Come on now. You know better than that. Every hire ever has a million fluff pieces. Outside of Doug Marrone, I can't ever reading other coaches bad mouthing a guy we've hired... maybe ever.

I think 32nd out of 32 is pretty close to the definition of failure, but I understand your point. This guy has had no QB, there is no arguing that. The problem is that, as of today, we really don't either. I was hoping for an exciting modern passing offense and looking at this guy's numbers where he's been, he doesn't seem to attempt many passes. That's really all I've got. I'm hopeful this works out, and I trust McDermott, but this is not exactly a slam dunk hire.

This is exactly correct. As the days go on I'll keep my head up and hope for the best, but all stats and evidence point towards this going about as well as the last 10 OC's we've had.

We need to pass, or least have the threat of passing, or we will never be able to score late in the game when the other team knows what you're doing. I'm nervous about Daboll's "system" and I am worried he won't be the best guy to entrust our shiny new franchise QB with.

You're taking more stock in a couple quotes than actual facts. This has nothing to do with "the guy I wanted." I didn't even really have a guy or look that deeply into the options. I just wanted a modern NFL offense, and this guy has finished dead last in passing offense 50% of the time he's been an OC. I get it, I get it, it's all about the QB, but we don't have one yet and I think it's perfectly reasonable to be nervous about this hire. I'll stand behind McDermott because the teams appears to be headed in the right direction, but this is not the style of offense I enjoy watching, and so far it's not a very successful NFL offense.

I'm trying real hard not to be negative about this hire, but that is down right scary. You're being incredibly loose with the term if the Saints qualify as "ground and pound".

I'm pretty much over "ground and pound". We had a top overall rushing attack for two years, and a top 10 attack this year, and it's not like we were killing teams out there. It makes comebacks impossible and I get jealous watching all these modern NFL offenses.

Look man, I'm not here to start an argument, but those are the facts. We also don't have a good QB. He was fired 3 times in 4 seasons. Those totals are bad. I'm actually still a little optimistic because of his experience, but those are the facts.

A franchise QB solves all problems, but for reference his NFL OC history is atrocious. He finished in the bottom 4 in total offense 3 of 4 years: 2009 Cleveland Browns - 29th ranked offense 2010 Cleveland Browns - 31st ranked offense 2011 Miami Dolphins - 20th ranked offense 2012 Kansas City Chiefs - 32nd ranked offense

McDermott's tenure here could be dependent on this hire and how he handles the offense if it struggles.
