  1. Here's where Fitz ranks in career passing yards. He also has more yards than HOFers Bradshaw, Stabler, Len Dawson, Namath, Blanda. 1,800 yards in the last 8 games this year and he's up to #40. He obviously benefits from it being a passing league now and now he's played a lot of years but still....he's played for 8 different teams (1/4 of the league). 30 Jim Hart 34,665 1966-1984 2TM 31 Steve DeBerg 34,241 1978-1998 6TM 32 Tony Romo 34,183 2004-2016 dal 33 Alex Smith 34,068 2005-2018 3TM 34 John Hadl 33,503 1962-1977 4TM 35 Phil Simms 33,462 1979-1993 nyg 36 Steve Young+ 33,124 1985-1999 2TM 37 Y.A. 2. This is incorrect, Siran Neal did not play a single defensive snap yesterday. Kevin Johnson played a handful at nickel, Neal only played special teams.
  3. Also interesting that Hughes got 76%, Murphy 69% and Lawson 55% at DE. D Johnson got none. Lorenzo does get some on DL in passing situations. Phillips 65%, Star 57%, Oliver 35% and Taylor 18% means L Alexander got 25% of the interior DL snaps. Harrison Phillips may be the best interior DL. Chicken/egg question: Are the inside guys less effective because the outside/edge guys are just okay (Hughes - good, Lawson - decent, Murphy - ?) or the outside guys less effective because the inside guys are just okay? My take is that counting H Phillips they have 6 pretty good-to-good players, no real standout, no one that their opponents have to game plan for. In some respects it's like their group of WRs now.
  4. Injury report: Taron Johnson, Matt Milano and Corey Thompson are questionable, though T Johnson was full participant at practice. Who are the inactives? My guess: Thompson, Milano, Dean Marlowe, Jaquan Johnson, Ike Boettger, Tommy Sweeney and if past history is a good guide, Bates. Super thin at LB. I can't see them dressing 4 TEs. If Taron Johnson doesn't play then Marlowe's in.
  5. Interesting - 83.5% say he should be on a team in the league, which means that he is at least one of the top 64 QBs. However, when confronted with a situation where poll takers have a need on "their" team (theoretically Bills need to pick up the 65th best QB), 67% say "not for my team". Those answers contradict each other. If he's good enough to be in the league and if your team is all about acquiring the best players available, then 83.5% should have responded sign him for the Bills scenario.
  6. They are going to trade all 3 of their 2020 fifth rounders and their 2 2021 5th rounders for Trent Williams.
  7. As of now: Zay Jones 90 Robert Foster 27 Duke Williams 4 I almost included him as a choice he had 14.
  8. Who will have more career receptions? A. Zay Jones B. Duke Williams C. Robert Foster
  9. Given: The AFC looks very middling except for New England and KC and the Bills played NE tough and KC looked a little vulnerable vs. Indy. The Bills have a favorable schedule. The defense looks like it could be elite/championship caliber. They have most of their key players under contract through 2020 (Alexander probably retires, only starters not signed for '20 are Levi Wallace, Quinton Spain, Frank Gore, key subs not under contract are Shaq Lawson, Jordan Phillips) The team is in a favorable cap situation in '20 Is there enough of a chance to go for it for 2019 by giving up some future assets (draft picks) to get 2-3 players to help them contend this year or is 2020 the year to go for it? Do they have enough to get Trent Williams and a top notch WR (Diggs or Green)? Would they/you be willing to part with to get two high end players for the offense? Green would be a rental for 11 games and has a $12.1 salary component so pro-rated he would cost about $8 million on the cap. Trent Williams is $11 million salary so would count about $7.3 million on the cap. Would Cincy take a 3rd and a player for Green (Foster or Zay)? Would Washington take a 2nd and a player (Foster or Zay - whoever Cincy doesn't take)? Would they be willing to trade both picks? Would the addition of both players be enough to make the offense top 10? I think 2020 roster looks great but they will play the NFC West and AFC West and the 2nd place teams from AFC North and South, so the schedule will be tougher. Getting two players like that, then getting SIngletary back from injury and maybe even Kroft is a real boost and could make a big difference.
  10. My prediction is that one of three things happens with Duke: 1. He takes snaps away from Foster, not Zay Jones 2. He gets less than 15 plays total (less than 20% of snaps) 3. He is inactive tomorrow As a result the posters here at TBD have a collective nuclear meltdown.
  11. All you Duke fans out there even if they add him to the 53 he's probably not one of the active 46. They aren't going to have 7 active WRs. Only way he is active is if Foster is inactive. Inactive #1: Kroft Inactive #2: Thompson Inactive #3: Could be Nsekhe Inactive #4: Either Taron Johnson (injured) or Jaquan Johnson Inactive #5: Presuming Long is okay it's Boettger Inactive #6: Could be Singletary but if he plays it is probably a WR. Inactive #7:. It's not a QB, DL, LB or TE. If Nsekhe is out and Boettger inactive, then it's not an OL. If Taron Johnson plays it could be Marlowe. But most likely it's whoever they made the 53rd player. They also could re-sign McDermott if Nsekhe is out. Yeah, probably Duke. If Singletary plays they probably only dress 5. They already have 6 on roster, Duke would make 7. They probably sit 2. No way Duke plays in that scenario That's why I don't' think they promote him. I think the only way they promote to 53 is if he's going to suit up as one of the 46 on Sunday.
  12. Coming soon to the list (when he's healthy): Devin Singletary. Ed Oliver could get there too.
  13. From the Patriots media guide: DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH Richard Miller is in his 24th season with the Patriots. Miller joined the Patriots as Player Compensation Analyst in March 1996 and was promoted to Director of Research in 2001. Miller is responsible for managing the Patriots salary cap and player costs; player contract research and statistical trends; financial and strategic planning; and assisting the personnel department with draft, free agency and game advance analytics. A native of Hortonville, Wis., Miller graduated from Carroll University with bachelor’s degree in finance and economics in 1993 and from Brandeis University with a master’s degree in international economics in 1996. Miller also matriculated at Aberystwyth University in Wales and the National University of Singapore. Miller resides in Franklin, Mass., with his wife, Sharon, and two sons, Colin and Joshua. Matt Lindsay is in his third season as a data analyst for the New England Patriots. Lindsay joined the organization as an intern in January 2017 before joining the staff full time in June of 2018. Lindsay played wide receiver and tight end at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated in 2017 with a degree in math and physics. Born and raised in Batavia, Ill., Lindsay graduated from Wheaton Academy where he played football. They also have an IT director that has been with them 20 years that maintains research databases, amongst other things. So they utilize analytics just like everyone else.
  14. Somewhere in the 14-18 range for Barkley seems about right if evaluating strictly play on the field which is what the list focuses on. He is very valuable off the field as Allen's mentor, may be top 5 for that. I'd take him as a mentor over Manning, Bortles, Tyrod.
  15. I am amazed by the continued fascination/overrating of Duke WIlliams. He was at best the #7 receiver for the Bills who have an average WR group, and no other team had any interest in him. So what is the entire NFL missing on this guy that all the TBD experts see other than a tall, slow WR with average hands? I would bet he never catches a pass in a regular season game for the Bills.
  16. In general I think teams should go for it on 4th more often. I was really torn sitting at the game and we discussed prior to 3rd down too. If I'm going for it on 4th I spread and give Allen a read option type play similar to the 2 point conversion. That makes the D have to play both run and pass on 4th. Bottom line is you have to know prior to the game if you're going to go for it in that situation and exactly what you're going to run. If you feel really good about your 2 down plan then go for it if you don't kick and take the tie. And avoid delay of game penalties if you do kick (apologies to Ariens)....
  17. I am surprised that Jacksonville is not in the bottom 5. I thought they would give Buffalo a run for #32 but they came in at #23. Buffalo's operating income at $82 million is higher than 12 teams and is essentially the same as 2 others (who are at $83 million), so they are middle of the pack. Low operating costs I guess. They also tied for the 2nd highest percentage increase in franchise value (19%).
  18. If they are going to use 21 personnel so much I would like to see them put Yeldon in as the 2nd back instead of DiMarco and if they shift into a passing play have Yeldon or Singletary splitting out in a WR slot instead of DiMarco.
  19. A look at all of the McDermott/Beane draft picks and UDFA pickups: Good first week for the 2019 draft class: 1. Oliver and Singletary were very good 2. Sweeney performed when called on (2 catches, couldn't tell you on his blocking) 3. Knox not a factor but no negatives 4. Ford struggled 5. D. Johnson in the DE rotation 2018 draft class: 1. Allen up and down but comes through in the end 2. Edmunds - very good game 3. H. Phillips - in rotation acquitted himself well 4. T. Johnson - really good game but got hurt again 5. L Wallace had a very good game 6. S. Neal - solid made a few good plays though had 1-2 shaky ones 7. Foster - nothing 2017 draft class 1. T. White - must have had a very good game they didn't throw much at him 2. Z. Jones - nothing spectacular but made the catches when thrown to 3. D. Dawkins - Looked bad on the one play but overall pretty solid 4. M. Milano - Great game To have 15 players from the last 3 drafts (plus a couple UDFAs) contribute and overall be very good except Ford is very encouraging and really starts to establish a good foundation for the team.
  20. Beane has shown that he is operating this team like a business and not emotionally. McCoy is exhibit A. So is Munnerlyn. Coleman is a great example of knowing how to work this system. If Tyree Jackson wasn’t from UB would 95+% of the sign to PS crowd advocate for him? My bet is no. Find someone better.
  21. This is so true. Duke Williams is poster boy this year. As for McCoy, I am sure they tried to trade but as many others have stated the contract is a deal killer. In the end, I bet they decided to do him a favor and release so he could pick his landing spot. The RB corps is starting to look very similar to a NE Patriots group - multiple guys who all do something really well and they can use differently from game to game depending on the plan and the weaknesses in the defense they face.
  22. So not 100% on the mark but general idea is happening (see bolded).
  23. Mine: Marcus Murphy Dean Marlowe Ray Ray McCloud Senorise Perry Eddie Yarbrough Whoever is the last LB cut (Lacy or M. Alexander) If released: Lafayette Pitts Maybe: Kyle Peko
  24. But would Rex being saying that they won the preseason?
