  1. If Bills can have another draft like the last two, If the Bills can use their cap space to solidify the OL, If Allen keeps progressing as he has, No one will care that they gave up Marcel, Watkins, Gilmore, Woods and Darby. How Bills got to where they are now and hopefully where they are going will make for an interesting storyline down the road. Good insight from all of you.
  2. Improve the OL, you improve the running game and give Allen more time in the pocket. Improving the running game improves the passing attack by putting more pressure on the defense. The number one priority for the Bills this off-season is to improve the OL. (Also need another starting CB).
  3. Good to see that Bills are willing to move on from their mistakes. KB and Holmes were two wasted spots on the 53 man roster. Hopefully they can bring in a couple players with potential to the practice squad.
  4. I believe that the Miami field also was a factor in the Bills loss. RBs, WRs, CBs all had their feet slip on the turf. Did not seem to bother the Dolphins though so I wonder if the shoes were not appropriate for that particular field.
  5. So, we have a chance against New England but since no one else on the Bills schedule made the playoffs last year, Bills should only get that one more win. Got it.
  6. I know it's early, but I definitely like how Allen is progressing. You can actually see he is learning on the job and improving. I am looking forward to next year with a better line protecting him and more weapons on offense around him. While I like that he has the ability to run, I hope Bills won't have to rely on that ability in the long haul. As to who will be the better QB? Who cares. I think Allen is the type of QB that Bills fans are going to love.
  7. If Bills could get Greedy at CB, a WR in round two, a guard and LB at three and four, and some other developmental players with rest of draft, then spend the extra cap space on replacement offensive linemen, and a good WR, they could be on there way. The hardest part will be to find some good WRs that could really make a difference. When I watch teams like Pittsburgh, KC, Rams, NO, with all the offensive talent they have plus very good defenses, I realize, Bills are still a long way off being contenders year in and year out. One bright spot however is Miami and Jets aren't in any better shape than Bills and Brady can't last much longer so winning the division by any of these teams might mean who can take the next step and be in position to be that next team. Why not the Bills.
  8. So Bills have a QB with strongest arm ever with WRs that can't separate and OL that can't pass block. Doesn't look like a recipe for success.
  9. What's the deal with Bills getting Bengals Backup QBs. First McCarron and now Barkley. Why didn't they just go for Dalton and at least have a starter. After all, Dalton did lead Bills to a playoffs last year. LOL. And to think, I delayed taking my yearly trek to Florida so I could see this game. At least we have the Bye week to look forward to.
  10. I would love to see 4-3 and all the experts trying to rationalize how the "least Talented Team in the NFL" is doing it. However, I don't believe the Bills match up well against Houston. Houston is good against the run, and even though their secondary is considered weak the Bills WRs are probably not going to be able to challenge them, if history is any indication, and Houston has a very good pass rush. Best case for Bills will be to win turnover battle and keep Houston off balance "if" run/pass game can get going. That is a big "if". Just as likely to be a lot of 3 and outs for Bills. It will have to be one of those ugly wins if Bills can pull it off. But hey, they beat the Vikes on the road so there is that. This is a big game that has divisional playoff implications. Would be nice to see KB and other WRs step up. Indy is another day. Go Bills.
  11. Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories, some good, some not so. It's all part of the experience.
  12. Nate (if starting) will need to be able to complete the 7 - 15 yard pass to help open up the running game, maybe a shot down the field once in a while if protection can hold up with some chip blocking by the TEs and RBs. Quick timing routes looked to be Nate's forte this preseason. Lets hope the pass can set up the run cause 8 - 9 in the box should be the base defense unless forced to respect the pass.
  13. I would expect to see a lot of pre-snap motion, play action, TEs, and RBs chipping, and anything else to slow the DL. Offense looked pretty creative in the first preseason game, then back to vanilla. I would guess Dabol will be creative in his approach this season. My concern, other than the current state of the offensive line, is that Peterman and Allen have completely different skill sets and would require a diferent offensive game plan. But, then again, Dabol did it in Alabama championship game, so there is that. Interestingly, this whole season might come down to how effective Dabol can be with this offense.
  14. With kerley, Benjamin, and Jones most likely being the 3 starting WRs, I would think Peterman would be a good fit considering he is fairly accurate and gets the ball out quickly. None of these three are going to separate based on speed so it will be up to Dabol to game plan to get these guys open on quick crossing routes with play action, etc. Just get the ball in their hands and have them make a play.
  15. If he learns how to track the ball and doesn't quit on his routes, he could be good. Skill set (speed) might make for a good complimentary receiver to Allens long ball. At least the Bills have some speed on receiving crew.
  16. Coleman is the wild card here. Bills have to decide if he has made suitable progress in learning the play book in the last three weeks to warrant a spot. Hasn't done anything of note in the preseason games but it must be difficult to be trying to learn the Dabols' offense and at the same time running vanilla offense for preseason games. All depends on how he is progressing in the practices no longer open to the public. Bills do need a speed guy and might keep him til the waiver wire gives them a better prospect. I have not seen any separation when he is out there but that might be a scheme thing in preseason. They sure weren't shy about giving Foster opportunities though and he has shown the ability to get open.
  17. I find it incredulous on your part that you don't believe Beane and McDermott scour this forum hourly for hidden gems of information. AJ's future with the Bills probably rests with the comments on this and other AJ forum topics. I would not be surprised if the original poster for this topic was not really Beane trying to gauge fan interest in trading AJ, Shaq, and a first rounder for Mack. I'm sure Gruden is also reading this forum. Maybe he is the original author.
  18. I wonder if he was out there just because he missed so much time during training camp that they just wanted to give him the opportunity to run basic routes against competition. He really hasn't done much in preseason games though. I just hope he starts showing up once the new offense is in place. My surprise cut might be Coleman. Doesn't matter how fast you are if you can't grasp the offense. That being said, none of the WRs have done much to warrant being considered on any other team in the NFL other than the Bills.
  19. Would not be surprised to see the Bills keep 3 QBs, at least to start the season. It's not like the Bills are overloaded with talent across the lineup to justify having 2 QBs. If, during the season, Bills have the opportunity to make a roster move to increase talent level, one of the two (AJ or NP) could be released. We don't know how much the injury might still be affecting AJ and running a basic offense with some marginal players might have played in his performance. He does hold onto the ball too long (Sacked), it was a very poor choice to throw the pick 6, and I didn't believe he was all that accurate in the game. Still, the coaches have a lot more material for evaluation than we casual fans, so it should be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Finally, even though it was a meaningless preseason game last night, I wanted to see some of these players get one more chance to show what they could do. AJ and Ray Ray showed some positive things.
  20. Since our defense has been less than inspiring, I wonder if some of the offensive woes the Bills are experiencing are due to going up against this defense during training camp. They may have thought this defense was better than it appears to be, and that the offense therefore isn't as good as it might have appeared to be in training camp.
