  1. True but hating the Patriots also did help ??
  2. Don't mean to be rude but what exactly are you saying. Are you saying Elway is a good GM or not? IMHO I'm clearly in the "yes" camp on this one. Anyone who builds a team that lifts the trophy clearly qualifies as a top tier GM. I'd say that the fact that your reputation comes down to the coach and QBs (the roster really) you select just makes sense. Isn't that the definition of the GM's role.
  3. I think it means that he doesn't slip on rubber mats. This is something GMs look for in a starting QB ?
  4. They want to win so they'll do what they have to do. I think it's more a question of how long the Steeler organization puts up with it.
  5. Yes I agree Sal C believes that. ? Honestly I couldn't care less what Sal C thinks or what power rankings before week 1 say. I guarantee none of them had the Jags almost beating the Patriots in last years AFC Championship game.
  6. Ha ha, I love it. Let's disguise our protections by not protecting our QBs!!
  7. Plus did you know he went to Harvard
  8. I'm pretty sure the conversation will go like this. "You paid how much for that #$#@ thing?" ?
  9. 5th round pick with 5 picks in a single half.. See what I did there?
  10. Hate to disagree with you but this guy may be untouchable ? https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-53-man-roster-cutdown-8_31_18
  11. If at any time this season I'm getting pessimistic about the future I'm just going to go watch this clip below. There's a plan and there's plenty of evidence that it's working. Did anyone really thing that AJ really was a part of that plan?
  12. My only problem with this is where the ball goes ?
  13. No last time he played in London he sucked and cost us the game.
  14. If you are here to lay out facts and give rational responses then you've come to the wrong place. This is the place where keyboard GMs come to propose trading multiple first round picks for Mack or paying Dez Bryant when we've got over $50M is dead cap to get off the books. ? It'll be a bumpy year but a necessary one. We've got the drought behind us, a hell of a QB rookie to develop, a ton of $$$ to spend next year as well as great draft picks. I'd say the mess is being cleaned up and problems are being solved.
  15. Totally agree. You have to cut a guy if you can replace him with a better player. If the GM doesn't have the stones for that then it's time to get a new GM who does. I was commenting on how tough a life it is for the borderline guys. I didn't see that coming. I'm pretty sure that dude played on our OL for most of the Bengals game. ?
  16. I'm not sure if I've ever disagreed and agreed with a single post so strongly before. ? First the disagreement. You have to admit Peterman did learn a lot during his year on the bench watching Tyrod play (I know he's not a 2nd year QB) Now the agreement. Keeping QBs on a short leash is the worst thing you can do for their development. It reminds me of when Kurt Warner was with the Giants and the added Eli. When the benched Kurt and then wanted to yank Eli because he struggled. Kurt went ape$#!+ because of the damage that does to young QBs. You've got to let them play through the struggles.
  17. I wouldn't use the college system as the standard. It all depends when you lose that one or two games. Lose it at the start of the season and your fine, lose it towards the end and you're hosed. Also having 18 regular season games is just crazy talk. That would mean that a wild card team that makes it to the Super Bowl would play 21 games (that if we still give them a bye week). For me that's a little much. I'm not sure that Shady or Kyle could hold up to that level of physical toll. I dunno, but that's a lot to ask. I don't want the Super Bowl being like playing fantasy football in week 17 when all your started aren't playing ?
  18. College doesn't have a draft or free agency. Honestly teams like Alabama, Florida etc. can attract the players they want that fit their system. The pro game is just way more complex due to salary caps etc. It's harder to build a roster with depth without seeing what they do with the pads on. Sometimes an unknown player needs preseason to launch a HOF career.
  19. I have to imagine it's worse to make the cut, survive the deadline, only to be released the next day because they preferred someone else who was with another team. It's brutal for those guys on the bubble.
  20. As Rex would say, "He's won the offseason"
  21. Good question. I'm not sure that there's ever been a white collar crime case in the NFL like this one. Normally it's just run of the mill domestic violence, sexual assault, PEDs, or ball deflation ?
