  1. Because in every other thread discussing this game people are calling it a trap game. This thread needs to be started at least once per season.
  2. Not saying I disagree with you but Edmunds was plenty physical on the goal line vs. SF last week. And yes, the Bills matched the Steelers' physicality Sunday night. Nobody said they did it by "a large margin" -- the fact is that Buffalo squads of the past 20 years have rarely risen to the occasion when facing "physical" opponents but this season they are doing it.
  3. The proof comes from looking at the winning percentages of "good" teams vs. "bad" teams either the week before (trap game) or week after (letdown game) they play another "good" team. It's easily verifiable. There's no statistically significant difference. Sometimes bad teams beat good teams, and there is no statistical proof it's because the good team "overlooked" them.
  4. You're sort of proving my point. Betting lines are based upon perception, not reality, and if people "think" there are trap games they bet accordingly. In the NFL even the bad teams are loaded with talent. It truly is an "any given Sunday" league. These guys know if they aren't ready to play they'll get embarrassed. It's a fact. Sure, they may look at the W-L records and think "we should win this game" but they wouldn't be playing in the NFL if they allowed that to impact the effort they put forth. By the way, put me in contact with your friend!
  5. It seems we have to address this every season, but there is NO data to back up the trap game or letdown game myth. Bottom line — there is no evidence that good teams beat bad teams at a higher or lower rate when they play a good team the week before or the week after that game. This is an old article but it tells the story. Stop the madness.
  6. I commented to my friends in a text thread during the game that something I was most proud of was how the Bills were matching the Steelers’ physicality — something we have rarely seen out of our team over the past 20 years. It’s exciting.
  7. The Saints didn’t have a letdown, they have Taysom Hill playing QB. “Trap” games don’t exist. It has been proven over and over and over again.
  8. Oh, come on, brother, you’re better than this! No. Such. Thing.
  9. I can’t believe we are engaged in a thread about how to play Denver on the road. This has been done, folks. For a very long time. Yes, they have an advantage because they are used to the elevation but this is nothing novel and for a guy as focused on preparation as McD what exactly are we worried about?
  10. Im sure you make a lot of friends with your condescending know-it-all behavior, “bro” — grow up.
  11. This is pretty spot on. Lamar is a "winning" QB but he's not a great passing QB, and to reach the ultimate prize (SB) you have to get through at least one or two defenses who will be able to slow that running game down.
  12. System QB? ROFLMAO. Yeah, except the "system" requires athletic abilities only a handful of professional QBs possess.
  13. My logic is simple -- the Bills don't need any players on offense to take them over the top. The defense could use help primarily at 2nd CB or edge rusher. If you think Schobel was trash/overrated then I don't have very much respect for your football-related cognitive abilities. A player of his caliber on this defense would "eat."
  14. Yes, come to think of it, a second shutdown corner opposite Tre would make this defense scary.
  15. LOL at folks saying Fred Jackson. The piece this team needs to make them truly elite is a stud edge rusher opposite Hughes. Mario Williams or Aaron Schobel are the easy choices from drought-era Bills’ rosters IMO.
  16. Fixed. It's all pretty awful. I just don't like homer reporting in any shape or fashion. Can't stand listening to any team's local announcers/reporters, truthfully. I want a national broadcast with neutral reporting.
  17. Denver is a league-worst -18 in TO differential. With the Bills' D returning to form this bodes well for us.
  18. I tell ya, between Bass kicking a ball directly over top of the upright on a PAT and the Bills' awful two-point conversion defense we'll be lucky to win another game.
  19. Sort of. Yes, the Jests are a trainwreck, but if you get to draft and groom Trevor Lawrence I think you take that chance. Becoming relevant in the NFL is all about who you get at QB -- god knows as Bills fans we should all appreciate that.
  20. Well, if you absolutely NEED to b-i-t-c-h about something...
  21. Key word -- "supportive." That word says absolutely nothing about BELIEF.
  22. I think we need to focus on letting Daboll go out with a ring, and groom Dorsey to take the job over. Daboll's as good as gone and I don't think money has anything to do with it. You don't get into that business to turn down a chance to run the whole show.
  23. I was pleasantly surprised by Collinsworth in the 2nd half. Perhaps it is simply that in general I'm not a fan of announcers who effusively praise players and I'm not used to the Bills being the subject of such praise. LOL
  24. I’ve stopped complaining about Collinsworth because for all of his knowledge and ability to analyze the game he will always have an agenda. It is what it is. He was one of those who didn’t think Josh could ever “make it” and so he has to come up with an explanation for his success other than that he was wrong.
