  1. Tremaine would be a real problem for a Flutie, as an example
  2. Best way to do 1 is have an effective offense. as much as any player, Manning was a big time part of why the colts Tampa 2 was effective and ours wasn’t. If we can let pass rushers key on the qb, and pull the back 7 out of run support, we have the makings of an excellent group. If the opponent is able to grind on short fields with a lead, it’ll be a long year.
  3. Well that why we are talking much lower rates than most positions
  4. You just know every team will play internationally once with an odd number
  5. To be fair, our cap situation wasn’t that bad, if we didn’t decide to slash and burn without care about the short term. Also, 16m isn’t some crazy cost in relation to the cap and you need a few superstar talents on a team. Does it hurt less when your 16m LT, DT, or CB get hurt? You need stars and depth. In the window of a rookie qb contract it’s a heckuva lot easier to support that. Especially if drafting decent alongside that.
  6. But I can’t underscore enough that it’s not just drew. They are better at RB, WR1, TE, both tackles and a guard before you start getting into tougher calls. In addition to the all time great qb, their other 10 guys tend to be better. It’s a talent league and while we improved greatly there’s still work to be done
  7. New Orleans and New England have all time great qbs. It goes a long way to “just scheming” guys open. Michael Thomas would also be our best WR, Kamara our best back, or cook probably our best tight end. It helps when those role players are very very good.
  8. I can’t say this thread has been the boards finest showing, and surprised to see folks doubling down on it. Oh well, won’t change alberts day... but I like most of y’all and like to think it’s a group that’s better than piling on in a situation like this.
  9. If you find yourself with failing organs you may find yourself humble or desperate enough to hope for help anywhere you can find it.
  10. You need a deep bench at WR, especially without an established QB. You are better if one of those is an elite impact player. Comparing injuries and catch percentage between a guy that’s often getting more targets than the other gets catches and those targets being twice as far down field in heavier coverage is a fools errand though.
  11. Or says he just didn’t want to talk about it with a random reporter at an awards show
  12. Yuuup. I’m surprised it doesn’t get more chatter on the sports shows.
  13. Welcome to 2013. From the future, I’ll tell you to get excited- the internet has a lot in store for you as you catch up
  14. I’ll go out on a limb and say Flutie is LESS suited for today’s nfl. Hes a fine enough player but being a novelty worked to his favor. In a league accustomed to his play his shortcomings would be magnified. Big time agreement here.
  15. To be fair it’s what like 1 maybe 2 guys a year if any? You pick 45 day 3 draft picks out of a hat and you won’t hit too many big either
  16. You have attempts, not yards, highlighted. Didnt ring odd to see all time leaders around 3,500?
  17. Lack of reps has been no ones problem 10 guys filling 6 slots plus a PS spot probably is a pretty thin ratio
  18. One might guess that valuation you are using might have been slightly off. Frankly it’s also nicer for the out of town folks to have options. I’ve been to plenty of sporting events where I’m not trying to lug a cooler and grill but would like to enjoy pre game festivities.
  19. Clocking his throw at 68 mph in loafers and an Oxford seems relevant to another thread here
  20. I have a sneaking suspicion those weren’t $8 articles
  21. I hope Tim thinks twice about the professional and person he aspires to be. past history shows he and I have different expectations though. Hes literally got troll in his name.
  22. Call yards old school, new school, or dumb... but yards tend to be what your hearing when you have an announcer say 8th ranked defense. and points are important. Among a variety of stats. If a defense is facing 3 more drives a game and starting each on average 10 yards closer to the end one - they could easily allow more points and be better. Especially if creating turnovers and short fields for their own offense along the way.
  23. Yards is typically what you see in rankings. No no single metric is great. A team can give up a ton of yards in a bend but don’t break and be effective. likewise an awful offense can leave a team in position to give up a ton of points even in a stingy defense in today’s nfl- a team that allows few passing yards and creates turnovers is phenomenal if you have any semblance of an offense. schwartz came in and the personal better fit his scheme and his scheme better fit our roster but I think it’s a woeful mistake to categorize pettine as closer to wannstedt. That defense was actually solid.
  24. There have been more than a couple games I would have skipped here with torrential rain. There’s little less appealing to me than sitting in a downpour for a few hours
