Peterman is named starter. What happens when he throws more pick 6's then TDs? By halftime week 1 do you do what Houston did with Watson? Going to Peterman is delaying Allen what 2 or 3 weeks. Just give him the reps and let him improve and learn from his mistakes. He showed vs Cincy under pressure he will not be sloppy with the football. Under a similar scenerio last year Peterman had the worst half by any Qb in 40 years.

Please name Josh Allen the starter

I think Allen gives the Bill's the best chance to win real football games. I dont think we have seen Dabolls offense yet, and having McCoy in the backfield changes how a defense will attack. If Peterman starts I see that going down hill fast and Allen plays sooner rather than later. Peterman doesnt have the arm to challenge down the field or outside the numbers. His front side throw to the boundary hangs and is a pick six waiting to happen. -
Sal Carpaccio: Corey Coleman Is In Trouble
Mat68 replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. Only been here 2 weeks. He is by far the fastest wr on the roster. With Allen's deep ball ability he is at worst a decoy/gadget wr. -
You could see improvement from Carolina to Cleveland. Against Carolina he missed on the 3 50 yard passes. Besides those his short and intermediate accuracy has been fantastic. His accuracy was told to erratic. Make great passes and look terrible on simple ones. That has not been the case at all. He has had fantastic ball placement and his velocity on shorter passes allows for more yac. He easily gives Buffalo the best chance to win. Getting the start Sunday is the last dotting of I and crossing the T to him winning the position.

Better Dline, and secondary depth. Better wrs corp with a Healthy Benjamin, Streater, and Coleman.

Allen is coming into a playoff team who I would argue improved in the offseason. We dont need Cam Newton or Andrew Luck rookie seasons to be successful.

Rob Ryan on Colin Cowherd today, a few interesting tidbits
Mat68 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After being kid to the curb in Buffalo Rob Ryan would have all the reason to hate on Buffalo. That said he praised Allen and the coaching staff. -
Best thing that happens is Allen plays well and leaves no doubt and is named starter afterwards. Allen regressing and Peterman/McCarron are needed to start is disappointing and uninspiring.

Give him 3 weeks of first team reps. Starting Peterman is like the Texans starting Savage last year. -
I think Allen passed McCarron last night. The injury or no injury. Allen looks like a starting Qb.

With Mcarron out Allen is the obvious choice. Peterman is going throw ugly picks. Allen might as well but he will also get you chunk plays.

We Learn A Lot About Allen When He Plays the Browns

This is what I believe. He plays as well or better than last week he starts next week. -
Preseason Game 2: vs. Browns 8/17

Or he plays well and the national media tempers all the expectation because he is inaccurate. -

Agree. He is the darkhorse to start week 1 imo. -

It does seem like a way to artificially create some urgency and pressure for a preseason contest. Those are the 2 things good QBs do best. With a lot on the line play calm inside yourself and rise to the occasion. With Coleman instead of Foster running under his deep ball he could still the show tomorrow night. -
The final score in preseason is meaningless. First team, second team who plays better? Buffalo looked good. Allen showed potential. I'm curious how he looks with a supporting cast that will make the team. If he continues to play well and earns a chance at starting next week my optimism is sky high. I believe Allen could have a big Ben type of entry into the NFL. Buffalo relies on shady and defense, Allen makes enough plays win games.

OKTC recaps the 2013 preseason hype of EJ Manuel
Mat68 replied to quinnearlysghost88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had all the intangibles but would have terrible practices. If Allen was throwing the ball that poorly the media would have a feild day. -
So who else is excited for Allen vs Mayfield this Friday?
Mat68 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm excited for Allen having Coleman tracking his deep ball. That's 2 TDs with him on the field instead of Foster. Little better line play better pass catchers is all good things. I would like to see Aj 1st Allen 2 and 3. Peterman 4th. I really hope the offensive staff and McDermott dont do what Houston did. Start the vet because he's the vet even though he is less talented. Get a few quarters into the season and go to Allen. -
With training camp a few days from closing which QB is the front runner to be the starter week 1? After every report, every rep where is it trending? As conservative as McDermott seems, he wants to win. Daboll wants to win. Allen can make 3 to 4 plays a game that changes momentum and the outcome. Safe money, McCarron but Allen is a live dog, who imo separates the next few weeks.

I dont see Coleman as a slot Wr. I think he lines up outside and stretches the defense vertically. With his speed he can run the go and Moss's stop go for 30 yards. Three Wr sets I think you see Kerley and Mcclud as traditional slots. I expect to see Benjamin lined up and moved around in a similar manner NE uses Gronk in passing situations. In those instances Jones or Streeter line up outside. The addition of Coleman is kind of a unheralded move but really helps define roles and options in the offense. The Wr Corp really isn't that bad. Benjamin, Coleman, Kerley, Jones, Streeter, Mcloud would be my choice.

National Josh Allen buzz after 1 preseason half
Mat68 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those are 2 of the most accurate QBs ever. To expect that is ridiculous. Heck Mayfield doesnt have that expectation. No after seeing him play he is not inaccurate. He is the purest thrower Buffalo may have ever had. If Buffalo can coach him up and get him up to speed with the mental side he could be a franchise qb. -
National Josh Allen buzz after 1 preseason half
Mat68 replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After Thursday night, if you are questioning Allen's accuracy you either didn't watch the game or have blind hatred for Allen. He has the tools be one the purest passers in the league. He made throws that really only Rodgers could complete. I'm not sure if the game is slowed down enough to warrant starting week 1 but when he does look out. Friday night when Allen has Coleman tracking the deep ball instead of Foster the conversation may be mute. Foster pulls in either deep TD the national media is praising Allen as the steal of the draft. The stats looked like he is inaccurate. When really he had a guy give up on a route, and short arm another. -
An in shape motivated Kelvin Benjamin is a bad mofo. The money being thrown at Wr is massive. If he gets 1000 yards 10 TDs he could become 1 of the highest paid players. 6-5 250 cant be guarded. I expect Dabol to use him similar to Gronk in the passing attack.
-
Completely agree. I'm impressed with his ball placement. 1 or 2 throws off the mark looked like miscommunication with the wr on the route. Allen with Benjamin and Coleman is a massive difference from Foster and Proehl.
