  1. Theyve used Bush, sproles etc... their rb2 is typically shifty and gets the ball in space. Like a punt return. For better or worse, but it hasn’t bit them tooooo badly yet. That last angle looked no catch... that said im not sure how it wasn’t PI but we’ve seen two flags on the saints. Not saying saints calls were bad, just seemed inconsistent
  2. Looked like a catch to me. might be hard to overturn though
  3. Even if you called him 11-14 on the day... I’ll say I had similar sentiments after tyrods big day against miami(?) where he was like 11-12 with a couple long balls. its simply not enough passing success to be an ok normal and it’s a small enough sample that it can’t be extrapolated to anything meaningful. he didn’t lose the game with his passing and found a way to win it with legs, defense, and playing bortles. You take it happily from a rookie but it can’t be the regular or something celebrated toooo much is all
  4. I didn’t argue he was inaccurate but that he completed 4 passes in 45 minutes of game clock in a pass happy Nfl. Thats a concern. Any which way it gets dressed up. He overcame it but it’s a problem that had to be overcome. Coupled with only 8 catches and one being a 75 yarder... unless you think that’ll be a regular ratio, or somehow representative of normal play it’s pretty tough to lean on a YPC stat like that.
  5. Unfortunately it’s just 8 completions. That’s not near enough of a sample to throw around YPC. He did some things very well, and had a solid Q1 passing.... but had to cover for the fact that he only completed 4 passes after the first quarter. Running is a great perk that helped makeup for the lack of passing success most of the game. Hopefully progress shows those rushing attempts turning into catches for someone as weeks go by...
  6. I’ll agree that he’s much better than I expected.
  7. I get it but if we only add 1 starter with zay... we are stuck with he and deonte as 3 and 4? And that’s assuming the starter we add actually works out (rookies don’t always) Not adding multiple guys is how you end up where we are today and potentially forcing him into an every down role.
  8. Its who he was in college too though. Unless you show me that he got a new set of contacts with an updated prescription or something - he’s just inconsistent. He dropped a few then he caught a few. It wasn’t like he was going to drop everything all season.
  9. He certainly could someday become a player - but a month on the practice squad didn’t make him a different guy than he has been the previous 4.5 years. Your best shot is to ease him in with packages and limited pressure as a 4-5 guy next year and hope he grows into a 2-3 the year after. We still need to add two guys around zay that should be considered starting caliber immediately. Foster can’t be 1 ACL injury to a starter at camp away from being an every down player all season.
  10. You absolutely don’t plan your receiving Corp around foster hanging onto 3-4 catches in a row.... you take the best player available and Foster gets to slowly develop as a spot player hopefully.
  11. Or guaranteed dollars. Honestly, he’s a fine enough pickup in a risk/reward sense at this point... just a matter of how much you are willing to stretch morally. But the short of it is: why does quiet protest of law enforcement move the needle so much more drastically than spousal abuse (etc) with regards to fan dollars?
  12. Yea but Jackson was a clear cut 5. He wasn’t neck and neck with 3 other guys. he also opted not to run - which is very different than running less than his best on purpose. if allen decided to run less than his best because Jackson’s mom had him sit out - it’s be a bit concerning with regard to his judgement
  13. I’ll even buy that he got in his own head somehow but find it incredibly improbable that he intentionally blew the 40 putting up a lesser measurable intentionally
  14. I meant generally that he was the best piece of clay. Which adding a 4.4 forty instead of 4.7 would’ve majorly underscored he was drafted for freak show potential compared to the other 3 more polished guys. You really don’t think adding a great 40 to the best arm would’ve made him a more premium prospect?
  15. Why do you suppose the guy leaning most heavily on his athleticism in the draft not actually trying?
  16. So the length of the drive and quality of the hit effect your take? What if it’s the first play of the drive and a huge defensive play? You suddenly feel differently about who earned possession compared to a player being reckless?
  17. Wouldnt creating a fumble be a great defensive play, and frankly more worthy of earning possession than a player that doesn’t show care for the ball?
  18. I mean, I’d say that the comment about not really beating them with his arm is more right than wrong. Still beat them though.
  19. Essentially the rule rule boils down to the idea that pushing the ball across the goal line comes with both great reward (and benefits like the play instantly stopping with offensive possession in the end zone) but also a corresponding risk. If you secure the ball in the end zone it’s an instant touchdown but if you lose the ball you assume responsibility go secure it or face a likewise strong penalty. The penalty itself follows basic corresponding situatuations. The nfl likes the consistent application of impetus here. While a 5-10 yard penalty and maintaining possession may make more sense on a quick casual level, I do understand the thought process behind where the actual rule comes from.
  20. Unless you change the rule to generally not allowing an offense to advance fumbles and they get the ball at the spot of the fumble anywhere on the field there’s going to be an inconsistency compared to what happens with a fumble at the 1. As is, “the ball goes out of the end zone is treated like a touchback” isn’t insane levels of strange
  21. I’d disagree that they did NOTHING to get the ball. honestly, the rule is quirky but I don’t mind it
  22. And being third down about to go up 2 scores that late in the game.... whyyyyy would you run him at a stout defense by design?!? Gotta protect the guy there.
  23. He only completed 4(?) passes after the first quarter. Even with gifting him drops and penalties you are looking at 6? 7? completions in 3 quarters. He will definitely have to step up but you take wins how you can get them with a young guy and he got it
  24. Yup - baby steps. And why I want to stress not bashing him- ultimately another win which is big. Not losing games, and hanging tough all day is the first step to becoming a guy that wins games for a team.
