  1. AND all that cap space. So ultimately the pick would come with a player being signed next year. anything day 2 I take in a heartbeat. Early day 3 I think harder on but I think a 4 I make the move. It’s less than 3 months of McCoy on the roster. A day 3 and a player is also a nice option. To be fair, just mccoy isn’t making a big difference to allen. Either give him tools now or get resources to do it later. But what’s happening now hardly seems productive.
  2. At that point the cap space is bigger than the pick
  3. Mid venture odds are against him. But at least he has a chance. That’s huge and much more than most. But if he hard pressed to say he’s more likely than not to pan out
  4. They had over 40m in dead money that season and folks on here were crucifying drew for having a contract where his cap hit was $5m over the norm for a year after nearly a decade of team friendly numbers was great being in the dome tonight Honestly, they should’ve pulled everyone earlier. I hated seeing kamara and Thomas get touches that late. With drew it was just a matter of getting to the first natural break to pull him but you could’ve protected some guys that have been carrying heavy loads quite a bit earlier i guess the theory was slow reliable first downs are better than your d facing a hurry up offense
  5. For someone telling others to calm down... well... yea...
  6. Cam can be very accurate. Cam gets lazy and often tries to get away with things because he has the rocket arm. He loves those deep balls across the field off his back foot for instance. While they have some commonality- I don’t think it’s apples to apples in the cause of the accuracy inconsistencies
  7. Nice game for Vanderesch. Made a few plays. He was a popular one here back in April but I hadn’t seen him play much even in college
  8. Hell of a play but protect that ball Hopkins
  9. It’s been an excellent game, so I can’t complain
  10. Clowney is a freak athlete. But we knew that.
  11. Hes the type of guy that even if not stellar, fans will love. im not sure if yolo would’ve chalked me up as a hater or not... I would’ve preferred a young back under the assumption this is shadys final year. Additionally, if he sprains an ankle I do not think ivory can be a workhorse for 4-6 weeks. But in a limited rotational role, I’ve always loved watching the dude run.
  12. Yea, he’s always been a tank. Age is the question mark with the signing, and that’s always tough to predict with a running back... but no ones ever questioned ivory’s ability and desire to truck a defender.
  13. However, this game could be the difference between the 4th and 9th pick in the draft, and if you don’t catch that in real time.... well... how do you even call yourself a fan.
  14. Nothing wrong, really. I think the sentiment you are getting is similar to if you came to us looking for where to get some wings on your Mexican vacation. If you are so addicted you can’t live without them, you do you... but to go out of your way to spend a chunk of your day listening to a 1-3 team that’s had its doors blown off 3 times instead of making the most of your opportunity to do something special seems silly to most. You’ll only get so much listening to the game that you can’t get from checking the box score and reading a few threads here once you are back home.
  15. I know I know, you let your wishes be known but this isn’t a great team in an important matchup. Don’t pass on vacation to watch.
  16. Which, again, is not a huge accomplishment and if they gutted the roster in a way no other regime did and then mess it up... could be the worst. Or they nail it and are the best. Verdicts out still but it’s not crazy to say it’s possible
  17. My line of the thought is that if you are in a dysfunctional situation long term, you are likely part of the dysfunction too, right? in Whaley’s case- he was in the organization long term so when he was promoted I see 3 takes: 1) he thought it was ok, which isn’t ok. 2) he thought it was not ok and thought he could effect change to secure control over very basic job duties and failed- which he has some ownership over. 3) he thought it was improper but didn’t try to change it- obviously also bad from an executive leader. at some level, part of his job is being able to maintain the power and leadership to effectively manage the team, and for whatever reasons he could not accomplish that.
  18. It was a weird power structure. Whaley carries some blame though. That said, given that he wasn’t selecting coaches he sure as hell stocked a lot of talent on the 53 for the number of scheme switches he dealt with.
  19. Flip side- better believe in them after 2 years to give them such an important offseason. Can’t be a total write off year this year, though pains are obviously expected
  20. Nothing about his departure indicated to me that he’d be eager to return for a demotion
  21. The worst part is we knew them both well before acquiring and it’s been distractions and questionable effort
  22. I think because we don’t have a great point of reference, it’s hard to grasp how terrible it is. for instance, 28 players have 14 or more receiving first downs right now
  23. A solid corner with a 2 year 1.8m contract is legit the type of things dreams should be made of for an nfl team. Instead, we almost paid Gaines/vontae a combined 2 year 6.8m toss that $5m at a line upgrade, and the dareus/Starr savings at a WR (which also would’ve avoided the Coleman dead money) the ripples are always interesting to contemplate
  24. Heck, Sammy would still be in his option year, just like benjamin. So a little more there as Sammy was top 10 in the draft, but dareus instead of starr would’ve saved substantially. We would have more cap space I believe, without a formal double check. Don’t make the Sammy trade, and you likely don’t do the Darby trade - which again gives us a better player and cheap. Wed be down a 2nd round pick overall but have more cap and more talent. Could use a different pick for the allen trade and spend the cap space on a good vet to replace the missing draft pick (or have picked mahomes) I accept there are differing opinions on some of these guys but this narrative floating around that there was absolutely no option for beane to run a different course irks me. Bright side: I think we might’ve given him a big free agent deal if we didn’t trade for him. He easily could’ve been a FA target next year but I think we let him walk now
  25. Right, I get that but if we dump the savings straight into the cheaper option- suddenly the cap hit is the same as keeping dareus and frankly even if he’s a pain to manage he’s better than the $3m guy even on his worst days and comes with upside. we decided rather than managing the situation, to simultaneously shed talent and increase spending. Dareus better have been openly mocking coaches in meetings for that to be the answer.
