Bills-Colts condensed - take two. Not a journalist. :)

Id be shocked if not against the TOS honestly, as you likely don’t have rights to distro the video. With the NFLs strict policies I’m half surprised you haven’t gotten a cease and desist for the site. -
Weve had dozens, more likely hundreds, of posts about how we urgently needed to get a great center because of their coordinating of the line. Im not saying it right or wrong but it is amusing anecdotally how much we talk about things that often end up completely meaningless in the actual team

The improvement of this roster is incredible.

Thats what creating 50m in dead money will do to a season. -
I don’t know where his head is at this very moment but I’d take his 11,000 yards and 74 touchdowns even knowing he’d cause some head scratching moments along the way. If hes he’s looking for reasons to retire, such is life, but he’s had a hell of a lot of reasons for a team to put up with the headaches

The wheels would have to come off in spectacular fashion not to make the roster this year -

Hes also not been great in game situations outside of his brief run last year. Even in college his track record wasn’t great. this will be a real crossroads year for him. He’s got the talent but can he show up day in and day out for the full year? If he does he can be an Antonio brown story (in the good way). If not, he could be back on the street quicker than anyone imagines. I’m optimistic but certainly not betting my house on his success either. -
Growing up with a father as a coach, and marrying a coach... her expectations are probably waaaaay different than anyone here. for him... he might like just having a wife that he knows “has it” and he can be engaged for guys who don’t have that. if things stop working and she’s terribly unhappy and the kids are miserable it’s a different story but if his family is functioning well... more power to them. Ha! I mean, somewhere along the way I picked up not to sweat what makes other people happy. Takes all kinds and they aren’t all going to make sense to me. Unless they are doing someone wrong, go nuts with it. I admittedly cringed quite a bit reading he texts her to order him Uber eats ?

Shady's combined yards from scrimmage in 2019...predictions?
NoSaint replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I definitely agree with stocking the cupboard for Allen. You’ll note that I’m only making this point with the condition that many seem to think shady has taken a step back and the first two options to spend the money were swapping a pick for a proven starter at RT or TE. If anything I might be more all in with supporting Allen than even you in this hypothetical. if someone thinks he’s a 1250 yard guy, and gores totally done... you keep McCoy. But as an 800 yard guy with extremely limited touches because we have great depth? Nope. That can’t be the plan/expectation. -

Ironically, I’m one of the loudest “spend the money” guys on the entire board. So swing and miss there. You cant pay a RB top 5 starter money for multiple years to get bottom 5 starter stats. I’m not sure whether he’s that guy but many in this thread are predicting it as an ok outcome. I’d be glad to look at a trade at TE (brate, Rudolph?), maybe contribute towards a Trent Williams deal. Or who knows who shakes loose the next few weeks. Would you be upset to add a solid vet depth linebacker and look hard at pass catchers? We should be willing to overspend for guys. We should not be overspending on shady unless he can differentiate himself from the 3 other backs. Frankly, it is a cash issue in that you don’t pay a guy to be a top 5 running back unless you think he’s at least top half of the league or you are crippled by lack of depth. -

If you think he’s that player I’m all for paying him but many of these predictions are rather replaceable. If you think he’s an 800 yard guy that’s losing carries to gore, singletary and yeldon he’s got to go and you spend that cash on upgrading something else. -
Ultimately, everyone’s different and if it works for their relationship, it’s hard for me to judge. Plenty of couples out there do things that would never work for me. its entirely possible he’s a caring guy and his wife’s just not into having a real partner. Sometimes the right people find each other.

I don’t know if 1500 is the magic number but all these sub 1000 predictions sure sound like endorsements to not just trade him but cut him if we don’t receive offers. and I don’t think most realize that. 1000 yards from scrimmage at a glance appears to be 24th among running backs last year. we can’t have that be the “up” year for a guy that’s top 5 compensation at his position. That should be the minimum expectation, not a reasonable aspiration, for a guy in his pay grade -

Thats terribly pessimistic for a guy top 5 in cash paid and top 3 in cap hit this year. That the expectations are so low speaks volumes -
What if Matt Barkley gets hurt?
NoSaint replied to mushypeaches's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meh. Jackson isn’t anything. Im not stressed over QB3 but it probably wouldn’t be bad to have one more semi-viable arm in camp in case you need to cover a game or two on short notice. The classic speed dial guy that can get you 20 plays instead of 10 on a weeks notice. im sure 1-2 guys out there have abbreviated playbooks though. -
Its probably just a auto generated email for any new signing. It seems logical the company would input every contract and not try to sort out real vs token gestures.
-
Their upcoming cap situation gets tricky. Likely a combo of health and cost. Hard to let someone else walk for a high risk guy. Though I suppose tyreeks pretty high risk in his own way
-
It might’ve been you that made that original. Would this be the wrong thread to make to make a traumatic brain injury joke?
-
I thought we had one like 8 pages ago
-
No- we just got side tracked into a hypothetical “how does this work” debate. I don’t think anyone is counting this as the end of the line- though of players on the roster, he’s about as high risk for that discussion as it gets, unfortunately
-
As others mention, we have no idea the terms of the EW settlement. Unless there was some factor that would put him at risk of receiving injury guarantees, I do believe he essentially put the full amount in his pocket. Because why wouldn’t he take what he was entitled to? again, of my hypothetical 30m guaranteed for injury, how much are you bypassing for a football related injury that ends your career doc? You say some, but really how much are you quibbling over here? Do you think the player is returning a few hundred thousand? Or $5-10m?
-
Tell me doc, and I’ll use bar napkin math here... you play out your rookie deal and sign your first big contract with $30m fully guaranteed. Who knows, maybe 10 times your career earnings to date. You show up to camp and for sake of eliminating ambiguity let’s say that during practice you are paralyzed or have a Teddy B style injury but actually face amputation. There’s no question: you aren’t suiting up again. How much of that $30m that you negotiated to be guaranteed for injury are you giving back to the team?
-
Theres also a reason you rarely rarely hear about them. Tell me this doc- suppose you sign a big contract with a team and immediately are catastrophically injured in the act of performing your job duties and will never play again. Why would you forego your guaranteed dollars you just negotiated and signed to protect you in this very situation? Now if Morse was a fringe roster guy that wanted time to latch on with another team and recoup some money while getting some game tape for his next opportunity, and the bills had no intention of paying him all season - both sides have motivation to negotiate a release in exchange for a little less money than the anticipated amount of riding out an IR stint. To be fair, I’m just arguing that Doc is being silly, not that I think his career is over. though there are big red flags waving and I do think seeing him play 4 years without further head injury would be mostly luck.
-
Which 5 minutes into his contract and being hurt at a team event would be paying him the guaranteed money. Essentially. For practical purposes if he was told it’s all done tomorrow he’d sit on IR this year and get cut next and get all his guarantees.
