2nd Half thread: Bills vs Colts preseason week 1
dgrochester55 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills fans are louder in the preseason then the fans of some teams are in the regular season. -
Praying earnestly for the health and safety of Josh Allen this year.

I dont think it is racism either because Geno Smith just started a few games last year. When it comes to talent, there is no doubt that Kaepernick could do more than Peterman. In 2017 and 2018 I would have put Kaepernick in the same tier that Winston, Mariotta and Trubisky are currently in, Spot starter/good backup who would likely get one more chance to carry a team somewhere down the road.. One other thing to consider is that Kaepernick focused more on his cause than training for football. He lot a lot of weight after a year or two and was not in football shape or anywhere near it. Many of these other quarterbacks are training non stop while networking, interviewing and trying out. Kaepernick was removed from that scene. A team needs someone who is in game shape and not going to get hurt if their starter goes down. If Kaepernick was to get back in game shape, I dont see any problem with him getting a shot somewhere.

I don't have anything against the guy. He was not so much bad as he was not at the level of a #3 pick or his extended contract. I dont see him making the Ravens team though have been out of football for so long and declining beforehand. Hopefully he is playing because he wants to and not because he lost all of his money.

Rd 6, Pick 180 (1): Punter Matt Araiza, San Diego State
dgrochester55 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Never thought that I would be this excited about a 6th round pick or a punter, but here we are. Araiza is the Chuck Norris of punters. -
I never heard of him and thought there were others before him, but I remember Tre'davious white being an under the radar pick too. I trust McDermott's judgement on corners and if he as anywhere near as good as White, than the 4th round pick is worth the trade up.

Williams and Losman are strong cases if you go by what the Bills could have done instead. As an individual, I think that it is Maybin hands down. At least Williams and Losman played for awhile. Maybin played less than most 7th rounders and seemed to have a worse attitude that most players. There were other much better options available at the position and practically everyone knew that it was a bad choice right away. Manuel is the least of a bust out of these choices. Yes he was bad, but when Matt Barkley is the best you could have done that year, I consider to be more of an unfortunate circumstance. The bigger mistake was not only going all in on Fitz, but being content with Tyler Thigpen as a backup and not drafting any quarterback once between 2008 and 2012. Had Buffalo drafted Wilson or even Dalton or Foles, there would not have been a need to pick a qb in 2013 and the drought may have ended sooner.

Packers Signing Sammy Watkins To 1 Year Deal
dgrochester55 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sadly with the Packers current group, he may be their number 1 unless they draft someone who can play immediately.. -
Urban Meyer - "Worst experience in my professional life“

Now Urban knows how the Jaguars players felt during his tenure. -
Beasley had three broken ribs last season?
dgrochester55 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beasley was a big part of Allen's development and people loved him until a specific topic came up last year. It is fair to say that moving on was a cap necessity or that his production was down last year. It is unfair to pretend that he was not a key contributor in his first two years here or to imply that he was a bad person. We moved on and it makes sense that we did, but I wish him well. -
Jarvis Landry wants $20 million a year
dgrochester55 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
and I want a corvette and a mansion by the lake. Some things are just not going to happen. -
I remember McDermott doing this during his first year or two with the Bills. Doesnt hurt to have a few people who are accustomed to your system. Giants are going to need at least a couple of years to rebuild their team either way.

Brian Daboll hired to be Head Coach of NY Giants
dgrochester55 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am glad that Daboll is getting a chance to coach somewhere. I wonder his he will take a lot of Bills castoffs in the same way that McDermott did with the Panthers in the beginning of his stint? If so, might I suggest starting with Edmunds? -
How many chances does McDermott have left?
dgrochester55 replied to Igotbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
4 playoff appearances in five years after a 16 year playoff drought. You know, the drought that happened when Buffalo switched coaches every two or three years? For every Bellichik and Reid out there, you have ten Dick Jaurons, Gregg Williams and Mike Mularkeys. An upgrade is not guaranteed if mcdermott is fired. Some changes and upgrades are needed in coaching and player personal, but McDermott has created a winning culture here. There is no need for a complete overhaul. The offense is where it needs to be and the defense can be too with a couple more players, a new coordinator and a better scheme. -
Honestly what do you do moving forward?
dgrochester55 replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
Replace frazier and upgrade the defense. Linebackers are the top priority in the offseason, add at least two starting caliber players. Keep milano as a starter and Klein as a backup. Get rid of Edmunds. After that, I don't know. Outside of Buffalo being good, NFL is so hard to watch for me. Terrible officiating across the board, Announcing is all about stories and narrative, excessive commercials. I am sure that I'll be back next year, I always am, but I have no desire to watch any more games this year and feel like I hit a breaking point with how much I can tolerate tonight. -
If the Bills re-sign Edmunds, they're stupid.
dgrochester55 replied to damj's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edmunds will command too much money to be worth resigning. Try to trade him, he would have some value. Let a team like Detroit or Jacksonville take a chance on him as the guy to rebuild their defenses and be happy with him until they play the big teams in the playoffs. -
Can't wait for Frazier to leave
dgrochester55 replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Take edmunds with him and find a pro bowl caliber linebacker to replace him. This defense has pretty good people but needs a top player who is also a leader. -
I feel bad for Allen, there is nothing else that he could have possibly done more to win that game besides getting out there and covering Kelce or Hill himself.
-
Coaching killed us. Hopefully someone takes Frazier off our hands and Buffalo can add at least one true pro bowl caliber defensive player to the front seven. Defense is just fine against bad teams and rookie quarterbacks but is useless against the top tier of offenses.

Today shows why including a 7th seed in the playoffs adds nothing of value to anyone besides advertisers.

Flores turned a team that was gutted and predicted to be winless by many before 2019 into a borderline playoff contender in seasons two and three. Seems like a premature move to fire him since the next coach isn't guaranteed to be better, but I have no problem with a division rival making poor decisions and switching systems every two or three years.
