Honestly, it was just an easy example without rummaging through 31 rosters- not a true call to it being the best spot possible. Even if they get him back for most of this year he’d be high risk to resign so it was an easy throwaway example that everyone would be at least surface level familiar with.

I’d almost say likely, not just possible. Unless the wheels come off one of the old men and you cut him in camp, I’d venture the 4th guy there contributes much more than the 10-11th pass catcher. You find this answer to an interview question to be spouting off? Do you find bellichick to be overly talkative?!? “That’s a blessing,” Yeldon said, via the Buffalo News. “Coming in my first couple years, I didn’t have vets like that. Being here in this situation, I can learn a lot from those guys. It’s a lot for me to take with me in my future years. It’s going to be a heated competition. That’s one thing they told me coming in. There’s going to be competition regardless.”

Fosters still a decent risk and it miiiight be a chance to kick in value at his highest point if you aren’t sure of him. I do think that he’s a much better candidate for a player swap than a draft pick though. Even that’s tough though. Does a team like KC maybe take a shot at him being their deep threat and what type of immediate talent do you have to get back as a GM to risk the possibility of foster exploding there? A lot has to line up to even start the discussion

Going from the nfl to hanging dry wall for a friends business is a redemption story? How bad did he get in between those points?!? Jeeeeze. that said, for a 5th, I’d think long and hard about taking him again, even knowing the wheels come off. Top flight season, paid peanuts and a day 3 pick? He was probably a top 5-10 career in the round.

When did Don Beebe become a Bills legend???
NoSaint replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is 2 catches a game and like 2 tds a year really a big part of an offense that had 4(?) hall of famers including 2 at his position? If he wasn’t a role player, who was?!? Outside of buffalo and the lett family, I’d venture not terribly well known. that play was likely legendary even if he’s not though -
Wait... you are a cfo/it ops director?!? for what, the AAF?

Jordan Reed is a trade suggestion from NFL.com.
NoSaint replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If minuscule compensation, Reed on a 3 year 24m non guaranteed contract doesn’t kill me. ill keep echoing that we are in a spot to take on a few guys that you can’t count on or don’t make sense positionally or... if we take reed reed as a 1yr 7.5m swing with 2 team options to follow... meh. Not the worst use I’ve seen of a late pick. -
Jonah Williams will miss the 2019 season

Those offseason practices are always a balancing act... -
Its a tough situation. I think that the fact that TWO of his sons spent time in prison and even after one died he didn’t step back and take a break worries me about Andy Reid the man. That they did drugs doesn’t terribly concern me but how he handled it and some whispers that floated around did. That man, for better and worse, is a football coach and his best and worst qualities are likely to bleed through. addiction is a tough and extremely complicated thing and I am among the last to look at it as a moral failing by anyone. I think that as a leader of men he has struggled to show that he practices good self care and by proxy often struggles with proper care of others. That may reflect in both his personal and professional life. That’s a very difficult conversation to have off the cuff on the radio though. I’m hoping he stumbled haphazardly into a tough topic and wasn’t just trying to score points. Those are widely different things.

I’m not even sure it was thaaaat oblivious to give it a shot. And I largely give cam a hard time. contrary to this thread, it did not appear to actually be first class that he was speaking with. He was trying to move from row 3-4 of coach to the first row of coach so he’d have the wall in front of him instead of another seat. Not sure what they are swinging on that upgrade that day but I’d venture a lot less than $1500 and if somebody was expensing the ticket they might think twice about putting some crisp bills in their pocket. I’m on the tall side but I’d think twice before turning down (a weeks pay/a free vacation/season tickets/insert appealing alternative of your choice) to give up just the extra knee space. If I paid for first class on my own- obviously that’s a thin proposal to just cover my already incurred expenses and maybe a nice meal on top
-
I get that cam has an assistant. I’m also very well seasoned with travel. Heck, that’s probably why it was a bit nails on the chalkboard-y to read. You may as well be talking to EII about your adventures on the canals of Illinois right now ? Perhaps it’s a regional, or generational or some other thing but from this side it’s reading a bit tone deaf and then assuming I don’t know about either of those things feels like doubling down on it. At its simplest, I’ve just never referred to any of my team as the help, and never will. Ill chalk it it up as a misunderstanding or agree to disagree. No biggie.
-
Obviously he should’ve planned differently if it was absolutely vital. It’s not like he freaked out- dude offered a person in a slightly more spacious seat the change in his pocket, which wasn’t a small sum... Once denied he went back to his seat. I’m not sure the “back of the bus” and “needs to hire better help” attitude is hitting the mark you expect. In a thread about Cam, you are coming off as the pretentious one ?

How much is cole beasly really loving the bills?
NoSaint replied to Lafromboise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can watch their routes without ever seeing the qb or ball, frankly. Brady is an impact but it’s not impossible to look at the guys -
Way to go and “Courtney love” EIi’s most salient post to date...

NoSaint replied to Lafromboise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can compare if you have time and want to. Various things like physical measurables, catch rate on well thrown balls, footwork, so on and so forth are apples to apples even if stat lives aren’t -

I’ll say guys that talk smack about the last team coming in are likely to do the same going out. As for talent... he is a good player but at one of our qbs weak points. If josh takes a big step, he’s a great resource. If not, he could be a sore spot. ‘‘Tis the risk of a pickup like this. Clay never got utilized by Tyrod in our quest to throw between the hashes. Josh isn’t tyrod though. -
Right. but even being below that average conversion rate, one would assume many of those would still be mathematically acceptable decisions. If I gave you 4-1 odds on calling a coin flip, even with a slightly weighted coin you’ll probably make some money. I’d assume the bills are using their own research which I would assume is more personalized and not just using the NYT bot. it also ignores my point that I’m a fan of the underdog taking extra shots. If we are overmatched in talent (and with the dead money we created no other argument can be made)... I kind of prefer hoping they convert 1-2 above average in a game and steal a win here and there even if it means missing them all in another week and a 7 point loss becomes a 14.
-
Im not arguing they were good at this. Just wondering aloud if being bad precludes it from being an ok decision. Would they have fared better punting? And substantially enough so that it outweighs my own preference to at least take a shot if you are a talent deficient team? There’s little I hate more than grinding out 17-13 games on the way to 6-10. At some level I’d rather take the shots and risk a few blowouts in exchange for stealing a few wins. If if we were a loaded team that just couldn’t do it for due to some quantifiable weakness, then I’d be apt to be more conservative...
-
Your take is totally reasonable. Seymour had that eye surgery that was going to be a break through to being a legit starter though too. It’s one of those things where they are all here because they are wildly filled with potential. I’m not saying any of the 18 class are junk, but that it’s so early to judge. We flop this year, fire McD and suddenly they may be scattered around the league and mismatched to scheme here. It can be a delicate road was my point, not hating on any player.

Proehl and mccloud gone Everyone else day 3 as a question mark phillips 3rd in the rotation at best for what may be his whole rookie deal none are bad picks but it wouldn’t take a lot to break badly. Likewise a few could step up big time. Especially with wins at the top. That’s the mystery of it all. We like them right up until we don’t. Hopefully a few hold it off for a long time
