  1. Zay doesn't get blame for this. This was Tyrod's worst game in the three years that he has been there. Was it an exception or a norm? We will see this year, but starting a thread to blame Zay Jones shows a lack of football knowledge.
  2. That would have been an amazing catch, but that is more on Taylor than Zay, bad throw there.
  3. I'm not comfortable with this signing unless he has bionic forearms. If anything kills our season, it will be those horrific broken forearms that knock players out for the season.
  4. It is a big tossup between Hoch and Coleman. You can hand the win to the bigger market team 95 percent of the time either way. I think that I still dislike Hochuli more because regardless of the teams, you will get 30-40 overall penalties from him along with a not needed long winded explanation on more than half of those. I swear that he singlehandedly adds 30-60 minutes to any game that he refs.
  5. Yes, in small ways. There was actually discipline again and minimal mistakes. I was actually watching the game and NOT expecting Buffalo to blow it. My biggest positive take away is that much of the lack of discipline and communication that Rex added to this team is gone. This gives Buffalo a good chance to win some games even with less talent. Am I thinking playoffs? No, not yet. Too many disappointments in the past 6 years, too tough of a schedule. Buffalo did what they were supposed to do in a home game against a bad team. It is a nice start. . Week 2 to 7 is a schedule that would give any team trouble. The second half doesn't let up either with two Games against New England and one at Kansas City. If Buffalo can go 3-3 in the next six weeks and than beat the Jets in Week 8, I will start to have a little hope for playoffs.
  6. I heard otherwise. They told me that they were taking him to a farm with a very nice farmer who didn't care if a football player lost an arm. Unfortunately the farm is very, very far away, so they said we cant ever visit him.
  7. 5-6 Wins is very possible, the schedule is not friendly at all. The first half of the schedule is very tough. Week 1 and 8 are the Jets, those are winnable, not locks but winnable. Between that is @ Carolina, Denver, @Atlanta, @ Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Oakland. To be 4-4 they would have to sweep the Jets and then pull off two wins in that six game stretch. The second half has more winnable games but also has two against New England and a game @ Kansas City. 2015 and 2016 gave Buffalo a generous amount of winnable games. 2017 is brutal. The only 5 games that i see where Buffalo could possibly be the favored team are the two jets games, the two dolphins games and home against Indianapolis. If Buffalo is even contending for the playoffs, they will have overachieved.
  8. Like the optimism, have I doubt it. Ive been there before other years. Granted New England is bound to drop, but even if they backpedal, 9 or 10 wins may be enough to win the AFC east. Buffalo has almost a completely different team, in a new system. After the Jets, they have a very tough 6 game stretch. For me to have any hope Buffalo has to be where New England is in week 13 and beat them. Lots of if Ands and buts before that.
  9. I was upset when I heard that, very annoyed. Seeing Gilmore get toasted and KC dominate the second half made me feel much better though.
  10. You know, I saw it coming a mile away, but when the Patriots have 1/4 of the penalties that the Chiefs have, something is dead wrong with the league. Besides Bills games, I am going to have a really hard time watching the NFL this year.
  11. Flutie, Bledsoe, Taylor, Fitz, Orton Flutie- Ok, physically he was opposite of an NFL quarterback, but he he played hard and got the team to the playoffs more often than not. Bledsoe-A star QB, last of his era where mobility wasn't needed. Wasn't necessarily bad, but could not get it done behind a bad O-Line unless a 500 record was OK with you. Taylor-Jury is out but every fan of any other team now tells me that Bills fans are too picky and that Taylor is actually pretty good. They are the same people that always ball busted me on the Edwards/Losman etc type. Fitz-A poor man's Flutie. Was a welcome relief after the nightmare they we know as the Losman/Edwards era. Often threw the interception at the worst time but then again I can see the gunslinging mentality, what QB could compete with the Chan Gailey defenses on the other side? Orton-2014 was the one year the Playoffs could have happened in the past decade. The defense was firing at all cylinders. All we needed was an average stop gap level starter QB and not a screw up. Orton almost was that, but sadly at 9-7 fell short,. Even more unfortunate is that this is still good enough for number 5 in the last 20 years.
  12. Jump the gun a little OP? Maybe this team wont be good, but it is week 1. You never know what a team is going to do in a given season. There are always one or two teams that shock everyone. Rooting for a tank is dumb because a QB is never a guarantee even at #1. Doing it at week 1 is even worse. I will pull for this team and hope for playoffs as long as there is statistically a chance.
  13. They failed to get Oshack Hennessey? They done messed up! Insubordinate and churlish!
  14. After thinking through this whole weekend, the only two things that I don't get is J Williams being cut and the insistence that Ducasse should start over Miller. As far as the WIlliams trade, I think there will be more to this story in the next couple of days. If a suspension is coming or an upgrade at running back via trade or sign is in the works, it will make sense. If not, than it doesn't. Regarding Ducasse, I have a feeling that they will figure out sooner rather than later that Miller is the better option. I just hope that it is not at the expense of Taylor or Peterman's health.
  15. Funny, I joked about this on another thread about 3 or for hours ago. I would take him over Yates though.
  16. And if Luck was under this current regime, they would trade him to a team for a 2020 6th round pick after agreeing to a contract with Joe Webb.
  17. This would be the dumbest move of all. Even if the team for whatever reason feels like the Russian turnstile is worthy of starting at right guard, you are dumping a third year player drafted in the 3rd round who has at the very least been average when starting. Miller would certainly be a better backup option than a preseason cut waiver claim on the panthers........right?
  18. This is one that I do not get. If this team is truly tanking, I would rater see what Jonathan Williams can do than a few career backup RB's in their late 20's and early 30's
  19. Another thought that I have. Even if Clay is a great returner, it is not going to matter if there is a flag before the he has the ball for more than a second on 80 percent of returns. Buffalo needs to have more discipline on special teams than they did in the preseason.
  20. I think that Spiller would have been better suited being groomed in a Sproles/Woodhead/Gillislee type role. Its too bad that Buffalo saw him as a top 10 draft choice and tried to treat him as that franchise back that could endure 20-30 carries every game. . It seems like KC would have been one of the few situations where he may have had a chance if there was anything left. With Charles gone from the team and Ware hurt for the year, he still could not even crack the roster. This may be the end for him in football. I hope he does well for himself in life.
  21. My questions are. Could we have gotten this guy anyway after the cuts? Does he bring anything to the team that Tate or Reilly couldn't bring? If Seymour was going to be cut anyway, I get trading him, but why not for a more relevant pick instead of a player who appears to be a lateral move from our cut receivers and a 7th round pick two years from now.
  22. I don't think that this is always a bad strategy for a team with a new coach that still has talented players on both sides of the ball. You just have to follow that up with a few good drafts and strategic adding of the right players in following seasons. Buffalo had epic bad drafts during the Jauron era and overpaid for mediocre free agents like Dockery, Walker and Stroud. That was what resulted in team failure and a complete lack of talent on the team when Jauron left. Hopefully the drafts during the McDermott era add more talent.
  23. Ive seen enough Fast Freddy Smith, Drew Haddad, Martin Nance, Deonte Thompson type preseason star WR's to know that most of these disappointing cuts end up turning out as nothing more than 5th receivers or practice squad players. Reilly I think will be different. He seems to have what it takes to have a solid NFL career somewhere down the road. Hopefully, we can stash him on the practice squad.
  24. Beane: Here’s a peculiar…uh…Greg Pyle McDermott: Who’s he? Brandon: You know, squirrely looking guy, mumbles a lot. McDermott: Oh, yeah. Pegula: Yeah, we…we can’t actually find a record of him currently being on the roster. Beane: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that he was cut five months ago and no one ever told him about it. But through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck. Brandon: So we just went ahead and fixed the glitch. Pegula: Great. Mcdermott: So, uh, Pyle has been cut? Pegula: Well, just a second there, professor. We, uh, we fixed the glitch. So he won’t be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it’ll just work itself out naturally. Brandon: We always like to avoid confrontation whenever possible. Problem is solved from your end.
