Week 16 - Patriots at Bills Game Week Thread (Game at 4:25pm ET)
eball replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bad take. The Bills have given him numerous chances and he obviously hasn’t proven he deserves to stay on the 53 or PS. -
Could part of that (in this game) be a function of not trusting the backup players in the secondary?

I didn’t vote but they’re all amazing. I’ve already watched the condensed version of this game again three times, just to marvel at how Josh managed this offense and re-appreciate those throws. I also agree with Josh that they left points out there despite scoring 48. Perhaps this is not the right place for this additional analysis, but I felt “better” about the defense after rewatching the game as well. Bernard was literally a fingertip away from deflecting or intercepting the 3rd-and-17 shot to St. Brown that kept Detroit in the game. I think he thought he had it. If that one pass isn’t completed this game never even has the appearance of being close. Would love to see this defense get just a touch healthier…and I am a bit excited about the prospect of a Hyde/Rapp safety combo for the playoffs.

The short FG miss was totally an alignment thing. I mean, how many of those short kicks do teams attempt anyway these days? What I'm looking at with respect to Bass is how he is striking the ball. That's why I'm not worried about him any more. He is really hitting the ball great. Every other kick on Sunday was blasted down the middle.

When Tim Settle talks, people...umm...listen?

Chargers' offense has fallen off a cliff. Steelers are completely inconsistent and unreliable. We all know what the Giants are. The Eagles rushed for 140 against them and only threw the ball 19 times. -

I will always have a soft spot for Tre. He was the first piece in changing the culture of the Bills and represented the team and city spectacularly well, while performing at an exceptional level. He's also funny as hell -- I'll never forget him picking up the pages of the Ravens' play sheets when they blew onto the field. Hilarious.

Are the Patriots still the NFL team you dislike the most?
eball replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope, and they never were. It's the stinking Fish and then everybody else. -

I agree. Stillers' D is much better than the Ravens' D, but their offense is not reliable. I think Baltimore is the more dangerous team simply because of their offense. -
Who has been the 2nd best Bill this season?
eball replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
If there was a choice of “starting OL” that would be my pick. -
Was just going to type the same thing. Resurrecting Darnold and putting that team where they are deserves the award.

Most "power rankings" are just folks looking at W-L records. You want an in-depth ranking? Go to The Athletic. This week the Eagles are #1 and the Bills are #2, which makes sense to me. Where is KC? #6, behind Detroit, GB, and Minnesota.
-
Sort of ridiculous to even consider a ranking of better than 50% for any team, for numerous reasons: 1 -- it makes absolutely no statistical sense 2 -- presumably once a team gets to the Super Bowl that is the first time they could realistically be considered to have a 50% chance or better of winning Statements about Josh "peaking too early" are insane. There are only 6 or 7 games left. He's ramping up exactly as one would hope. The health of the Bills' defense is really the only thing stopping us. I'd put the Bills' current odds at roughly 20%.

Bills to debut a new uniform combo - red on white
eball replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hilarious that they trot these out vs. the Pats***. Good looking combo, though. Much better than the all reds.- 124 replies

He's a "glue guy." Every great team has and needs them. Has been a great addition.
-
He already owns multiple NFL records/firsts and seems to be creating new categories almost weekly. If Josh's career continues on its current trajectory he's a no-doubt first ballot HOFer. I don't need to see more to know that.
-
I just don't understand this mentality. Josh hasn't kept the Bills from getting to the Super Bowl, and he has arguably only played one "bad" playoff game in his career. In 20 career playoff games Bruce recorded 14.5 sacks, but there were several playoff games in which Bruce disappeared. Bruce had the benefit of playing on a roster with five other HOFers...that's why they got to Super Bowls. If you don't want to give it to him now, fine, but it's only a matter of time before it's not even questioned. Josh is the best Buffalo Bill of all-time.

Bruce Smith couldn't even knock a freaking football out of Jeff Hostetler's hand...he doesn't deserve the honor.

Jared Goff didn't want to be drafted by Buffalo (unsubstantiated)
eball replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are we supposed to be “up in arms” about this? Before the McD era, who did want to come to Buffalo? There were lots of stories about how players who didn’t want to come here then learned to love and embrace the city and fan base, but aside from just wanting to play in the NFL what player from a warm weather or big-city environment would have wanted to be drafted by the Bills? Much ado about nothing. P.S. As an aside, Goff is criminally underrated. He makes some ridiculously good throws and is tough as nails.
