  1. Transition tag... that is an intriguing option. Though some say it may not work (wikipedia): "The transition tag is rarely used by NFL franchises. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the one-year transition offer is typically a large amount, which could provide the club with difficulties while attempting to keep the team's aggregate salaries under the salary cap. The other is that players often react badly to receiving the tag, because it limits their ability to negotiate with other teams and therefore hinders their chances of receiving the largest possible contract. Players sometimes counter the tag by holding out or refusing to play for the club, creating distractions and headaches for the club."
  2. There will be no holdout, Cook wants to be seen by future suitors as a team player. He will play his nuts off and do great things this season because it's a contract year. When the 2025 season is over, some team will offer Cook $13 million/yr. and away he goes. At least we got a few good seasons out of him.
  3. I think Benford loses some dollar value on the open market due to his history of concussion. I'm not saying there won't be interest in him, just saying he will draw less money than he would have otherwise. Once concussed, you're likely to get concussion again. Look at Mitch Morse who was a frequent flyer on the concussion protocol.
  4. Exactly. I'd rather buy a handful of scratchers than one Mega-Millions. Besides, you have to be an Uber driver from California to win the Mega-Millions. Beane is an above average GM when selecting talent after the first round, let's pick more there. Late round picks also have good long term implications for the salary cap.
  5. Yes. The Normal Distribution Curve applies. Most players are dreadfully average, they are in the meat of the curve.
  6. Fans: We should get a generational player. Same Fans: Beane sucks at first round picks.
  7. AND... it usually entails a major market team (like the Jets, Giants, Redskins, Cowboys etc.) because there is a lot of clicks generated by teasing those fan bases.
  8. Cosell is a walking encyclopedia of player knowledge. He has a lot facts jammed into that cranium.
  9. But six games? I thought this type of conduct got you 4 games.
  10. Maddie was meh as a commentator, but then her stock went up in my book after she spoke the truth about Diggs. She's alright to me. PS: she shouldn't have apologized.
  11. I know Hollins wasn't a prolific producer. My memory may be rose tinted, but I remember about one big play a game from him. What facts do we know about what Beane offered him? Maybe Beane didn't offer anything at all. In my guesstimation, Beane offered Hollins a one year contract and Hollins opted for the two years he was offered by NE. FWIW, this is what he got from NE: 2025: Base salary: $2,000,000 Signing bonus: $750,000 Roster bonus: $850,000 Workout bonus: $150,000 Incentives: $1,000,000 Salary cap hit: $3,750,000 2026: Base salary: $2,900,000 Signing bonus: $750,000 Roster bonus: $850,000 Workout bonus: $150,000 Incentives: $1,000,000 Salary cap hit: $4,650,000
  12. But but... a poster in the Joey Bosa thread tells us: "Beane can't scout or draft, so he resorts to desperate FA signings" LOL, perpetually negative fans add spice to this board.
  13. Pittsburgh didn't open up the wallet for him? I guess there is no sentimentality for the hometown boy.
  14. Joey Bosa = 29 years old Von Miller = 35 years old The age comparisons are a false argument.
  15. Maybe this signing will appease those fans in the "we need a weapon" club. Is he a weapon?
  16. I know, it is saddening. This season may end up being the mini-rebuild that was supposed to happen last season. That would suck.
  17. Concur. In lieu of big spending on an FA, I hope the draft for pass rushers provides us a gem, that's about the only option left.
  18. There are 31 other teams chasing elite talent like Garrett. And most of them have more money to throw at it. It's a bit arrogant or delusional to think that the Bills are always in the Top-5 to sign someone.
  19. The new contract is already in Wikipedia. Dang... that took minutes.
  20. Absolutely. Tank years are a legit strategy. Especially if you time it to hit a draft strong in QBs.
  21. If the salary cap were as imaginary as some posters here make it out to be, New Orleans would be tremendously relieved. As it is, the Saints are in salary cap hell, stuck with mediocre but expensive players and no relief coming anytime soon. Sure, the salary cap is an illusion. /s
  22. Blog post title I read today: 500M Europeans Are Begging 300M Americans for Protection from 140M Russians Who Have Been Unable to Overcome 50M Ukrainians for Three Years That about sums it up, Europeans are leaches and Russia is inept.
  23. I thought Von was slated to be a June 1st cut, for some reason.
