johnson or is Peterman Flutie and Taylor Johnson? Its a Bold move. Maybe one of these will actually work out in the teams favor and they can find there guy?
  9. If you have not watched any of Buffalo Bills football games you would be surprised by this. If you have watched them all you would be surprised by the timing. As a fan and after last weeks game I was completely discussed by the outcome. 3 or 4 interceptions would have been easier to swallow. The Saints didnt do anything exotic to stifle the passing attack. Fairly basic in design and it shut Taylor down to a terrible level. Since that game it has sparked the debate here and among all Bills fans and those reporters that exclusivity cover and or follow the franchise. There was a reason after the game the first question was about the starting QB and Tyrod Taylor. Yes the defense was historically bad. The offense also picked up 2 first downs after the first drive and before the final 4 mins of the game. I applaud Mcdermott for the move. Everyone expected that Taylor has regressed but popular opinion was wait til they are a longshot or out of the Playoff race. I think the smartest play is to make the move as soon as it is become an option. Why wait if your are already looking at the other Qb like a guy who is better now? Because he could fail? The only way you get great success is by taking great risks. The floor and bar are not high actually quite low. So on to Peterman. As well as the Chargers rush the passer how do you beat that? Quick passes on time in rythem. Precisely what Peterman does well and Taylor struggles with. So is Carson stadium and the 3-6 Chargers suddenly a hostile environment? I know one thing its no more intimidating than going on the road to undefeated #1 ranked Clemson.
  10. That 10 mil goes a long way. I have a feeling that the team will pouch whichever DT Carolina doesn't retain between Star Loutilie or Kewan Short. Beane already has an inside track on which player that is going to be. Again with Taylor i think you are over evaluating Taylor's market value. He took the pay cut last year because there were not any teams beating down his door. I guess a conditional pick could be had but the chances are low.
  11. Football is a complete team game. Both side of ball and all 3 units normally need to all make plays win football games. Going into last weekend, everyone knew that NO were a hot team and won 6 straight games. Offensively they are able to run the ball and by the way if you load up on it Brees will pick you apart. After each team has scored its 7-3 it became obvious to me that a shootout was going to happen. The Saints moved the ball with precision and than Buffalo's defense got the turn over deep in there own redzone. The following drive buffalo can not even pick a first down or two required to at minimum flip the field for the defense. 14-3. The offense does nothing again. Not a major victory but the defense holds them to a Fg with time remain before half to steal some point and momentum 17-3. Again 3 and out and leaves time for brees to make a few passes and get into scoring range. Next play sack and end of half with NO getting the Ball. A drive very similar to the first 2 of the game. makes it 24-3. Believe the next drive is the Int and the Saints have the ball on 3. Game over. I am not saying that a better offensive performance results in a Bills victory. But an offense that was able to move the ball and score some timely points changes the game and it is competitive.
  12. If Peterman plays well and we make the playoffs, that takes away the absolute need to reach and uses extra picks to make a move for a Qb. Now I believe if there is a QB that they love I am fine with them making a move regardless of Peterman's play. Outside of Peterman fueling an improbable Brady type Superbowl run, you still draft a Qb with one of the top 4 picks. The better he plays determines how many or which pick you use on the position. They have the capital to move up to 2 or 3 if they want. Peterman determines if Buffalo has to.
  13. In the preseason I saw Peterman do something I have never seen a QB do in a Bills uniform. He successfully threw a back shoulder fade. Hopefully, Peterman is the answer. Going to him in season when Buffalo is still in the playoff seems to tell me the coaches have a lot of faith in him. For me it makes the remainder of the season a lot more interesting. The last 2 weeks were very hard to watch.
  14. If Peterman plays well everyone in the NFL will know Buffalo will not pick up his 6 million option and make his 2018 contract 16 mil guaranteed. So the question stands why would anyone trade for Taylor when they can wait for him to be released and avoid giving up any assets and sign him for less of a cap hit?
  15. Lol Brady has nearly twice as many Tds 19, and Rodgers has a third more Tds 13 with 3 and 3/4 less games. i think Taylor has had a bumpier road than most during his time at QB but he has regressed as a passer this year and his confidence looked to be gone last week.
  16. The desprate move is to hope Taylor chages his play and the whole team plays perfect and they win enough to back into the playoffs. This is a 100% atypical football move. I like the decisiveness of the change. Once the idea and conversation shifted to Peterman possibly being the better passer make the move. Why wait on failure first?
  17. Get NFL gamepass condensed game mins 19, 21, 24 all similar defenses all of them he had time and couldn't get the ball out. Same defenses played vs Peterman.
  18. And you know lol. Taylor couldn't beat a basic NFL defense. Cover 2 has been around for years. As a pro QB you can't find the window in not the first, second, or third attempt in a row in the same situation you are no longer improving as a player.
  19. I dont really agree with the hot takes of the article at all. The players they jettisoned have all been here through the faillings. Darues lost his desire, he may get it back but it was lost here. Watkins and Darby for Matthews and Gaines plus a 2 and 3 equals a net gain to me. Jones was a project of a previous scouting department and Ragland isnt who he was a year ago and doesnt fit the defense. Taylor got exposed by a generic defense. Taylor made the Saints look like the 2000's Tampabay Bucs. The book has been out on the scheme for a decade and Taylor looked lost. That is why he is on the bench. No white vs balck. or mobile vs pocket passer.
  20. Because Lynn would rather be the OC for Buffalo than the Head coach for LAC. That was not a legitimate option.
  21. At 5-2 going into a primetime game vs an average opponent you don't trade the QB. The last few weeks the offense has been erratic to putrid. I like that Mcdermott made the change now instead of just conceding the season first before the move is made.
  22. 3rd and 7-10 plus they are not running the ball down multiple scores.
  23. No one wanted Taylor to throw into double coverage, i didn't anyways. If Taylor couldn't beat cover 2 on Sunday every team going forward would do the same thing. The Saints ran the same style of defense/scheme on every 3rd plus 5. Every team in the NFL has and can run cover 2. This is really basic stuff here and Taylor couldn't solve it once. You have windows and obviously those windows were open that is why the change was made. Call it prevent or garbage time, but Peterman faced the same look and made the right throws and hit the windows. As complicated and exotic NFL defense can be the QB was nullified by a basic defense on Sunday.
  24. I was an advocate of the move. That being said I really hope this has more to do with Peterman being ready to succeed than Taylor failing.
