Quote from Josh highlighting the Bills' flawed thinking...
LABILLBACKER replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unfortunately this response is more than your take. It's actually the factual truth. Reid could coach circles around McD and we're starting to see young innovative HC's like Mike McDaniels and Taylor do the same. It's pathetic to think Sean thought the difference in beating KC was to acquire Von. When in reality it was improving your OL, WR2, Running game, OC etc. -
Agree, We're not touching Dion. He's our best olineman on a incredibly mediocre OL. I'd still like to see us draft 2 olineman in the first 4 rounds and at the very minimum sign 1 good FA like Seumalo or Pocic. Spencer's feet are way to slow and he should be depth the remainder of his contract. Scrubs like Saffold, Quessenberry and Van Rotten need replacing immediately.
-
What's the point of skill positions if you're qb doesn't have time to get said ball out to skill position guy? Build your damn OL first, then one by one start grabbing the toys. I'd have no problem drafting a wr @ 27 as long as the next 2 picks are OL. Pundits and fans alike have been saying for 3 years the Bills refuse to fix the obvious.

Basement: What did comment mean
LABILLBACKER replied to Riverboat Ritchie's topic in The Stadium Wall
Personally I could care less about Colin and his herd hierarchy. He blows like the wind and constantly jumps on & off player bandwagons. His opinion doesn't matter anymore. All that matters is help for Josh. Everything else is noise. -
Bills need to hit on picks to have a chance
LABILLBACKER replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Totally agree with 1, 3, 4. As much as we all appreciate what Tremaine & Jordan have meant to this team, it's time to move on. Use that cap on critical OL/ WR resources. I'm not even close to throwing in the towel on Tre. He'll heal completely and he and Micah will give us the leadership we still need. I'd put Benford @ SS and sign Vander Esch to a cheap deal ( 2y/6M total ). Totally agree Allen, Diggs, Miller and Milano need to be at the top of cap allocations. Still not sure what to do with Ed (possible trade?). And I'll give Gabe 1 more year but he better realize he's getting wr3 target volume. -
Bills 2023 schedule 7th hardest (based off of 2022 opponents)
LABILLBACKER replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah alot of players and coaches will be shuffling around over the next few weeks. I'd love to poach Seumalo off of Phillys hands. It's absolutely critical that McB focuses hard on offense this offseason. -

Yeah I was pretty pissed. Oh well as other more level headed posters accurately said you gotta just stop, breathe and realize life is too short. Josh is going to get us one. Just gotta wait for everything to line up. -

Yeah we had no choice but to expose Hodgins. Micah, Jordan, Dane and Tre were all unavailable. We had to call up bodies. I'm personally done watching Sean draft the "all Church league"..... -

Trust me we all would prefer an easier schedule but we have no control. We need a calmer year with less drama and injuries. Playoff teams like Tampa, NYG, LAC, and Dallas don't terrify me. The bottom line is Josh needs to be able to play under less stress and duress. Beane better have an amazing off season. -

About right. The afce has to face the nfce. I think I saw 10 of our games are against playoff teams. We're not winning 13 this year. But we will be battle tested. -
You guys sure are more patient than me. I was done with Leslie somewhere between Houston and the AFCCG in Arrowhead. Long before the fun of :13......

FA and draft needs? Shoot your shot.
LABILLBACKER replied to thunderingsquid's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tell that to McFrazier, not me. I wanted to transition away from zone in 2019. -
I'm probably not moving on from Dion just yet even if he did struggle some last year. On a 27th ranked OL, he's still our best, followed by squeezing one last year out of Morse. Bates is our 3rd best olineman but only when he's at LG. This year we absolutely have to replace Saffold & Brown. How we do it should be a mix of FA & draft. Maybe somebody like Pocic can play RG for 1 season then transition to C. If we don't go WR @ 27 we sure as he'll better consider T there if someone drops. Next year we may have to consider replacing Dawkins/Bates?

Don't think "WR2" in the upcoming draft. Think WR1.
LABILLBACKER replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
All I know is I'd have my WR scouts working OT this spring. We can't afford any busts. -

LABILLBACKER replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
We need both simultaneously. Someone to Start grooming for Diggs and maybe Davis in a couple years. Get them both on rookie deals asap. I'm not saying we'll be able to get them both this April but we need at least 1 and draft the other next year. -

My hope is 3 OL & 1 WR in the first 4 rounds. What order doesn't really matter as long as we get great value. And yes very soon we're going to have to target a 1st rounder to transition into Stefon's spot. -

This April is Beane's last stand, Little Big Horn. If he doesn't nail several offensive picks, he's getting scalped. -

Reid & Veach are absolutely destroying McB in every aspect of off season decisions. And trade deadline acquisitions by KC are used and contributing immediately, while the Choir boys let their players marinate. -
Can you imagine being Allen last night?
LABILLBACKER replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall
My biggest fear. But I think Brandon finally realizes he's in a little trouble. I think we're allocating a majority of the draft and FA on offense. We're not re-signing Edmunds, Poyer or Singletary. And frankly Gabe & Ed are on thin ice. -

LABILLBACKER replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall
True, he's already been given the thumbs up for year 2. Obviously we all root for him to improve. Plenty of people including myself had issues with Daboll early. But Daboll had substantially more experience than Ken. That's why I'm very skeptical. I needed to see a little bit more clever or innovative plays and they weren't there this season. The headset meltdown didn't help either. -

....not all of them...I can recall an OC named Nathaniel Hackett who's every bit as bad now as he was years ago with us. In theory some get better with time, patience and experience. But some like Hackett & Rex don't. I'm the same age as you Shaw and have worked in various industries. Some get better and some don't. I just personally don't see Dorsey having that innovative ability to improve. The bottom line IMHO is find a dynamic OC (Ben Johnson type) to promote as your HC. So Josh isn't changing philosophies every 3 years.
