I was at the game so I didn't listen to the broadcast and I didn't record it and it was such a boring game I don't plan on re-watching, but I'm curious... how critical were they of Taylor? From my seat it looked like there were open receivers on plays where Taylor threw it away. Did they mention that on the broadcast?

Bears kick off HC hiring with Chiefs OC Matt Nagy
fridge replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hilarious. Feels good not to be the one hiring coaches that will obviously fail. -
I was never high on Cousins but I paid close attention to him this year. They didn't have a great line in Washington, but I would pass. He doesn't come off as a "gamer". His ceiling is probably more like that of Jay Cutler's career. I'd rather draft a guy in the first, sign a lower tier vet, and have them battle with Peterman in the offseason. If we want to make a big jump quickly, I don't think Cousins is the answer.

As far as these coaches are concerned, conservatism has paid off so far, and I don't expect anything different. I don't think we need to win a shootout to take this game, and I think the coaches will view ball security as a premium. I think we should absolutely run Tyrod wild though. We have nothing to lose. Just roll him out with a couple levels every single play. It's almost impossible to defend, and I think it would tire out their linebackers.

Wired for Sound: Tre'Davious White

I loved how he was watching and rooting the offense on while getting his cramp worked out. The way he was the first to notice Kyle in at full back was hilarious. -
How many Bills fans will be in Jacksonville?

Flying in from LA with my girlfriend and friend. Plan on meeting another group of 4. I expect Saturday to be insane. Same haha -
Can we scratch you?

Blows my mind that people don't understand why we are bashing Tyrod. We're not saying he's the worst ever or anything outrageous. We're simply saying that his limitations are really escalated when you're losing late in the game. It gets annoying needing a perfect defense and the moons to align just right to win every game. It would be nice to have a QB bail us out every now and then.

I'd take Gilleslee in a fight because sometimes endurance comes into play. I don't know for sure that Tolbert is out of shape, but he probably would be catching his breath soon after the start. I strongly considered selecting Tolbert because of his size, but then I realized that Tolbert mostly just runs straight at people which isn't a sound tactic. He could sit on TD Mike, but I don't want to ignore the fact that Mike is also a professional athlete, and I believe it might be hard to sit on a professional athlete if they're also fighting you.

Umm... The point of '96 was that Bledsoe inherited a crappy team when he was drafted three years prior. It's the very thing you're giving Luck credit for doing. They're very similar and their comparison is important because we literally acquired Bledsoe after an injury riddled season around the same time in his career that you're talking about getting Luck.
-
How old are you? You do realize that Bledsoe played in a Super Bowl in 96 right? Your argument about the team talent is ridiculous and makes me think you don't remember that era very well. From Wikipedia: Under his tenure as starting quarterback, the Patriots ended an eight-season postseason drought, qualified for the playoffs six times, and made one Super Bowl appearance. In his second season with the team, he was named to the 1995 Pro Bowland was the youngest quarterback to appear in the NFL's all-star game at the time.
-
I think you are using your own personal opinion on how talented their roster is as a fact. The only facts I'm using are their age, their playoff success, and their hype coming into the league. If you want to sit in the weeds debating the level of talent on the teams you can do that until your face turns blue, I don't care. Whether you like it or not, Luck has been underwheing as "the next great QB" while playing in one of the worst divisions in football. If you want to blame GMs or blame other circumstances, that's perfectly fine. It has nothing to do with what I'm alleging.
-
Your judgement of QB play is too reliant on the quality of the roster. Only one thing matters. Bledsoe at 29 had been to more super bowls than Luck, and had more playoff wins. They were both highly touted 1st overall QBs. It's an apt comparison.
-
I never said he wasn't good. He's obviously good. I'm talking about being overrated. It's becoming a pedantic argument anyways, but acquiring him would be eerily similar to when we got Bledsoe.
-
I don't understand how you can be a generational talent and still get the benefit of the doubt with roster talent. Andrew Luck will be 29 years old to start next season and he will have 3 playoff wins to his name. Keep in mind his division has been absolute JOKE his whole career. He's no slouch, don't get me wrong, but he's simply not this world beater I've been hearing about for years. Acquiring Luck would be very similar to when we got Bledose, who was a 30 year-old former 1st overall QB with 4 playoff wins to his name.
-
He could very be the most overrated athlete of my lifetime. He's not bad, obviously, but he isn't even close to what he was projected to be.

Meanwhile at Finheaven, feeling good about Cutler vs Bills

Classic Fitzpatrick 4th quarter INT with the lead. -
I want to keep Glenn. I've never been someone to hold nagging injuries against a player (except Jarius Byrd...there's just something about that guy...). I really hope we're not trying to trade him for a 4th round pick. Handing talent away for nothing is frustrating. If Glen can fully heal, he will be a starting LT for possibly 10 years.

Yes, he is a wall of fame guy. No, I'm not a wall of fame guy.

The “Billsiest” way for the season to end
fridge replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Billsiest way: - We win the two dolphins games, lose to Patriots - Chiefs beat chargers, but each team goes 2-1 down the stretch - Baltimore falls apart - We end up in a tie for sixth with the chargers - We lose the tiebreak because of our head to head record, aka the Peterman situation
