  1. I remember 2 years ago being 7-8 and this board being Overwhelmingly in unison that the team was underachieving because of bad coaching and could probably use an upgrade at qb. suddenly the narrative is the whole roster was overpaid and terrible and McDermott had one of the tallest tasks imaginable
  2. Even if he flops, there’s literally no downside for them is the thing that bugs me most. What’s the gap in talent from pick 172 to 217 (or whatever they end up)? That and a league minimum contract are the cost. At that price and return, we’d have won the trade handily.
  3. 4 years ago he put up 1600+ yards in 14 games. heck, last year he put up 336 yards in 5 games at 18.6 yards per catch. Zay is currently our only wr pacing ahead of that for a 16 game season. Is benjamin our only WR that’s done anything in the last 5 years? You wouldn’t swap a 5 for a 7 to get this guy for $690k
  4. Everyone spends to the cap. It’s not just for making a push. There’s a requirement of spending a rolling average of 90-ish percent. We chose to cut bait with 90% of the young core including young guys on rookie deals and second contract guys with big dead money. Now we are old and broke. It was a choice. You might agree or disagree with the strategy but it was not forced on anyone but the fans.
  5. Heck I even expect some up and downs, not just weekly improvement but hopefully a general trend up
  6. Last year I said the rams were who we hoped to be in 2 years. One might say handing those picks/$$ to a young innovative and offensive minded head coach that can use both allen and Edmonds/Tre would be a real possibility for how to take the next steps without abandoning course
  7. Lord help us if this is starting fast and gets worse ? way to go out on a limb that it’ll be better at some point
  8. Right. Sooooooo in discussions of Brandon beanes pro personnel acquisitions how would you rate those moves? id rate them not actually his.
  9. Then he does have a fair list of questions to follow I suspect
  10. I’m not sure how much of the last 12-18 months qualifies as standard issue in the nfl. Any individual decision is generally fine but when you lay down the totality there’s certainly some rarity to the full picture
  11. I guess? And the benjamin trade and any later offseason acquisitions last year
  12. They certainly will recoup some
  13. Other than “terry couldn’t hire the right people” is there a reason? He could’ve sat behind Tyrod a full year, been paired with a coach like McVay. I know there’s some MMQB in there but why couldn’t buffalo be a spot where a young qb gets what he needs?
  14. Why is it a given that we had to cut dareus and sign star, for instance? Or had to trade Glenn? Coleman was self inflicted, and had we done the vet qb and rookie thing last year we wouldn’t have been in the spot of signing McCarron. Again, just because this regime made incredibly bold moves to shed players doesn’t mean the moves were required or even right. How they then allocated resources was questionable too.
  15. What if we hired some of those offensive guru types, paired him with a GM with a competent set up right from the start and spent money and picks on offense instead of eating the dareus hit and then signing star and using all those picks to trade up (not to mention trading for Benjamin). Part of firing Rex was that we had a good young core that was underachieving. It’s not like McDermott inherited a dumpster fire.
  16. if only there were other decisions we could discuss. Alas, this staff has had their hands tied and the situation forced on them. It’s not like they’ve been one of the most active in the league in turning over the roster.
  17. Why didn’t we get one of those qb gurus then?
  18. True story. It’s his day to day look too. Not just a joke for the cameras. That’s why he’s been in the zone, chief. Jager bomb.
  19. Right. Because we actively created a much tougher situation for our guy is my point. If we look at the blank slate of the two teams last year last year we could’ve put mahomes in a very positive situation. Instead we targeted a defensive coach, jettisoned a ton of talent, took a major project and left him in a spot where he has to start early without a supporting cast. My point int has nothing to do with mahomes vs allen and everything to do with the way the organizations approached the situations
  20. Orton said “hey be right back” and then left the building without telling anyone and never came back. Whatever he did, it was noteworthy.
  21. What would he have done here last year? sat behind Tyrod. its a touch odd that if down for a project we didn’t start it last year. But we could’ve hired great nfl coaches, let him sit, and given him great weapons here too. No? We may still work out better but can’t say we couldn’t have done the same
  22. The question was answered pretty definitively and was unlikely to see more info. Dude was uninjured and pulled himself. That’s more than I expected to gather. I’d expect him on an exempt list of some variety tomorrow
  23. It’s the big question mark. He essentially did all you could ask today. Now comes the hard part: getting better more weeks than not
