  1. Has this team suffered at all by trying Croom instead? How many more games would they have won with O’Leary’s 7 catches? The back of roster JAGs are 100% replaceable. As soon as you realize a guy is no better or worse than street FAs, it’s time to try someone new. Whether it works or not you are no worse off. You should NEVER pay for a guy that can be replaced by an UDFA. That’s a poor business decision and typical of the Dolphins. I hope that he hauls in another 1/2 catch a game for them next year for $1.5M.
  2. A guy actually lost to the girl last year. He didn’t do so well on Twitter after.
  3. He has 7 more catches and 77 more yards than I do this season. At best, he’s a 3rd TE on a bad team. There’s no reason to ever protect a guy like that. Take a shot on a different fringe guy and hope that he’s better.
  4. I guess the point is that neither of them are NFL Tight Ends. You should keep swinging but don’t ever settle for the 3rd TE on one of the worst teams in the league. Hold yourself to a higher standard. Do better.
  5. We disagree. I have it at 20. We will never know but certainly we can’t say something will “definitely” happen. They will never play. We all have our opinions by no one is right or wrong.
  6. So many people that haven’t even seen them play until today!! It’s tough to have a strong opinion without ever actually watching. Whatever though, I think that the points have been made in both sides. I think it’s 20, some that I respect (like Thurm) think it’s 40. We will never know. All that we know is a professional thinks it’s 28.5.
  7. So Alabama beat, arguably, the 2nd best team in the country with their backup QB and we are trashing them?
  8. He was 9-7 with trash talent in year one. If he picked Brees instead of Culpepper he’d still be coaching.
  9. He has 7 catches for 77 yards on the season. We haven’t exactly been punished by the decision. I won’t lose a wink of sleep letting a bad player go for a different bad player. I give them credit for trying to upgrade. They should keep trying this offseason.
  10. It’s the weirdest thing. You’d think by dumb luck you’d fall into a guy that became good. The odds of SOMEONE being good have to take over at some point. That’s kind of why people are debating the merits of O’Leary vs. Thomas. The answer is none of the above. We have such a low bar. I’m hoping that TE is addressed this offseason. Tyler Eiffert is NEVER healthy but is a good “buy low” candidate imo. It’s worth a shot.
  11. Naw, he’s over at Ryan Neufeld’s.
  12. He’s watching games at Derek Fine’s house with Tim Euhus and Dorin Dickerson.
  13. I’d be happy to tell him how average he was. The same goes for Riemersma. The last “good” Bills TE was Ernie Warlick and he hasn’t played for the Bills in over 50 years!!
  14. I can’t believe how people have positive things to say about any of these TEs. They ALL stink. Clay was fine before all of the injuries but other than that we’ve never had decent TE play (forget about good). O’Leary, Thomas, Croom, Lee, Lee Smith, Chandler, etc... are all bums.
  15. That’s even worse!! We steal the 76ers thing, change a word and pretend we own it?!? C’mon!!
  16. Meh, none of them are any good. I don’t fault the Bills for trying something else. TE is forever a need on this team. I’m glad that they don’t settle on bottom of the league production as acceptable.
  17. ...and shut it down and suspend the OP forever
  18. I thought McDermott started that?!?

  20. Ed Oliver declares as well (not playing in the bowl game).
  21. Agree on Thurm, he’s brought WAY more substance than most others.
  22. I’m devastated to report that I caught another one overnight!! The exterminator will be coming today and I am also looking at a new house at 10 AM CST (seriously).
  23. The 2012 team has nothing to do with this group. The conversation and spread from Vegas was about THIS Alabama team. I’m not sure why anyone inserts any other program into the conversation? We are all aware that this Alabama team is an outlier. This is a culmination of a lot of hits AND an elite QB. They are different from their predecessors. It’s also a conservative estimate based on the most recent recruiting cycles. You are looking at ages and not pedigree. Jerry Jeudy is a true sophomore and arguably the best receiver in the country. I was just responding to your point on nutrition, “Bama guys are mostly on meal plans and studying while NFL players are eating at the facility Andy focusing on nothing but football.” I guess the point here is if you think an Alabama Football player has ANYTHING to worry about but Alabama Football, we disagree. It is certainly different at other programs. Yes, Alabama has a respectable graduation rate but 100% of their football needs come before anything else. If there were ever an academic issue that jeopardized the football program, someone would step in and make it go away. When you couple that with the lack of family, media and marketing commitments that pros have the “free time” isn’t that different. Football is all that matters in that state AND to the donors. That’s an underrated part of this. The donors hold the school hostage if they don’t like the direction of the football team. As a quick anecdotal side story I have a good friend that works in the athletic department at Auburn. The largest donor at Auburn has a $172M (think is the number) gift to Auburn. It is contingent on $38M of it being used to buy out Gus Malzahn. If Malzahn isn’t bought out this year, Auburn won’t get any of it. We are certainly in agreement about the age. It sounds like we are also reaching an agreement that the biggest challenge for Alabama will be the complexities. The mental side is the largest gap between pros and even Alabama. We just differ on how much the physical skills would offset it. It’s no problem though. This conversation has been interesting because 2 people can see the same things differently. It’s been an interesting conversation.
  24. This pretty much sums up where I stand. Allen was never my top choice. I recognized his talent but the downside scared me quite a bit. He is ahead of where I thought he’d be and there are moments of brilliance. He always had a chance to be special. It is just a little more likely than I thought.
