  1. Have you seen any of Rudolph's games? If yes, then tell me why you are so opposed and please don't say he is from a "gimmick offense" unless you can tell me why it is such a gimmick.
  2. True enough about projecting our needs, but i think they have to assume that someone might trade into one of those slots for a QB. Maybe the Bills would not care at that point. Who knows if they'd be just about as happy with Jackson or Rudolph or someone in round 2? i don't think the plan is to hope that McCarron is the long-term answer, but he might be the plan for 2018.
  3. But any of those teams could trade out with another team who wants a QB. I would think Arizona is the prime candidate to do so, but maybe they won't be willing to trade up after they signed Bradford.
  4. Someone earlier summed this up well - why would TB want a 30 year old highly paid pass rusher who had 4 sacks last season? Now, I’m not saying that Hughes couldn’t have a more productive year in 2018, but I don’t think TB would trade anything of value to take that gamble.
  5. I don’t see that as plausible at all. I am sure the Jets tried to trade with the Giants and it appears that the Giants want to stay put - or- would trade out only for an unreasonable amount. This is what I was talking about when I said the Bills “draft capital” wasn’t all that much better than the Jets’ or Broncos’. At this point, I would expect Darnold, Rosen and either Allen or Mayfield to be gone in the first 5 or 6 picks. If the Bills can’t get up to take Mayfield, I think they will look for Lamar Jackson or Mason Rudolph, perhaps moving up a bit from 22 for one of them. Unlike many here, I think Rudolph is a good prospect.
  6. I could get on board with this. I think Rudolph could be pretty good.
  7. If that happens then the Jets will have traded for the third selected QB in the draft. It does not necessarily mean that QB is the 3rd best.
  8. Mayfield is a much better passer than Flutie ever was, but cut Flutie some slack because he was late in his career and his arm was shot when he got to Buffalo.
  9. This thread is ridiculous - all sorts of “experts” who know that the Bills overpaid for Lotulelei. Some PFF run stop% quoted -what exactly is that measuring? The comparison to Albert Haynesworth is really off base - at least in my opinion. Haynesworth was a talented problem child, Lotulelei, by most accounts, is a good teammate and worker whose role is to clog the middle in run defense and do a little pocket pushing on pass plays. We are witnessing the making of the next TBD whipping boy and he hasn’t even played a down here.
  10. I think that Allen is the most risky prospect of the top QBs, but his supporting cast was so weak it is hard for me to hold his completion % against him. If he ends up in a good situation, he could become outstanding. Of course, he could also never get his accuracy issues fixed and bomb out. i would certainly understand if the Bills were to draft him.
  11. Oh, we aren’t worried about missing the next installment of your award winning series.
  12. The concern over his height is warranted as there have been few successful NFL QBs af this height (as you stated), but I think that his apparent drive and attitude will allow him to overcome the odds. All of these QBs have some questions- I’d be very happy to have the Bills give him his chance.
  13. Agreed. He is quite young, adjusting for mostly missing rookie season, he is really just after his rookie season. Bills fans don’t need to look past our own roster (Jerry Hughes) to find an example of a player who took more than a season to develop. Lawson may never be a great pass rusher, but he may become a very good run defender/decent pass rusher - think of a guy like Chris Kelsey. Now, Kelsey was a very good player for the Bills, though many here didn’t like him because he didn’t lead the league in sacks.
  14. To be sure, I think that Rosen is better right now than Allen is. But, I could see why a team might love Allen’s physical gifts and forgive his collegiate shortcomings due to a weak supporting cast. Who will be better in the NFL? I don’t think it is clear cut. Me, I think that Mayfield’s competitiveness may overcome his physical shortcomings and allow him to excel.
  15. You are right, too bad that McDermott and Beane didn’t know much about him before offering him that money... id like to believe that both would know exactly how they want to use Lotulelei and would offer him $ appropriate for that role.
  16. So his 4 years of great play in college don’t matter? Maybe businesses should only hire high school valedictorians.
  17. His supporting cast is what mitigates the competition level. If you believe that a QB’s supporting cast influences his performance (pretty obvious), then you can at least wonder if Allen could be really good in the NFL. He was running for his life and had limited talent at receiver and RB. Does that mean that he may be very good in NFL? Not necessarily, but he does have the physical talent to be picked high.
  18. By those that don’t understand that all picks are risky. I could understand why they might be enticed by his physical talent. It happens at all other positions as well.
  19. Better his whole life is fuzzy. Rosen was better only in that he was more highly recruited coming out of HS.
  20. +1 But those 3 picks left over are more lottery tickets than vouchers guaranteeing good players. Not or saying it would necessarily be a bad plan, but leaving a draft in which you had 5 picks in the top 65 and 6 in top 100 with only 2 players would be tough to accept. Still, I accept that trading up for a QB will cost at least both firsts and likely at least one 2nd.
  21. He really isn’t. There are some who think that his raw talent warrants a very high pick. This is is not a cut and dried, no debate situation.
  22. Agreed. Irrelevant. So are you saying that teams should draft 5 star recruits over players that did well in college?
  23. I respect Taylor, but he did not set a high bar to exceed. i am not sure that I want them to draft Lamar Jackson, but i think he is already better than Taylor and he might get better.
