Interesting Tyrod Stat from Mike Rodak
transplantbillsfan replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's kinda testy... plus he evidently has reading comprehension and communication issues. But he's a helluva poster... I mean DAMMMNNNN!!!! Look at that rep!!! -
I've said and said and said that my top choices are Mayfield and Darnold, period. I also like Rudolph. I've actually said initially I didn't want Jackson specifically because he was too much like Taylor, but having researched and looked him over, I've warmed up to him so that now he's my #3 or #4, since I'd also put Rosen up in the top 3, but I legitimately don't think he's on our radar, despite rumors otherwise. I swear to Christ, if Taylor isn't the topic of conversation, leave it to the obsessed anTy Taylor crowd to be sure to bring him in, somehow.

It's really just kinda starting to feel like Lamar Jackson may be our guy if we're unable to trade up for Darnold. I know all the rumors about Rosen... I just don't believe them... but who knows, I know I'd be excited to get him. But too much of that is out there from what has been a generally leak-free organization over the last year.

IF we don’t get a FA QB, and can’t trade up....
transplantbillsfan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well... we all know you're a big Eeyore so it's not shocking you don't expect much next year. I think McBeane has something different in mind... and given another year to build the team they want, 8 draft picks in the first 5 rounds and a free agency period soon underway... I think you're at best being cautious but most likely just being foolish tempering your expectations to the point where you believe this team takes a big step back next year. Early stages... obviously... but I'm calling playoffs again. Now it's time to take the next step and win some playoff games -
Bills can kill 2 birds with 1 stone

Good God this draft and Free Agency period is going to be super exciting! Wood's unfortunate retirement makes this a serious possibility. But without even looking at any of the responses yet, I'll ask the question impact sure multiple posters have asked you: Who's the QB? -
Bridge QB Reality Check
transplantbillsfan replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don’t care what you do with your Sundays, I just think it’s interesting in terms of choices of what to do on a Sunday, you’re choosing to sit on a Bills message board insulting people rather than fishing or enjoying your day. Yikes! -
Bridge QB Reality Check
transplantbillsfan replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coaches teach young QBs about mechanics, understanding the offense, progressions, etc. Where the hell does this assumption that the 1st string QB teaches that to the 2nd string QB come from? If a young QB can glean anything from a vet QB he’s sitting behind, it would be leadership and work ethic, and Taylor would get high marks in both categories, I’m sure. -
Bridge QB Reality Check

Wha... bu... I ca... It’s literally like some people here are just going to keep saying whatever they believe even in direct response to threads that essentially and logically nullify it. I mean, after all, why bother reading and understanding someone else’s arguments when I have opinions that are all my own, right? -
Bridge QB Reality Check

And so you follow it up with a condescending and immature "look at me" post rather than maturely ignoring his thread. Vicious cycle as it goes. His might be a "look at me" thread, but it's a thoughtful one that really only has to exist because tribalism is making some of you anTy Taylor guys absolutely insane... like to the point where people are actually saying Trevor Siemian and Rick Mirer are/were better QBs than Tyrod Taylor. If McBeane sees our QB situation the same way as the OP, which I think is rather likely, then I really hope the fish are abundant for you on those Fall Sundays that you refuse to watch a team you've been a fan of for 45 years because... well... I guess you legitimately view Taylor as the worst starting QB in a Bills uniform in nearly half a century...? -
Ladies and gentlemen... here's reading between the lines with lesson #1 in identifying when poster Thurman#1 admits he's wrong. The above, loosely translated = "when I said Taylor had next to no chance remaining on the roster past March 16th and that anyone who thought otherwise was delusional, I WAS WRONG." Lesson complete

Real value, huh? What's the Cap impact if we cut Taylor tomorrow? Now subtract that number from $23 million and you have your real Cap impact for the next 2 years. Forgive me if I don't take much credence from the guy who said there was nearly no chance in Buffalo paying Taylor his $6 million bonus by March 16th, yet the reports right now are that that's exactly what they're going to do unless they can trade him before then. Siemian sucks and would be a big downgrade from Taylor. McBeane won't downgrade the position. And this isn't me saying that Simeon won't be on the team. I can reasonably Envision him being a Buffalo Bill, but it would only be because we've traded up likely with Denver to the V Spot and plan on getting one of the top 2 or 3 QBs. That would constitute an upgrade and would absolutely be reason for Taylor to be gone. But if we aren't massively trading up like that and we stay put right around where we are in the draft, Buffalo more likely than not will keep Taylor for one more year.
-
Good God man... we don't want him because he's got no exceptional aspect to his game, whatsoever. Yeah, like Tyrod he was a late round draft pick. But Tyrod has exceptional athleticism... which is the whole reason there's ever been the prospect of him being a Franchise QB. What exceptional quality or characteristic does Siemian possess? If we bring him in, we've traded Taylor to the Broncos for Siemian in a massive package to move up to #5 to draft our starting QB. Siemian, at best, would be a momentary placeholder.

Don't worry, that's just what he does. He gets owned so much in some of his ridiculous arguments and then just tries to twist everything around as much as possible confusing the issue, pretending like he "won," which oddly enough he seems to care waaaaayyy too much about (so much so that he can't typically see the forest for the trees) and then suddenly turns into some juvenile claiming he won an argument he never won. Sometimes he'll make a good point, though... sometimes

I think assuming the bills have "their guy" and that "their guy" won't change between now and whenever "their guy" is finally decided is a bit foolish. We haven't even had the combine or free agency or interviews with draft prospects or draft prospect visits. I love the situation this team is in right now because I have so much confidence in McBeane deciding whatever they need to do that's right regarding the QB. I don't think they know so rigidly that they'll refuse to change their minds in the future. I'm sure they have someone that they really like right now, but that might change next week.

The problem with your theory of "that ship has sailed" is that McBeane will have a "fair market value" in their heads of how much they expect to give up and in return of such a trade. I agree that's what plan A almost certainly is to do exactly what you said. But if you think plan B, where Buffalo doesn't get what they feel is fair market value and so keeps Taylor for 1 more year while also drafting a QB in the 1st... I think you're being naive.
