Go on record about.... the Tyrod trade!
NoSaint replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only question mark is who the vet is. i like it with a cheap one, but not with bradford, McCarron or Keenum for more money than Tyrod was PLUS the dead money. the trade in a vacuum is fine though. -
When healthy he’s an excellent tackle and there aren’t many options out there right now. We got good value but hopefully we find someone to protect this rookie qb. I think it’s a fair trade and I’m by no means upset but there’s some risk that many aren’t acknowledging. Dawkins-incognito is good enough this year but is groy-vlad-???? going to work?

I have to think there’s some evidence here, but who knows. We will see with time. No need to rush to judgment -
Could Hughes be next? $10.4 mil cap
NoSaint replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ritchie, Clay, Hughes and McCoy are pretty much all that’s left of Whaley free agency shaq is basically the last day one or two pick by the bills that predates last year’s draft, right? its quite the turnover We are only paying him 1.3 and 1.8m the next two years. It’s pretty darn cheap. -
To be fair that’s more you being out of line than Beane performing miracles

3rd Teir Bridge QB do u prefer

Even if you knew it meant trading to the top 5 to draft the starter? -
Sooooo if the owners, or perhaps some new leaders in the organization (as we’ve had a ton added this last year) were sitting down watching tonight and walk into the stadium tomorrow and it really smacks them in the face and they decide to act... There’s something wrong with that? id agree that the interview wasn’t the thing that should be the red line that can’t be crossed but I’m not buying that they’ve put themselves into any corner by not moving sooner. It should’ve been handled previously but that doesn’t mean you can’t now. And doing it now doesn’t make the whole wall a sham.

Seems it might be ok in the parking lot, but crosses the line if on the turf. Not sure if that changes based on day of week or whether it’s the sideline vs field of play I get not wanting things to be crazy slippery slopes but sometimes the answer is just easy and obvious and you don’t really need to worry about implications. Guy that ran real fast having his name painted on a wall and it getting painted over because he killed his wife and another guy seems like it’s easy and obvious enough. We can save real debate for another day, right? Right? No? Jeeeeze.

Recontextualize it- that was big in the 60 minutes piece on confederate statues that ran at the same time. Definite possibility here.
-
I think this conversation gets especially muddied with the confederate statues issues going on... Ive noticed some tone shift in the “keep him up” crowd the last few years, and more of the erasing history sneaking in alongside “its only football in a vacuum and you can’t look at anything else.” I suspect there’s a real worry of give an inch and they take a mile for some on that side of the argument... i would be genuinely curious about what would happen if in tonight’s interview oj said “oh I hated buffalo- that place was the worst.” As hypotheticals go I think that would’ve lost him more defenders than his actual “hypothetical”
-
He certainly wants to and 99.999999% will stay in New Orleans. There are few destinations where the team he goes to wouldn’t instantly be a contender though. If he signed here — between free agency and 6 early draft picks add 2 WRs a couple front 7 defenders and a little depth and we are instantly a super bowl favorite.
-
Its an arbitrary wall about contributions to the team. It can extend to administrative positions. At some point OJ has crossed the line where the attention he has brought the team outweighs being real fast. That doesn’t mean he’s no longer a part of our history but that he’s no longer one of the top handful of guys that exemplify the best of the bills organization.
-
His easy out is simply saying that he poorly argued that his criteria is solely football character and not character as a whole. Which, so be it.... but I think as fans we should expect more from the team than having this guy on the wall tomorrow. I won’t lose a wink of sleep making that judgement.
-
So if we found out he liked to party too hard on Saturday night and played some games seriously hungover and not giving the team 100% does it change his greatness?
-
But nothing about weo’s hypothetical changed a single yard gained or td scored on his on field resume. It would be the same the day before and the day after that news came out. Would he suddenly not be one of our top 3 most talented/accomplished players? So morality sneaks in there somewhere.
-
I get that you aren’t strongly advocating here- and are just discussing... but there are fans that do strongly advocate for keeping him up. Taking him down isnt pretending he didnt exist. It’s saying we aren’t going to honor him. Very different things.
-
Oh, you don’t say? Again, I don’t care. Truly, i can’t fathom why fans grasp at this argument. Do you lose something by taking him down?
-
Essentially, I think this should/could be akin to the ray rice elevator video for the buffalo community. it shouldn’t take that but... sometimes it makes it real. It makes it much harder to point at the highlight reel when you have this to watch too. It gets real damn hard to say “yea he probably did it but wasn’t convicted” when you watch the man describe grabbing the knife on tv
-
To be fair, my stance hasn’t changed in quite some time. i could kind of buy the not guilty verdict keeping him up there but once he started in on the “hypothetical” stuff i no longer buy the devils advocate argument. Even if you hang your hat on the “he wasn’t convicted” argument he sure as hell is doing this interview and wrote that book and deserves to be taken down.
-
If the team wants to use them to represent the greatest bills- so be it. Wouldn’t be my choice but I wouldn’t be embarrassed seeing great men that are marginal players. Seeing a great player up there that is the same guy on tv talking about killing his wife— I’m down with that being a disqualifier for the football honor of being on the wall
-
And he should be off it for non football reason.
-
Frankly, I hope this is what finally gets him off the wall. This is terrible. It blows my mind we even have debate about it.
-
No, the saints would certainly like to keep his past signing bonus amortization kicked into future years. If this stretches they get a huge cap hit that they can’t alter AND whatever the new contract is... the issue is drew plays hard ball (nothing wrong with that but he knews he has the leverage with the clock ticking)
-
Just preemptively recognizing that we will eventually be discussing quarterbacks here
