Just ordered it. Thanks. -
Will other teams make draft mistakes because of Josh?
eball replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen’s path to the NFL is extremely uncommon. I don’t need to recount that path here but it is rarer than rare. It was absolutely necessary to investigate his background and what “makes him tick” to understand whether or not you thought he could realize that enormous potential. He is truly a unicorn, which is the reason why EVEN NOW you have media types knocking him. I don’t expect to see anyone like him again soon, and perhaps ever. -

You still don’t get it, or maybe you’re just not smart enough to understand it. The answer is in your own post. Allen is rare; his “profile” is not common. How many guys who didn’t grow up playing QB and had to solicit college offers even make it to a D1 program to begin with? You took the lazy way out looking at stats (like so many others) and didn’t do the digging that the Bills obviously did. And worse, even after seeing Allen’s jump from Y1 to Y2 you were still one of those predicting he had reached his peak. And you made fun of those of us who saw and predicted continuing improvement. I’m glad you’re “happy” to have been proven wrong because man, you were dead wrong, and a jerk in the process. -

In the FIFTH round. Not sure why that fact belongs in this thread. -
Better than DNP. Still have a couple of days.

Mike Tomlin on physicality of Bills
eball replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meh. You’re a sadsack. You also hate that most of my analysis and predictions concerning McD, Allen, and this team have been accurate. I don’t think you’re even really happy when the Bills do well because it gives you less to b-I-t-c-h about. -

Always moving the goalposts...keep being you, man. -
Confirmed: Moss benched after fumble
eball replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it’s fair to revisit this take that I thought was bad at the time, and has aged even more poorly. Clearly McD and Daboll know what they are doing and Moss is probably a more focused player for it. -

But are you still waiting for McD to show you something against “good teams?” -
Denver threads. Week 15 #BUFvsDEN | #BillsMafia
eball replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. -
Any game against the Pats*** is anything but meaningless.
-
Because in every other thread discussing this game people are calling it a trap game. This thread needs to be started at least once per season.

Mike Tomlin on physicality of Bills
eball replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not saying I disagree with you but Edmunds was plenty physical on the goal line vs. SF last week. And yes, the Bills matched the Steelers' physicality Sunday night. Nobody said they did it by "a large margin" -- the fact is that Buffalo squads of the past 20 years have rarely risen to the occasion when facing "physical" opponents but this season they are doing it. -
The proof comes from looking at the winning percentages of "good" teams vs. "bad" teams either the week before (trap game) or week after (letdown game) they play another "good" team. It's easily verifiable. There's no statistically significant difference. Sometimes bad teams beat good teams, and there is no statistical proof it's because the good team "overlooked" them.
-
You're sort of proving my point. Betting lines are based upon perception, not reality, and if people "think" there are trap games they bet accordingly. In the NFL even the bad teams are loaded with talent. It truly is an "any given Sunday" league. These guys know if they aren't ready to play they'll get embarrassed. It's a fact. Sure, they may look at the W-L records and think "we should win this game" but they wouldn't be playing in the NFL if they allowed that to impact the effort they put forth. By the way, put me in contact with your friend!
-
It seems we have to address this every season, but there is NO data to back up the trap game or letdown game myth. Bottom line — there is no evidence that good teams beat bad teams at a higher or lower rate when they play a good team the week before or the week after that game. This is an old article but it tells the story. Stop the madness.

Mike Tomlin on physicality of Bills

I commented to my friends in a text thread during the game that something I was most proud of was how the Bills were matching the Steelers’ physicality — something we have rarely seen out of our team over the past 20 years. It’s exciting. -
The Saints didn’t have a letdown, they have Taysom Hill playing QB. “Trap” games don’t exist. It has been proven over and over and over again.
-
Oh, come on, brother, you’re better than this! No. Such. Thing.
-
I can’t believe we are engaged in a thread about how to play Denver on the road. This has been done, folks. For a very long time. Yes, they have an advantage because they are used to the elevation but this is nothing novel and for a guy as focused on preparation as McD what exactly are we worried about?
-
This is pretty spot on. Lamar is a "winning" QB but he's not a great passing QB, and to reach the ultimate prize (SB) you have to get through at least one or two defenses who will be able to slow that running game down.
-
System QB? ROFLMAO. Yeah, except the "system" requires athletic abilities only a handful of professional QBs possess.
-
My logic is simple -- the Bills don't need any players on offense to take them over the top. The defense could use help primarily at 2nd CB or edge rusher. If you think Schobel was trash/overrated then I don't have very much respect for your football-related cognitive abilities. A player of his caliber on this defense would "eat."
