Wr is the biggest need. Or get a guy who slipped. -
What I Don't Understand About Fan Reaction to Allen
Mat68 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your in your right if you choose to be negative that is fine. Allen was rated as 1,2,3 Qb in a very deep draft depending where you look. Maybe you are looking at CBS who has Rudolph 1 who is not drafted yet.. Ej Manuel and Jp Losman are not the same caliber of Qb prospect Allen is. There was talk he goes top 5 last year above Trubisky, above Mahomes, above Watson. This year he went above Rosen and Jackson. Neither Ej or JP would have gone ahead of either Rosen or Jackson. Best arm in the last 20 years. More athletic then Wentz. Has similar traits to Cam Newton. Turned around a perennial bottom feeder College to the first back to back bowl games since 88-89. -
Will Shaq Lawson get dealt during draft?

Could they get a second rd or 3rd pick for him? I could see them using him in a trade up scenario. -

BPA. I will not be suprised i they move to the end of 2nd early third for a player they are targeting. I could see oline or wr being the target. Deep threat would need to be the target if they go Wr and I think there is still alot of good guards/ centers available. Either them would make sense. -
I thought Ej had alot of potential. My problem with Ej was that he looked un natural throwing the football.

Edmund will play Mike. He is Anthony Barr with college tape and more potential. This is a 3 down stud at linebacker.

What I Don't Understand About Fan Reaction to Allen
Mat68 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One word. Neither were the generational talents Allen is. Allen is a legitiment franchise potential Qb in any draft. Losman was a consilation price and Ej had the most to work with in a terrible qb draft. -
Its the live of a portion of the Bills fans. For years, Buffalo needs to take a risk and bring in a guy who can be a franchise Qb. in a draft where there are 5 legit Qb prospects. Buffalo trades up like many wanted and got a QB. Kept 22 and draft a guy inconsideration for 1. Buffalo had to out bid Arizona for 7 and they did. Now its not the one they wanted because an internet troll convinced you he will be a bust. Next need is Lb and they get one of the few blue chip talents in the draft. He is a rare athlete at linebacker. Again they gave up too much. A third and got a 5 back. He would not bet there at 22. Buffalo drafted the most athletic linebaker with super star potential, and the most athletic and gifted Qb with Franchise Qb potenial. How anyone could have sour grape after last night is insane.

Numerous people had Allen rated above Rosen and Mayfield. Allen has more potential, a better arm, and loads more escapability.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - "Sling It and Bring It"
Mat68 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good read. Reguardless of your opinion, most agree Qb and Lb were the biggest holes on the team. R 1 Buffalo got the most talent player at each position. What they have you can not teach they are now the pillars of the franchise. Something Buffalo has not had in a long time. Lets see what happens tonight. With all the cap space next season I would not be surprised if a 2nd or 3rd in 2019 gets moved and Buffalo moves up again tonight. -
Injury concerns/ Durability. Imo Buffalo was high on both of them and at the end of the day value Allen's arm and size for the November December home schedule. Allen is home in Buffalo. Long term Allen has a higher ceiling than Rosen. Allen's floor is higher because its assumed he will be more durable.

None of the 5 QB's taken in the 1st round will start this year.

I would be disappointed if he could not. Push come to shove if Allen doesn't throw up on himself he beats them out. -
Beane & McDermott Address the Buffalo Media after Round 1

Boller was actually much worst. He was under 50% Marino was much worst but that is nearly 40 years ago. -

What is this historical data? Qbr, completion %? Are we only talking recent history or NFL history? Its easy to paint stats in an effort to determine future outcomes that meet pre determined outcomes and biases. Tell me a Qb who succeed in the NFL with poor passer rating and completion %? Farve. No you cant use Farve he was drafted 30 years ago. Well Allen has the best arm in 30 years? -
Your right. players normally improve year over year. I would ask what changed for Wyoming in 2016 to 2017. 2016 Allen had much better personal around him, in 2017 his skill players where very inexperience. In 2016 he had a higher rating than Rosen. Call it an excuse. Sam Darnold operated out of a much more Qb friendly offense and from 2016 to 2017 Darnolds rating dropped at about the same rate Allens did. Why? his skill players and o lineman left and he had inexperienced players around him. Qb rating is not the end all nor is completion %. We are talking about modern era so the Qbs of the 80 and 90 do not count. i would argue this past season Allen's offense was closer to that era of football than the one it is in. You dont like him that is fine. Im very high on him. We can both agree that Allen has the most potential than any Qb has had here since Kelly.
-
More than 2/3 belive he will not be a bust. Can we put to rest that narrative now and enjoy the fact for the first time in 25 years Buffalo has a Qb with franchise Qb potential.
-
Why isnt Colt Brennan an All pro? He set the record for Qb rating when he was in college.

What I Don't Understand About Fan Reaction to Allen
Mat68 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was no reach. In a draft with alot of elite talent at Qb Allen was considered by some as the best. Everyone who hates him as a prospect see the potential in him and admit he has the highest ceiling. Buffalo did not reach for a player. Buffalo did not over spend for player last night. Allen is the most talented Qb buffalo has had in 20 years plus. Allen may already have the best arm in the NFL at 21. He is a late bloomer. Wanted to play football in college. 0 Division 1 offers. Went JR college. Still wanted to play division 1. Went to the worst college in the country because it was his only offer. After his first game there was buzz about this kid out of nowhere in Wyoming. If he declared last year he would have been a top 10 pick. Embrace the ride. If Allen gets to even half of his potential Buffalo has a hell of a QB for many years. -
There is no correlation between college QB rating at pro football success 0, none.
-
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/leaders/pass-rating-player-season.html QB rating is meaningless. Lets just build around Taylor because his top 10 QB rating.

What I Don't Understand About Fan Reaction to Allen
Mat68 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he develops a drug and weight problem he may. For year Buffalo needs a Qb. Buffalo trades up and gets to picks between 2 very good players at QB and they went with the guy with more potenial and better fit for the team lets cry because its not "my guy". Time for the arm chair scouts to go back to their 9 to 5 jobs. The reality is Buffalo has the best Qb they have had since Kelly. He is he first Qb the franchise has ever selected inside the top 10. Rumor has it Buffalo had to give up both second rounders to outbid Arizona. Buffalo got the guy they want while keeping 22. Last night was a great night time to enjoy the ride. -
