  1. in the AFL from 1961-1969, the all-star game was east vs. west, except in 1965, when the game was league champion Bills vs. the rest of the leagues all-stars. Bills lost 30-19. From what I remember, Sid Gillman, coach of the all stars just kept rotating his group of all star receivers and had them running continuous fly routes against the Bills secondary. Bills secondary quickly wore down
  2. 1960- at the Rockpile. Don't remember who we played, or who won. James Sullivan, the father of a good friend from school (we were 10) was the team physician and he took both of us. A fan ever since.
  3. Jan. 1, 1967, Bills played K.C. in AFL championship game, winner went on to play Green Bay in first super bowl. Hopefully, same scenario, different outcomes
  4. I've been following the Bills since Richie Lucas was the QB. I loved the 60's and 90's Bills. Stats , rules changes , eras don't matter. Allen is a better QB than Kelly. Similar competitiveness, better arm, better mobility, better leadership, better head. I don't know what the future holds, but today, not close.
  5. This year following week 16, home teams had won 120 games, lost 119, and tied one. https://www.covers.com/sport/football/nfl/league-trends/seasontodate There is literally NO home field advantage! I would love to see the Bills win on Sunday to wrap up second seed, but in reality, that accomplishes nothing. Resting and protecting as many of your players as possible does accomplish something. Bills are not getting a bye no matter what, they should at least turn a regular season game into a meaningless pre-season game. It's called delayed gratification.
  6. In my fandom, Rex would be Vince Lombardi compared to Buster Ramsey, Kay Stephenson, Hank Bullough. I could go on, but I guess I'm just showing my age, and the fact that Ralph would generally not pay coaches.
  7. perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. Do you mean that these schools would not be able to fund english departments without football revenue? what about all the fine division 3 schools that seem to have english departments without football revenue? What about SUNYAB?
  8. Isn't our country so wonderful as to allow freedom of expression as stupid as this Isn't our country wonderful as to allow freedom of expression as moronic as this
  9. I went to my first bills game as a kid in their first season. I went to games as a young teenager in the AFL championship years. I went to games with my wife in our early years together. Went to games with my kids in the super bowl years and the first decade of the 2000's. I now take grandchildren to occasional games. And while I will always be a Bills fan, the in-stadium experience of seeing them consistently gets worse and worse. Go Bills!
  10. There's the expression usually referring to basketball, "you can't teach height". I have a real question, not rhetorical, can you fix stupid? I really don't know. You can teach an ignorant person, but can you change a stupid one? I'm not saying that what Oliver did was horrible, I'm saying it's stupid, given his financial situation, his very public status, his future. How hard is it to not drive with an open container? How hard is it to not have a handgun that might be illegal? Is it really that difficult for a player to not put himself in a position where he might get suspended by the league? Real question-is he stupid, and if so can that be fixed?
  11. Home opener 1969 was against the Jets, who had won the super bowl the previous january. When the Jets were introduced prior to the kickoff, I remember them getting a standing ovation from the Bills crowd, for being the first AFL team to beat the hated NFL. That was when the 2 leagues were still separate, and only shared the draft and the super bowl. That stadium had 'character'
  12. we had season tickets to the Braves in the oranges after a Braves playoff game (I believe against the celtics-pretty sure we lost) the aud let people sleep overnight in the corridors to get standing room only sabre playoff tickets for the next days game (I think against Montreal-overtime win) times have really changed in so many ways
  13. Hi, Mr. smarty pants here- Meatloaf, this is a serious virus that will ultimately kill thousands if not millions of people. It will kill intelligent as well as ignorant people. Misinformation, ignorance and rumors will add to the death toll. Please know that chloroquine is well known to the medical community, ANY evidence of efficacy is anecdotal at best, and there are reports of chloroquine overdosing causing people to be hospitalized. The mark of an intelligent person is they try to know when they are out of their depth. The mark of unintelligent person is they think they know what they are talking about when they have no clue. The mark of an idiot is that they listen to the latter. Please, stay healthy
  14. thanks, now could you please let the Italian government in on your info, where over 5400 people have died from the virus, out of about 59,000 cases.
  15. I'm an old person, and would be thrilled if only old people died from this virus. Unfortunately, young healthy people have died, and are dying from this virus
  16. Meatloaf, I'm thrilled to hear that there is a cheap generic drug that I can take so I don't have to worry about dying. What is it's name? Do you think I can order it on Amazon? Do you think cynicism and sarcasm will minimize its efficacy?
  17. There will be no 2020 NFL season. If things go very well, in regards to vaccine development, NFL a year from now is at best, a possibility. Unfortunately, no matter how much a fan of the Bills you are, (and I have followed them since they first drafted Richie Lucas), no 2020 NFL football is the least of our problems. Stay away from others when you can, don't worry about paying rent or mortgages, (courts will not be functioning for quite sometime, whether the government puts a hold on evictions or not), hope that the government can make sure that people don't go hungry, and most of us will get through this.
  18. If that's the case, it would seem nuts to sign a high price vet at the position, no matter how good he's been in the past. Besides the price and the culture fit, you have no idea what future production will be beyond an estimate based on past production. It would seem this is where you go to the draft to supplement Singletary.
  19. I've seen in numerous threads that transition from college to nfl is difficult for WR. To those who have some degree of knowledge, how tough is it for running backs?
  20. I probably agree, but when looking at the culture McBeane is trying to build, sitting these guys out says to the rest of the team, (and especially the rest of the starters), "these guys are more important than you" They are, but do you want to announce it to the world? I realize you're talking depth, but I think the optics are bad.
