  1. I understand this is a betting proposition, but for us Bills fans the Allen selection is a long term investment. It is not the first season we should be concerned with, but rather how he does long term. I don’t care if he doesn’t start a game all season, but I do care if he is the answer at QB for the 10 years thereafter (or isn’t the answer).
  2. Absolutely agree. I hope that he receives the required patience from fans and media. No QB would look good in this year’s offense.
  3. NFL puts up draft grades? No they don’t as each team has their own draft grades.
  4. 26CB, I’m sure that you’ve watched Allen college video, as have I. I am SURE that Rosen is MUCH more ready to play now than Allen, but what I took from Allen’s video is that he was desperately trying to carry an undertalented team and he was not in optimal position to maximize his completion %, yet he took the risks to try to will his team to a win. I am willing to take a chance on that upside. Would I have preferred Rosen? Yes, because I am conservative by nature, but I can see how Allen could be a star (or a bust).
  5. The NFL disagrees that Allen is a long shot. He was universally considered part of the top 4. Is he a longer shot than Rosen’s? Yes, but the Bills and pretty sure many other teams felt that his upside was better than Rosen’s. Let’s look at the big picture- there were 4 top QB prospects in this year’s draft with one other (Jackson) being considered a possible 1st round prospect. Because of the Bills’ unexpected playoff season, they were on the outside looking in on these prospects. They were able to trade up to a spot where 2 of those 4 were available and they picked Allen because of his long-term upside potential. i am sure that even the Bills view Rosen as much closer to play than Allen, yet they still picked Allen. i don’t know if Allen will ultimately pan out, but I can see he has great physical talent and apparently a very solid work ethic and good intelligence (based on Wonderlic score).
  6. Buffalo News, Rochester D&C, WGR make their money with negative articles. It is highly predictable. i expect some to be reporting on every Allen incomplete pass in mini-camps, spouting “you can’t fix accuracy”, and calling him a bust in training camp. He was not my first choice, but he has a crazy arm, prototype size and very good athletability for the position. He is clearly a project who needs time having played only two years at a low level D1 program. I know he is a gamble on greatness and it may take 2-3 years to know if we won that gamble. I only hope that the media and impatient fans don’t run him out of town early.
  7. You should not expect more from Sal - he has become bitter through the long stretch of bad Bills teams and he knows that writing negative articles draws readers. i think you are over-estimating 2nd and 3rd round picks as “franchise players or likely starters as rookies “. In round 2, especially late in the round where the Bills’ 2 picks in the second were, maybe half of them become long-term starters and less in round 3.
  8. I was wrong - thought at least one of Giants and Broncos would have taken a QB. I was also wrong - thought Mason Rudolph would have been picked earlier.
  9. Typo, glad you found it hilarious.
  10. It is a great story and inspiring. I have no quarrel with having to wait 10 minutes to hear who the Saints picked in the 6th round to watch Griffin’s story. “secondary” makes up 45% of the defense when they are in nickel (which is pretty often).
  11. Julian Edelman ran 4.52, Danny Amendola ran 4.58 and... Wes Walker ran 4.65
  12. 4.5 is a very respectable 40 time for a wr.
  13. 40.5” vert is better than many NBA players
  14. Are you in EVERY thread saying the same thing?
  15. They probably forgot - should have called to remind them. They were short on DBs and backup DBs often play on special teams.
  16. Do you think that they failed to check the internet draft rankings and foolishly used their own?
  17. I agree, at this point it is better to go after a player who has a shot to help your team at any position regardless of need.
  18. Perhaps the play was designed as a roll out to throw to the receiver in the flat and he improvised that throw when he saw the guy open deep. We don't know. Are you saying that Wyoming had great mismatches due to their talent?
  19. I’ll jump to Kelsay’s defense - he was high motor and a much better player than he got credit for.
  20. Mike Lodish was actually pretty good. I wouldn’t say equal to Kyle Williams, but I remember him as a good player.
  21. But, if your one of the teams that didn’t, he would have to be tempting now
  22. I thought he was medically cleared? I guess that doesn’t mean some teams might take him off their board.
