It’s early. This is the best time to face and overcome adversity. These are the fires that forge men into steel for a playoff run. I’d prefer the 1 seed, but don’t care as long as we are in the playoffs. I’d rather this team peak later than earlier, and if that means a few weeks of TBD Mental Breakdown, so be it. This team was over-hyped all summer. We’ve got issue like any other team and now the injury bug. Talk to me in November and I’ll tell you if I’m at all concerned.

I don’t think Bills fans would be as willing to go along with obvious medical negligence on our star player as much as Miami fans were willing to overlook it in order to win their SuperBowl against us and justify all the hype that was being piled on the team. We are a much more skeptical fan base, look at how we second guess McD every day and he’s one of the best coaches we’ve ever had. I’m a doc. You don’t have to be a doc to know that Tua suffered a head injury against the Bills. 99% of people watching that hit, watching him stumble, reach for his head (not his back) and shake his head just know intuitively that’s a head injury. It’s not rocket science. Our ability to detect brain injuries by physical/cognitive exam is very limited at best. Sometimes as docs we need to use our gut to do best by the patient. Put it this way, if Tua was my patient for surgery and that happened in the parking lot, I don’t care what the neurologist tells me about his cognitive function there is ZERO percent chance I’m putting him to sleep and I’d have the nuts to tell both the surgeon and patient that he’s cancelled. He should have been cancelled Sunday, he should have been placed in the concussion protocol which would have precluded him from playing Thursday. That fact that he wasn’t was negligent in my opinion - from the independent neurologist to the Miami coach who absolutely KNEW Tua had a head bonk but hid behind the “The doctors said he was fine” excuse instead of protecting his player. I don’t think McD puts Allen back in the game if that happened to him.

Coaching wasn’t the issue. Lack of execution on the offense was. Yeah, we had the one bad 3-22 play call, so what? The reality is that the coaches put the players in a position to win this game 5-6 times and the offense/ST failed to execute every single time. Make one of those plays and we win the game.

Hi didn’t even hit his head hard on this hit. That’s his second concussion in 4 days. He’s screwed. This is on the NFL and the team doctors. He should NEVER have been back in the game last week and never should have been cleared for this one. This is absolutely disgusting.

I am not impressed with Burrow, he’s made numerous horrible passes. Tua has better accuracy. Joe throws off his back foot too much, his mechanics suck. It’s like he has been reading his own press clippings all year and is going to complete passes just because he’s Joe Burrow.

Anyone blaming the coaches in this L is friggin nutty. Yeah, you’d like to have a couple calls back in retrospect BUT - if the players executed just one of numerous plays that were there to be made, we win. This loss is on the players and the lack of execution. Yes, the coaching could be better but al the points we left on the field were not the result of coaching decisions.

The lack of a competent running game is the single most important issue to fix. Even we can’t be one dimensional and go far in the playoffs

This is one of the stupidest posts I’ve read in a while. McD was right not to challenge the Gabe drop. Gabe needs to hang on to the ball. McKenzie tried to get outside and couldn’t make it, sucks but in retrospect he should have driven upfield sooner and given himself up. Always easy in retrospect. Not sure how that’s McD’s issue on a broken play. 13 second was a debacle agreed, but it was last year. The 3rd and 22 was Fraziers call. My god we are playing 4 new DBs and at one point an UDFA at CB. Waddle and Hill should have been lighting us up and they didn’t. They gave up a bad play at the wrong time. Happens. No I’m sorry but Josh single handedly kept this game close. Yeah, he had a few bad passes especially the miss to McKenzie but the guy was a friggin warrior and did everything remotely possible to win this game. If he gets any kind of help from the O or special teams it’s a W. And I have no problem with Allen ripping Wilkins helmet off after Wilkins grabbed him in the junk and dragged him down. The Dolphins were friggin dirty, multiple times and the refs let them do it. I didn’t see anything concerning about Allen’s play I mean my god he had 400 yards passing and 47 rushing what more do you want? He can’t play flawless football, his guys have to step up like he did and make a friggin play.

Honest question, what specifically about the coaching did you think was in error? What game day decisions led to the loss? The loss sucks but doesn’t really bother me too much. My biggest concern is the complete lack of running game. 2nd and goal from the 2 should be an automatic TD. Having Josh in the shotgun is f’in stupid down there. Even though the 4th down play was there, you shouldn’t need to pass. If we don’t develop some semblance of a running game this team is not going all the way, period.

I love that Miami is getting so over hyped and the fans are SO obnoxious. My Miami hatred has waned over the years, I was a kid through the 70s so didn’t feel that pain as much as some and then the Pats* dominated us for so long so my hatred vault is mostly full of Pats*. But now, now I feel that old Miami hatred starting to perk up. I don’t have anything against Tua, it’s more the Miami hype and the fans. I would love nothing more than for us to win, preferably dominating but even a 1 point victory will crush those posers and have them questioning if they can ever beat us.

Have a good long talk with the neurosurgeon (spine). You made the right call on deferring the lumbar fusion. Those are a complete crap shoot on whether you’ll get relief or not. Cervical fusions have a much higher success rate in terms of symptomatic relief but depends on the pathology involved.

While this is a nice summary of spinal stenosis, multiple sites including sports illustrated, ESPN, and CBS sports have reported the injury is a herniated disk. As such, the prognosis is much better than severe spinal stenosis with multiple levels involved. If he only needs a 1 level ACDF he could absolutely return to play, although at 32 he may decide it’s not worth the increased risk.

All signs point to this being the end of Hyde in Buffalo. He’ll likely have a cervical fusion with removal of the offending disk. This is a very common surgery with great results in the right hands, and I have no doubt he’ll have the best spine surgeon working on him. Could he play again? Probaby. But, he may not want to. He’s 32, his risk of serious injury goes up after neck surgery. It will be an interesting conversation with him and Beane if he does decide he wants to play again. This is the evolution of a football team. We all knew Hyde and Poyer were short timers. It absolutely sucks it happened this year, but if it had to happen at least it’s in the beginning of the season. I think Johnson is ready. He was ready last year. Now he’s got the perfect opportunity to lock up a long term safety spot on our team after being the in the system for 4 years. We will know real quick whether he has it or not. If he does have it, Poyer or Hyde are gone next year. I’d love to get one of them back for one more year while we make another succession plan.

Seems to me this puts more pressure on the Fins. The amount of hype they are getting over one good Tua quarter has even FilthyBeast and Gene saying "Woah slow down that's a lot of Miami hype". Imagine the verbal beat down we will unleash on Finheaven if they can't even beat us with 3/4 of our starting secondary out. Can't wait!

I think Dane dodged a bullet. He never lost any movement in the extremities and he was discharged the next day. If he had any symptoms at all of a cord injury he’d be admitted, monitored, and probably on IV steroids. What this tells me is that it’s all muscular. That can heal in a week, it can heal in a few weeks. I bet he skips Miami and is ready for the next game. Would be nice to know if he’s walking around in a neck brace. If not, he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

No way to know until the X-rays come back. Hopefully just a bruise and a couple weeks off. The fact that he was moving on the field and in the ambulance is a very positive sign. This could be a minor injury as bad as it looked. Hoping for the best
