  1. Shhh. Let them think we’re getting something shiny and new.
  2. Very excited to see if we sign him after the draft ends.
  3. Wow. End a team’s playoff drought, win a road comeback wildcard game and eventually lose to the Patriots in round 2 and you get fired? What a ruthless league.
  4. I wouldn’t read too much into Daboll’s cup of coffee in Alabama. I think the biggest take away from it is that Saban trusts him. There’s no overlap with AJ and Daboll and I don’t know if that’s the kind of decision Daboll would be making right out of the gate.
  5. Why? What does he have to do with Daboll?
  6. I totally understand and get where you’re coming from, but you must acknowledge that to draw your conclusion is to literally wipe out and ignore the 4 years he held the position we hired him for, right? I dig the username though and appreciate any Wes Anderson reference. Cheers!
  7. Ive ended most of my posts with something similar to “hopefully he isn’t crap, let’s wait and see”. You guys are taking a real offense to anyone that dares to mention his past NFL OC experience. Hopefully he isn’t crap. Let’s wait and see. I trust McDermott.
  8. What about my post that you replied to made you feel that I am clueless? I have acknowledged that he had bad QB's (and for the record, Cassel had gone to the pro bowl in 2010). That's not lost on me at all. The problem is that we have also had terrible QB's, and unless something incredible happens in the offseason, I don't expect for Brett Favre in his prime to be under center for us. I've read some good and some bad on Daboll's offense. I've been trying to be very realistic about the hire but jesus man... why call me clueless just because I'm nervous that this guy doesn't have a great history? I have season tickets even though I live on the other side of the country. I rebooked my flight home to greet the team at the damn airport after they clinched the playoffs. I flew to Jacksonville. I'm not some doom and gloom fan. I want this team to win just as much as you and I'm pumped for the season. Just because someone has a different opinion than you doesn't mean they're clueless. Over the last three seasons we have had an incredible rushing attack, but it hasn't helped us win games when we're trailing late. You need opposing defenses to fear the threat of a pass. Daboll displayed over the course of 4 seasons that passing attempts are not an integral part of his offense. I'm happy that his rushing attack has been proven successful, but I'd love to have a legitimate passing attack. It's been YEARS. Everyone has been giving him a pass, as those though 4 years never happened. I get it, I honestly do. It's easy to say, "hey it's the browns, it's the dolphins, it's the chiefs", but those were historically bad offenses. I'm still hopeful that his fourth stint as an NFL OC he figures it out and maybe his experiences since KC have helped him take advantage of this opportunity. He's a little older now, surely a little wiser, a little more successful and hopefully ready to learn from his past mistakes. I trust McDermott and I hope it all works out.
  9. The Vikings are keeping Case Keenum. This wasn't some Trent Dilfer-esque midseason run they're on. Keenum won them this game.
  10. You guys need to relax. SDS you can yell at me to stop all you want. As I said before, I trust McDermott. I'm also not even remotely "living under a dark cloud", I'm literally citing and pointing towards his stats. If you want to throw those out the window, fine... but it's not simply that he's been responsible for some terrible offenses, but he's shown to have an aversion to passing with the frequency of the rest of the league. I understand everyone wants a parade today, and I'm not going to bring up his NFL OC track record again. I get it, right? He won a national championship, Belichick likes him, etc. Those are not lost points on me, but someone needs to be realistic here and admit we should be a little cautious/nervous about the hire. The decision has been made so now he's our guy and I'll root for him as hard as all of you when fall rolls around, but please understand that it's very possible that we have an incredibly boring and ineffective offense this season.
  11. So we should expect to have somewhere between the 28th and 32nd most passing attempts. I can’t stress enough how little I agree with this “offensive philosophy”.
  12. Hopefully this decision has had no impact on Tyrod and he was already going to be released or traded in the first week of March.
  13. That season they averaged 13.18 points/game. I wouldn't wish re-watching that offense on my worst enemy. Godspeed.
  14. Crystal clear. You're a genius and I'm an idiot. Got it.
  15. Come on now. You know better than that. Every hire ever has a million fluff pieces. Outside of Doug Marrone, I can't ever reading other coaches bad mouthing a guy we've hired... maybe ever.
  16. I think 32nd out of 32 is pretty close to the definition of failure, but I understand your point. This guy has had no QB, there is no arguing that. The problem is that, as of today, we really don't either. I was hoping for an exciting modern passing offense and looking at this guy's numbers where he's been, he doesn't seem to attempt many passes. That's really all I've got. I'm hopeful this works out, and I trust McDermott, but this is not exactly a slam dunk hire.
  17. Our three best players
  18. What does this even mean? I can't look at a guy's track record because of Bill Belichick???
  19. I haven't seen a lot of people saying they hate it. We're just being cautious/nervous. This guy has failed spectacularly as an NFL OC.
  20. This is exactly correct. As the days go on I'll keep my head up and hope for the best, but all stats and evidence point towards this going about as well as the last 10 OC's we've had.
  21. Am I crazy, or is the bolded the very thing that has been holding us back for the last few years? We need to pass, or least have the threat of passing, or we will never be able to score late in the game when the other team knows what you're doing. I'm nervous about Daboll's "system" and I am worried he won't be the best guy to entrust our shiny new franchise QB with.
  22. You're taking more stock in a couple quotes than actual facts. This has nothing to do with "the guy I wanted." I didn't even really have a guy or look that deeply into the options. I just wanted a modern NFL offense, and this guy has finished dead last in passing offense 50% of the time he's been an OC. I get it, I get it, it's all about the QB, but we don't have one yet and I think it's perfectly reasonable to be nervous about this hire. I'll stand behind McDermott because the teams appears to be headed in the right direction, but this is not the style of offense I enjoy watching, and so far it's not a very successful NFL offense.
  23. ...so are ours...
  24. Why is that?
  25. I'm right there with you. For whatever reason we seem to want to stay in the dark ages of NFL passing offense.
