  1. I think it signifies that Allen is an entrenched starter going into next year, and Barkley’s a fine enough backup that gets along with everyone.
  2. I’m not anti the move or anything.... just surprised by the reactions. He’s a fine enough backup qb. I just like to leave some room to get even more excited about guys that will hopefully take a snap.
  3. By half you mean about 25% at each end of the spectrum?
  4. Barkleys is a relatively interchangeable backup qb. If he counts as huge I’m not sure what’s minor
  5. Ha! Sorry? Thought it a reasonable tax discussion. Not like kirbs going to get some crazy bill
  6. Define “huge”
  7. To be fair, if you think you are a better team- steady and competent isn’t as scary as explosive and unpredictable. one of my favorite (and least favorite) stats was our record with Scott chandler having “big games.” We weren’t good because he wasn’t putting up big plays. Easy to contain volume stats are fine if you are confident you are going to score. If I were gameplanning again allen I’d say make him throw a ton of short/intermediate passes. Bills might still win but if he’s running and gunning a volatile outcome of buffalo upsetting seems more likely
  8. Nor can it signal that going for it is a bad choice.
  9. Any good businessman realizes that 3rd strong nfl qb is waaaaay better business than intern at some random company
  10. Itll still be rather friendly. But not $200 a year. Kirb will get the first $75k in value tax free with the homestead exemption but we’re talking like $2k not $200 (real bar-napkin is pull the $75k if you get the exemption then it’s 1% ish) the table he was referencing reflected a $15k valuation
  11. Frankly I hope he figures out what he’s passionate about and get as many chances as he needs to get it right. What do I really have to gain for hating on the dude? Lord knows someone could’ve judged me along the way and I wouldn’t have looked good at times
  12. Its entirely possible. He’s got all the upside, he just has never put it together long term. I’m still skeptical that the light suddenly came on and he instantly learned how to track a ball after years. Odds are he will come with highs and lows.
  13. Part of me would enjoy the gamesmanship of no limits on players but you have to stay under the cap and pay everyone at least league minimum. would you sign 6 specialists or 1 solid role player?
  14. That certainly won’t be his tax situation after it gets revalued in the system from vacant lot in sketchy area to new house in up and coming area
  15. Or something else related to reinstatement (missed test? Missed mandatory counseling? I don’t know his terms- not that it matters much in “you have a handful of things to do and didn’t do it”)
  16. Ah yea, comps- I always forget to add those in! But yea, point generally remains, little given and some gotten. If you take out the “told you so” factor it’s a pretty reasonable move even knowing the outcome. if they had other better options, I’m not sure I saw them and we were as WR hungry as it gets.
  17. And based on joshs flashes I’m optimistic but it’s early. That’s all we are debating here. He has done some good things. Some guys really step up, others fade back a bit after rookie seasons.
  18. Another thing I’m curious about - which matters little but I get curious about these situations.... violating terms of his reinstatement and another positive test may be the same thing but may be a number of others. What terms did he have?
  19. Go back to the offseason John, you were pretty darn optimistic on the group. We’ve done this before, we don’t have to do it again.
  20. The point is we jump on any glimmer of shine as striking gold. Maybe it is, often it’s not. Come on John, you said we had a good group of wrs this year based on those glimmers. That hes done it is nice- but it’s still a long way to go. One would hope that our top 10 qb pick could physically throw short routes sometimes, it’s the week in and week out in meaningful games that he will have to prove. It’s not insulting to say he’s on track but still a ways to the finish line.
  21. Thinking out loud I just edited that it’s trading a bottom 5th for top of 7th.... so 35-40ish draft slots on day 3? It’s possible they still get the exact guy they end up targeting AND got a starting WR for half a season on a contract for peanuts. Again, even in this worst case, was it really a loss for them? Erase all the upside and it’s not a terrible deal.
  22. Awfully small sample size, eh? Encouraging but would you argue he’s a seasoned guy in that regard already or that it’s a point of growth that he’s shown flashes of?
  23. I’d argue were we really better off rolling with benjamin? He’s gone too and cost a heck of a lot more. Or Coleman. Or kerley. to move down 35-45 spots on day 3, id still say was fine with hindsight and missing the potential upside
  24. They used him while he was there and will move on when he’s not. That they will have to settle moving forward was better than settling all year. It’s no different to them than if he popped an ACL.
  25. On some level we simply don’t have the skill to churn out 15 play drives for points and need to get chunk yardage to score. Part of that is the rest of the team but I suspect part of that is Josh not being the accurate touch and timing short game passer (yet?)
