McBeane gave Peterman his shot....
Mat68 replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year Obrien did the identical move with Deshaun Watson. Kept saying how he wasnt ready than after a first half similar to Baltimore Watson was brought in and they never looked back. Really only difference for Allen's performance was that Benjamin dropped the Td that Hopkins caught for Watson. -

McBeane gave Peterman his shot....

I dont understand why Mcdermott wouldn't do with Allen what he did with Edmunds. Similar age both freaky athletes both a little raw. Edmunds from first day at mini camp was groomed by McDermott to be the guy, how to lead. While at the same time Allen was regulate to third and getting the least amount of first team reps. Now 4 months later after 2 quarters of the first game Allen who was prepared to play the least by the coaching staff is the obvious player that needs to play. Same blunder Obrien made, Lovie Smith and Jon Fox got fired for it. It's a pretty big indictment of his evaluation and expectation of the position. -

Use him like a flex tight end. In 4 to 5 wides line him up inside the slot. Him attacking the seam with an option to the post or corner. -

Peterman's development is no further along than Allen's. Allen's natural gifts will result in a handful of big plays. With Allen's arm and athletic ability Buffalo needs to use Dimarco and go to 1 and 2 Wr sets. Kahri Lee I would activate and use on first and second down to assist the run game. They have the ability to spread out Clay, Croom and Thomas. Try to get the defense to over commit and to the run, use tempo and spread them out. If they go small pack it in and run the ball. I believe they have the personal, it would play into a young QBs favor. Easy reads max pass pro. -
This says it all...wide the hell open

It comes down to natural ability. The seam pass was never an option. If he looks to the right the safety stays in center field and he doesnt have the arm to get the ball there. This is why Peterman cant play in the NFL because smart defense know there are routes he cant throw so they can cheat off those and smother the ones he can. -

McDermott wasted 3 weeks pretending Peterman was ever anything more than a scout team Qb. Idk his infatuation with him as a player. Little, the worst Qb ever. -
No matter how poor a loss, it's still just 1 loss. Very similar to the game in LA last season, or vs NO. The stretch is difficult, if Allen survives it he could steady himself and team for a late season run with the way the schedule is structured.
-
The Offense is desperate for speed. McCloud is going to get alot of playing time inside. Kerley, Benjamin and Jones cant separate. Perriman though a bust should be brought it for at least a threat of someone getting over the top.
-
He is just not a NFL caliber Qb. Preseason vs vanilla defense and sub NFL talent is not the same as faces a team schematiclly designed to attack your weaknesses. Allen is, was and always should have been the guy when he replaced Aj McCarron at Cleveland. The offense should have had 3 weeks of molding to Allen's strengths and preparation for a tough first month.
-
He needs to take his lumps and get used to the NFL game. Peterman is not and should not be a starter or contributor to an NFL offense. Allen is going to have poor performances but also have great plays. A few tweaks and the defense will be pretty formidable. The offense is a concern for me. Get a power run game going. Pull with Miller and Groy. Allow the offensive line to move forward. Use a fullback and put Allen under center. Ugly it up offensively and get some chunks plays of PA.
-
The best thing out of the game is that Edmunds is going to be a stud. He was all over the feild and is already close to be being out best player. The Nate Peterman experience should officially be over. Game plan around Allen and get him ready.

The Ravens are a team I hate to play when they come in unharolded. They are being portrayed like some juggernaut that they are not. Their offense has 0 playmakers and their Qb hasnt been good in 3 years. If Peterman doesnt heavy up some arm punts like he is in LA, I expect Buffalo to easily cover and if not win the game out right. Qb Ravens by default Backfield Bills Wrs. Push Te Bills Oline Ravens Dline Push Lb Ravens Secondary Bills

This is wrong. He gutted an underachieving expensive roster void of any franchise players. Turned some nice players into assets that landed a possible franchise Qb and Middle linebaker in year 1. Year 2 with money and a foundation I'm curious to see how he chooses to build it. I expect draft heavy on the lines and Fa on the perimeter.

Landing a franchise Qb is the hard part. You get Miami with Suh, as well. That's the model though. Money is finite, however home grown all pro talent should be retained if they are healthy in their prime. -

The Raiders need a complete roster rebuild. Carr is making 20mil. Very difficult to pay 2 20 mil contracts. Also, Davis is the most cash poor owner. Paying 80 mil out of pocket might not be option. Best case is to get a franchise Qb on a rookie deal. Than you have the urgency to win now with an expectation of a Superbowl run. Seattle, Philly, and Rams all used that model. Once you have a franchise Qb price tag rosters usually change and more resources are allocated to protecting that guy. Defenses are cheap and young. Imo Trubisky and the Bears are alot closer than some believe. That defensive front 7 can now rival any in the NFC. They have a great running game. Brought in loads of pass catchers. If Allen becomes something next offseason Buffalo will do something very similar. Outside of a pass rusher, Buffalo will add weapons and lineman. -
With a good running threat in McCoy, multiple formations with Clay, croom, Dimarco, the offense should be much improved. I like the idea of fB 2 te 3 te sets with the ability to split or run heavy. LB on Croom Clay and Thomas is a miss match. I think Benjamin also will be moved around alot in the passing attack similar to Gronk in NE.
-
Yes it is. He looked the same vs the Jaguars as he did vs the Chargers. The Ravens have a very good defense and will be playing aggressive. A pick 6 and some bad half of football could lead to Allen entering the game.
-
I hope he plays well and Buffalo wins. I can not help but think Buffalo is about to do what Houston did last year with Savage. First half cant move the ball multiple sacks and picks and then Watson moves in at halftime.
