  1. Wild cards come down to tie breakers all the time. 2017 playoff drought was snapped on tie breakers. We are currently the 3 seed in the conference because of tie breakers.
  2. I think Knox can do it hes just inconsistent at recognizing the edge player. So yeah I don’t hold a ton of hope for it. I have honestly had Kroft as TE1 for most the season. I do think 12 personnel with both of them is pretty good. Just make sure that Knox has to identify a LB to block. in one of the videos I think Eric says we run like 70% of the time we do jet motion
  3. So I reread and I definitely agree that we dont have any All Pros/Stars on the line, and you def said in your first line that we brought in a lot which does acknowledge how Beanes has kept us stocked. I will disagree on Morse a smidge. There was at least one more center in FA that year (former denver center; I think named Dice..?), but you are right at that time we did not have a viable center on the team. However imo, Morse has been tremendous for us with the exception of missing some time this year. Back to cover 1, there was a really cool video early in the season of his play that really showed his ability to really clean up in pass pro. Overall I think Beane would get a B+ from me on his line rebuild. They started from garbage if you accept that they had to eat their medicine in 2018. That 2019 FA class was pretty impressive and I give him a good grade for Morse. This year I think he gets another good grade cause of Daryl Williams (Winters is what you would expect for a back up). I am still unclear on his ability to draft considering Ford has yet to be a big contributor (I thought improvement on last year could be great) but he hasnt really taken many more shots. The other negative on him would be losing Wyatt Teller, but considering the haul in 2019 Im willing to give it a pass. I used to think like you did about prioritizing the OL but I'm not sure where I'm at now. I definitely wanna protect Josh but good god Diggs has been so much fun. RB is a position where we have a type (TE is another position like that) and were not setting them up as well as we did last year with outside runs. Good conversation btw.
  4. @Hapless Bills Fan thanks for posting the cover 1 stuff cause thats where I went for this stuff. Some other notes, defenses are inserting a defender post snap so while we are getting a lot of 6 man boxes, they bring an edge defender from outside the box (slot cb blitz). Solution here would be to use RPO (heard we have run them less this year) and hit a bubble screen or a WR in the curl/hook zone. We are tipping our hand with jet motion as we run the ball like 70% when we use it. Hoping this is a "scout thyself" moment that we have been good at, and we can hit a couple big pass plays off this to loosen that up again. We are running better to the left than the right. Not sure what that is exactly other than Williams is much better at pass pro and winters has been getting beat a lot. Kroft has continued to be a great blocker (underappreciated for this last year) and Knox is inconsistent in being able to identify the force player on the edge. Lastly I think they could (and likely are saving for playoffs again) have Allen run more. Try accounting for him during a run play with 10 personnel and only 6 in the box. Those are my general thoughts. Mostly learned over at @Cover 1 (seriously who does live play breakdowns from the broadcast view). 2 2nd round picks (I guess 1 was McDermott) and Morse was made highest paid center. I don't think hes neglected it (I know this is not exactly what you said), and moreover I think hes done a superb job at getting depth through FA. If I was gonna nitpick (probably earlier in the season and less so now) it would be at DL where we are spending more than anyone else in the league.
  5. Im still a bit scarred about how they plan to defend Keenan Allen in the middle of the field. Klien or a DE in the hook to curl zone scares me. I am sorta hoping this is a game Marlowe/Neal get a few extra snaps (especially 3rd and medium since I dont think the Chargers play with tempo yet).
  6. To me lite is sorta the reason I like the playing them. Its the playoffs so all teams are good. Its not that I'm scared of a particular style I just think the Titans are much better team (we should find out later this season). I can come around on the Ravens but I really think they are underachieving and if they get a shot at the dance they are gonna come out hungry because of last year and this year.
  7. Any thought on if Darnold finds a home in the NFC and turns it around? That would balance it out better. Sure the bears would love to have him.
  8. My ranking would be Browns Dolphins Raiders Colts Titans Ravens Good teams are gonna miss the playoffs. Hoping Steelers slide to the 2 seed (or even 3 behind us) which should be a fun divisional round.
  9. @Cover 1 has a good video on Keenan Allen match up
  10. Still on the IR for another week. So will not be playing this game.
  11. Titans colts this week is pretty important to seeding. A colts win gives us a good shot at the 3 seed.
  12. I always like the @Cover 1 guys. This was a pretty interesting video on the defensive fronts. I suspect we see similar this week. Those calling for Edmunds as an OLB might like this as a compromise.
  13. Thanks didn’t realize this. Considering McKenzie won the throwing competition last year maybe he did pass the rock 🤪. Maybe they got into a back and forth cause of his experience which is where the throwing competition came from.
  14. I think they are very different offenses. Ravens play option with multiple TEs. Cards spread you out with WR and play air raid.
  15. Definitely and its certainly a tip of the cap to Murray since we need to players to imitate him.
  16. Someone said it up thread. But you let Mckenzie scramble and then barkley through from somewhere else. Its not a mckenzie or barkley in. Mckenzie always takes teh shotgun snap and then let Barkley rip. Its probably a bit weird but I think it would be pretty effective.
  17. Interesting. Back to collapse the pocket with 4 to get pressure. I think that makes sense but he could have a lot time back there to diagnose zones. Keeping him contained is def important as his vision will also be obstructed.
  18. I was taking it as a general replacement of pieces comment which I can agree with.
  19. Danger Russ and Kirk Cousins (not nearly as many attempts for him though) also have an interesting blend of High On Target and High Air Yards
  20. I have also thought the lack of holding had an larger effect on us than the rest of the league since we never seemed to win with outright 1 on 1 wins so much as collapsing the pocket. Giving a QB anextra 0.5-1 seconds (i have no data on how much longer QBs have now) would really challenge any defense. Bringing an extra guy or doing a creeper pressure would seem necessary to take away that extra time.
  21. I agree thats the most exciting part. This game didnt move the needle much with regards to winning the division but it really showed what we can do when we find our identity. Cautiously optimistic that we have found an identity on defense...
  22. We should know tomorrow with the injury report. I thinking he couldve gone back in but they held him out.
  23. Great point. I was expecting him to have more of a role this year, and have sorta forgotten about him. Maybe if they are settling into a more blitzing/aggressive defense they will use him more.
  24. Think this is the game plan again. Hoping Hyde and Poyer are disguising coverages against him like they did against Wilson.
