A picture of Von Miller and D Henry
LABILLBACKER replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
If the OL is not getting fixed by spending 12M/ yr on Henry. Would the OL be any less fixed spending 2M on Bijan? I personally don't want either but at least with Robinson he cost controlled for 5 years. Eventually Beane's gotta run into some good drafted olineman? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occassionally. -
The Myth of the Bills over-focusing on defense in the Draft and FA
LABILLBACKER replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Someone explain to OP that 1st round pick has substantially more allocation points than a 6th or 7th round pick. The offensive players brought in from FA are dumpster dives. This math doesn't work. It's not just quantity, it's quality from 1st round draft picks to bottom of the barrel FA pick ups.- 89 replies

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
LABILLBACKER replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completely agree....and that Watson contract is an absolute outlier. You may see guys get up to 50M, but that percentage of guarantee is not happening anytime soon. Lamar not having an agent is also a big mistake. -
I don't care what their personal instincts are anymore. What Brady did to cover up Bill's reluctance to surround him with amazing weapons was phenomenal. Josh is a great qb. Maybe the most athletic qb to ever come to Buffalo. But as others have accurately said he is prone to the occassional brain fart. He can't absorb a HC hell bent on selecting mostly defensive people. This is where Beane has to step in and say enough. We're giving JA 60% of future assets. If you don't like that Sean then there's the door.
-
For 5 years since acquiring Josh, 60% of cap expenditure has gone to defense. If Beane & Sean want to keep their jobs for the next 5 years those numbers need to flip immediately. Or they will divide and eventually lose the locker room. You know Josh & Stefon are already pissed.

Don't like drafting for need just for need sake.
LABILLBACKER replied to gjv's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly....you don't construct a building by starting with the roof. The order of draft urgency since 2019 should've been: 1. OL 2. WR 3. TE 4. RB On top of that they don't have good enough olineman to give Josh 1.8 seconds. Beane can't possibly be this stupid, can he? -
First of all let me go on record as a 55 yr fan as agreeing with this position. Sean and Brandon have rode the good will of pulling the Bills out of the drought long enough. Process & Culture are cute mission statement words but they carry little weight if you can't advance deep in the playoffs with a generational qb. Blowing a 16-0 lead in Houston bothered me. Watching your defense get dismantled the next 2 years angered me. Then the team coming out flat and unprepared at home v Cincy was the final straw. I've compared Sean to Marty 100x and with each game he only validates that comp.
-
What do his playoff defenses historically rank? That's the real question.
-
It's unfortunate and comical that he spends such high draft picks on mediocre RB's when the irony is we really don't run that much. Wouldn't it make common sense to load up on a dominant OL if I know I have an elite throwing qb? Then after that draft wrs. I'm targeting rbs late in the draft or udfa's. Look at the production Andy got out of Pacheco.

Tomlin has 2 rings to keep secure. Who knows if clappy will ever snif one.
-
That's exactly why eventually Josh will get fed up with this organizational philosophy. If McB doesn't go hard on OL, WR, etc this April, I could see a slow divide begin. At the very least the contract controlled olineman should've been acquired in 19, 20, 21. You ask your superstar qb to do 85% of the offensive production while Abbott & Costello waste picks on defensive busts.
-
If you are right and yes there is a chance McB go defense once again @ 27, then this will send a clear "FU" message to our offensive leaders. Drafting mid tier RB's when you already know you don't have the proper run blocking olineman in place is pure stupidity. Last year was the perfect opportunity to land one of those top wrs. Even Terry has gotta see this behavior and shake his head.

https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2023/2/23/23611065/predicting-buffalo-bills-succession-problems-through-draft-capital-expenditure-research Staggering numbers in the WR, TE and OL categories. You take away the swing and miss on Ford and the OL % dips below 3. Just an indictment on what happens when your defensive HC gets in the ear of your GM.

Well of course. I wanted Frazier gone 2 years ago but realized he's sticking around until he retires because of Sean's misguided loyalty. Sean allows Leslie to continue on. That's why Sean is in the con category. I don't have much faith in Dorsey either but he can't possibly struggle as much this year as last. And again the decision to keep Ken is Sean's.

Pros ▪︎ Josh Allen ▪︎ We're not likely to experience the drama that was 2022. ▪︎ We're not likely to have as many injuries as 2022 ▪︎ We're not likely to see Dorsey & Frazier coach that poorly as in 2022. ▪︎We won't have the pressure of being SB favorites. ▪︎ Barring a complete mental breakdown, Beane can't possibly avoid drafting and acquiring tons of offensive help. Cons ▪︎ Daunting schedule ▪︎ Sean McDermott ▪︎ Challenges of restructuring for cap

We're not trading Diggs under ANY scenario. Too big a cap hit and because of age we're not getting what some would expect on a trade. He's literally our only reliable and consistent offensive weapon. After him the drop-off is big at Davis or Knox. We absolutely must land either an early round wr or FA. Then go heavy on OL.
-
And this is exactly what they should do.
-
....and nothing screams SB like dumpster dive olineman. Beane hit homeruns with Josh & Stefon. But after them it's been mostly dribblers back to the mound.
-
I want young promising wrs on rookie deals. No more re-animating Beas, Smoke or Bob.

The only ones I'm signing is: Boettger Keenum Lawson Marlow Martin Jackson
