  1. Amazing how many people lost faith in this team after all they did last year was overcome impossible situations. Lots of blind people in Buffalo. Loser fans.
  2. Good question. We were walking away from Taylor anyway. I’d say he was slightly above average compared to past Bills QBs. I personally thought he had no balls, but that’s another story. So the question is who would we have gotten at QB if not Allen? I remember hearing about us going hard at Kirk Cousins back then but the price was too high. I think McDermott can squeeze more wins than a typical HC. Just look at how elite we are with bounce back wins since he took over. He’s an elite coach when it comes to culture. I think we’d be a perennial 9-7 and 10-6 wildcard type team without Allen. We’d have more money to spend on other positions. Sign an elite DE or RB along with a Cousins or Goff level QB.
  3. I’ll take a stab at it. McDermott (or McBeane since they work so closely together on roster building) was about +2 or +3 wins above replacement with Tyrod Taylor at QB compared to an average/below average coach like Rex Ryan. Allen is probably a +4 to +6 wins above replacement compared to a Tyrod Taylor. That’s based on going 13-3 last year with 3 close losses that could’ve gone either way. All in all, we’re very lucky to have both.
  4. It all means something. Both come prepared on opening day.
  5. Great talent. First comp I think of is a bigger Russell Wilson.
  6. This post is for the ones who are actually curious to know. 1. It's extremely difficult in a 32 team league with a salary cap to be the one team that wins a Super Bowl. All 32 teams have billions of reasons to win a SB themselves. 2. Unlucky breaks. The entire season last year was statistically improbably in terms of unfortunate incidents. 3. Extraordinary unlucky break. I'm talking 13 Seconds. Perfect storm black swan situation. I think that's about all folks. The reason the Bills haven't won a Super Bowl with Allen yet is due to an unusual amount of unlucky breaks in an ultra-competitive league. Smart money is on the chips falling into place during the next few years.
  7. The goal posts have somehow moved from "we should've drafted Rosen" to "Allen is not doing what Mahomes/Brady/Manning would be doing right now". The more I read, I agree with the idea that some of these posters are sick. Mentally ill in some ways. Not all of them, just a few in particular. Be careful arguing with them too much, they'll drag you down into the dark place they live in, just like they're trying to drag Allen/McBeane down with them.
  8. The defense showed up against the Ravens and won us that game. They should be keeping the rest of the games close for the offense. But I agree, defense cost us both Chiefs games and partly the Bengals game. A better performance and Allen pulls those games out.
  9. I guess I just never got that. “Protecting yourself” from a sports team letting you down. We’re not talking protecting yourself from your girl cheating on you or something. It’s a freaking sports team. Why the heavy emotional blow? I thought we were men here. My sense has been that if it hurts THAT much, your life is out of balance (speaking in general, not to you). It should suck for one day then move on to next season. If it’s a terrible wound that requires “walls” and “pessimism” to fill, there’s something wrong with the person, not the organization.
  10. Some personalities like to destroy. Even the good things. They do it in their personal lives as well. I think that’s the type of people these fans are. They subconsciously want it all torn down again. They are never happy. After we win a SB they will start nitpicking and want it all torn down again. And again and again. NYC is like this to a much higher degree. Just waiting for Jeter to trip up so they can eat him alive. Wilson is the most recent sacrifice and they are just itching for the Rodgers comeback turned washed up story already prepped in the oven.
  11. “When will we hold Beane accountable.” ”Beane only hit on Allen and Diggs.” “Beane can’t draft in the 2nd round”. How is it possible 100 fans on this board suddenly started saying the same thing at the same time? I swear some people on this board secretly want it all torn down so they don’t have to deal with the pressure of winning and rooting for a winning organization.
  12. They claimed every year would finally be the Pat’s demise, but it never happened. Best HC/GM/QB combo in the league. Suck it fake fans.
  13. You can’t hit on all of them.
  14. I saw him try to save a puppy running down the street without a leash. He couldn’t chase it down.
  15. He said while drunk on a barstool somewhere.
  16. My sense of that draft was that we needed a CB2 and there was a run on CBs before our pick. Elam was the last CB with a 1st round grade and we took him despite him not really being the guy we wanted. He has amazing physical tools but something isn’t clicking mentally with him yet. There’s still time for it to click and we should give him until next training camp to figure it out. In the meantime we’ve had two amazing late round CB picks to soften the blow. I don’t get these Beane haters. I think they just don’t get it. I think they’ve just spent the last 25 years blaming the HC and GM for everything that it’s just a habit. Winning exposes these fans for what they are. Idiots with personal problems.
  17. She’s easy on the eyes.
  18. Hopefully they script Hamlin to win a SB.
  19. Elam seems dumb and immature to me compared to a typical McBeane era Bills player? Anyone else get that vibe from him? Florida thing?
  20. It’s a trade off. Something will be lost as a HC with the time spent as DC. Will it be enough to negatively affect the season? That’s the real question.
  21. I may be wrong but I think there are a few reasons. 1. Our success gives us late round draft picks so we miss out on the best tackles. 2. Defense first mindset leads to defense draft picks in the first round. 3. Trading Teller was Beane’s biggest blunder and he’ll tell you that himself. 4. Dawkins got a bad case of Covid which has affected his prime. 5. We generally focus on one year veteran rentals on the Oline and put our money elsewhere. 6. Morse was a great FA pickup. Spencer Brown has been a so-so pick. 7. Big swing and miss on Cody Ford. 8. Allen being Allen makes us undervalue Oline. Cognitive bias. In my opinion trading Teller and screwing up the Cody Ford pick is why we are still here today. Those two things going our way and Dawkins not getting a bad case of Covid and we would’ve had an elite Oline for a few years now.
  22. It is a culture move. I think Frazier was too soft and passive and McDermott got sick of it. “I’ll show you how to run this damn ship, I used to be a DC once”. It’s ballsy, confident, and he’s leading by example. “Even I do whatever it takes, so you better too.” Lead from the front. The concern is that it’s impossible to be a HC/CEO at a high level when you’re busy running multiple departments. Being a DC will take away from being a sharp HC. The better his DC assistants are this year, the smoother 2023 will go. But I full anticipate, and McDermott likely does too, that this is a one year thing. We get a good DC next year. Allen is 100% Jordan in 88. It’s not about him. It’s about the supporting cast. You see, Allen has IT. You take away Zay Jones and given him Stefan Diggs and he gives you the #1 receiver in the league. What that means is that if you give him a great Oline, you will see the best pocket passer since Rodgers. You give him an elite TE and elite WR2 and elite RB and you will get the greatest show on turf. Allen will adjust his game based on whatever you give him. His mind is tuned to one goal, and that is winning. And like Tom Hanks stranded on an island, he will use whatever he has to win. Hot take. If Von returns to form and stays healthy all year, we win the SB. Reason? We need 1 guy on defense to have the championship mindset of Diggs and Allen.
  23. Davis and Kincaid performing at a high level would be a massive improvement offensively over last year. My sense is that there will be less bombs from Allen this year and more pocket passing short to intermediate routes with a running game. With a better oline we will hopefully see less scrambling from Allen also.
  24. I hope these fans don’t jump off bridges when they have a bad day in their personal life. It’s like their minds are incapable of seeing any sort of big picture. They don’t understand cycles and flows of things. Just zero wisdom of life, or even football for that matter.
  25. Best NFL board on the internet, right?
