  1. Im not sure how you can tell a guy what he means to say. Especially when he uses an example of several guys that are better than Tyrod. ignoring that - it’s a basic draft principal if targeting needs. You group guys into tiers and get the last guy in the tier that’s on the board before the cliff and next ledge. Taking the first guy in the tier - worst value. Taking the last - best value. as with any pick, you have to generally have your evaluations right for the premise to hold.
  2. While you get there’s a bigger picture, you are neglecting that Darby is dirt cheap for multiple years which helps his value quite a bit.
  3. I enjoy that you find roger goodwill consistent. Or think that roger is unaffected by video going public ::ahem::WeAllKnewRayRiceKnockedHerOutCold::Cough:: Or know what cyrus brought to the league office - could he have had a prescription for something that went wrong? im not arguing he will or should but if he got hit with a game I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised.
  4. You don’t need to be charged — it may end up on zay to prove why he shouldn’t see some punishment for being arrested naked, while vandalizing and disturbing the peace. Wont be serious but won’t be shocked by a game
  5. I prefer to add a known quantity and to let reilly surprise than to count on reilly
  6. He also only had 4 tds, and had 4 turnovers. He had had a pretty good Game vs the jags but was pretty meh otherwise. He had a couple games after that were better than any pre-hit. I think theres a fundamental flaw in the sampling being small pre hit that year and him simply being a mediocre qb that occasionally would have decent days.
  7. I’d venture his drops are a much bigger issue than this going forward
  8. Do you define it the same as me? What about as ed hochuli? Are refs using the porn vs art standard of “you know it when you see it”?
  9. Picture a guy standing. Ball hits his hands and he gets drilled. Ball comes out. How do you define possession?
  10. Lets remember this when some guy going to the ground loses a ball and it’s called a catch still and upsets everyone. In reality it’s a really tough sequence to govern using a couple bullet points. Either you end up making it complex or you give refs a ton of leeway— neither loved by fans
  11. In that it involves some sleep, hydration and putting up with jokes- yea I would think a bad hit is probably preferable to serious psych issues.
  12. Yup. If 22 and a multimillionaire in LA with a few months off work (sure basic workouts but nothing crazy) — I might’ve gone to battle for Jesus accidentally. Without knowing any substantive history there’s a pretty good shot that he’s just a regular ol schmuck that tried something that didn’t agree with him. Unless we know a history of a guy being off i tend to assume he just got offered a little fun and figured “meh what’s the worst that could happen...” And, well, zay, your butt is on TMZ screaming bout Jesus. So let’s do better weighing possible outcomes next time. if he does have true demons I obviously wish him the best still. Just not a lot of evidence of that yet,
  13. They defended him pretty well before too. They just really nailed it after.
  14. Or he was on a bad trip with something that lots of people have tried recreationally. It’s sometimes hard to tell if these guys need help or just to be embarrassed so they don’t dabble again
  15. He was 10-20 for 97 yards and an interception Even his 4 td game in his first year he was 11-23 for 165 yards he was objectively not good that year. If you extrapolate out his stats he would’ve been sub 3000 yards with like 12 tds and 14 ints with a robust 56% and 6.1 ypa for efficiency stats
  16. I think declaring either of our guys second tier is pretty optimistic at this point.
  17. The concussion was major - didn’t he also have an issue with a football related injury where he could’ve had major (life threatening?) side effects? I can’t blame him for being timid. thing was he was never THAT good of a qb for us. Decent, especially as a mid round pick. But even in that concussion season he only had one game over 65% before the hit, and hadn’t thrown for 2 tds in a game yet that season. Through 4 games he had 4 tds and 4 turnovers. The year prior he started 9 games and finished with 7 tds and 8 picks. 4 of those 7 tds in a single game. And overall sub-60% completions. People act like he was a hall of famer in the making but I think he was just a marginal talent that the league caught up to (sure maybe he was a bit more timid after the hit- but I think the downward trend would’ve come regardless)
  18. Bingo. quite frankly, we cut, let walk or traded every 1, 2 and most 3s in pretty much a single offseason and survived. and it’s not like our roster is so disheveled that no rookie could ever survive. the risk is terribly overstated by many and rewards would be priceless. Play the game and minimize the cost but ultimately— go get your guy.
  19. But... ummm... why not post the rankings you created if insisting on starting the new thread instead of using the existing thread you posted in?
  20. Wait, you made a post on this topic in another thread then started a new thread and didn’t even include that posts content? is this one of those parody threads?!?
  21. Yea, shocking that you walk into an established community and tell them to find somewhere else to go and it gets push back. Im all for new folks and the board evolving... but if you are walking into a country bar and hitting the jukebox with techno and telling off the folks that have been there for 20 years... yea, it might be a “you issue” and not the bars fault. That’s not a private club, that’s just being respectful of communities that you are newly entering. not a terribly big deal- the guys that pull that tend to flame out pretty quickly.
  22. Last year we had two more players with pro bowls on the depth chart and still traded up to add dawkins. Based on the losses of glenn and wood, and comparing adding a guy like bodine to ducasse and Dawkins... I have a hard time buying either part of your argument
  23. One might argue that the new guy that wants change should be the one starting his own board, not the dozens of guys that started this board and have been coming for years (decades for the originals) I always liken it to walking into the neighborhood bar — do you respect the regulars or tell them to get out if they don’t like you?
  24. I think there’s a lot more that needs to come into play here for a real discussion. We are talking a decrease of less than 16 inches and starting at 2012 is like a 9 inch gap. Obviously methodology needs explanation... but also things like how the spread on distance actually breaks down by ranges before making assessments. Agreed but at, say, 35-ish passes a game... where those 15 air yards went can be as subtle as 1 screen pass instead of a throw at the in the mid range for instance. Or using the one year shorter window it’s like 9 yards a game different in the air. Which effects outcomes but is it a drastic change in the structure of Nfl offenses?
  25. It wouldn’t be my first choice but I think any outsider likely sees a 30 year old feature back with a ton of carries.
