Richie Incognito working out for Raiders (update: Signed)
NoSaint replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Melt downs at funerals worry me less than ones at the gym, for instance. I’m pretty sure he was down to leave the facility with the guys head for spying on him -
I’d be curious the analysis of how strong of a playcall that back corner fade is and how big a difference 5’11 vs 6’2 is when calling it. I suspect that it’s not as high quality a play as various play action and rub route type options and that the actual height only effects a very small number of incredibly tight throws. the other dynamic the last 30 years is how dynamic tight ends have become as big bodied WRs if dying to have that option in a pinch i could be wrong but my gut is that it’s a spot that’s gotten a little mythical in its reputation

It’s always been a phrase that rubbed me funny even when I’ve used it... isn’t a ref deciding not to enforce the rules injecting himself into the outcome of the game just as much

TLdr cliff notes: I have obscure interests and am upset others don’t like them -
What real difference does it make to him at this point? It’s not like he’s suddenly not going to get an nfl job because of it

This is the second post in a row where you seem not happy with being here. All good man? Do we need to coach you on not clicking things that upset you before you even click them?

Ultimately, we’d all love a 6’4 guy that’s 4.4 speed, agile, explosive and soft hands. But if choosing between a mediocre receiver that is decent at jump balls or a relatively complete guy that’s 5’10, give me the better talent even if we have a few others like him. Odds are if we trot 3-4 of the undersized talented guys out there at least 1-2 will have a matchup advantage against a less agile CB that would otherwise be on benjamin
-
Meh. It’s a matchup league and some games that may help, others it will hurt when the opponent has a corner that’s a bit slower but super physical and good at 50-50 balls but would’ve lost to a shiftier wr. Ultimately from what I’ve seen is that max talent put in good positions wins much more than forcing your GM to fill precise roles. you stack talent and slightly look towards matchups in the division for tie breaks like that.

Hes a huuuuuge long shot, but I’m down to have a lottery ticket or 2 in the 90 man roster. For productive discussion around here though, fans need to plan their finances with him as a lottery ticket and not a weekly paycheck though. -
GM Beane Meeting with Premium Seat holders

Year 3 Seattle: 11-5 with 2 point loss in the divisional round, second playoff appearance. Year 1 Nola: 10-6 and lost in nfccg, year 4 super bowl champions My point being that our window is here regardless of if josh is great (as indicated by the many flashes in the pan like San Fran, for instance). If he flames out it won’t be sustained, but if he can carry a team then yes we will be in a constant cycle of immediately refreshing and reloading like those long term successful teams. -

I don’t disagree and have some optimism. Ultimately, if we got the right josh, it cures a lot of ills. We are past the rebuild window now though and the expectation needs to be at least a conference championship game in the next 2 seasons and really a solid playoff season both years. Short of that’s a disappointment. I don’t see many pushing those types of expectations though. -

But an organizational turnaround is.... normal. Incredibly normal for a new hire to bring in their own people and structures. Which is is kind of my point. doing normal GM stuff is getting him labeled genius and fans to some degree making up all kinds of narratives to support it and saying things like he should get years more to keep building. The other day there was debate of a 5 year pass before expecting playoffs. ill also admit that I grow weary of the 2 sided “never spent to the cap” and “needs 2 years to get out of cap hell.” Frankly, he decided to crush an otherwise fine cap situation because of prioritizing 110% buy in over league high dead money. like I said - he’s done some promising things, and flubbed some others. So far a pretty standard issue GM but I think the “unified voice” is carrying a bit too much weight in the evaluation simply because it was such a weakness previously (kind of like after Bledsoe we love mobility, after Trent we needed a gunslinger, etc...) -

Thats 30 years ago though! The thing that worries me is the league has changed drastically. There are few fan bases that would embrace the slow build in an era designed for fast turnarounds. That you are referencing you know good football decisions from seeing a team building effort in the late 80s is indicative of a fan base that is out of touch with good football decisions 3 decades later. Bills fans often seem isolated from the wider league and have just been stuck under the Tom Brady shadow for so long that many haven’t been involved in the norms of how quickly even good teams are churning rosters. I think he has been hot and cold in his decisions, much like any GM - but boy has he NAILED the messaging for Buffalo bills fans. -

While many of your points are fair you have to go back and read this and think that you may be failing to realize some of your own biases, right? The 3rd WR in Dallas resembles Andre reed? and yea, the foster - Allen connection has potential to look like Big Ben to Antonio brown.... or like JP losman to a udfa. Odds are we hit on some of these guys and miss wildly on some. And that’s why I think it’s important to push chips in now when we can and over collect talent still. -
Superdome Renovations $450 Million
NoSaint replied to KellyToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s a single large terminal totally separate from the current in the same general area though. The old is being retired. Pretty accurate summation. The nfl tries to drive down rate on a good portion of the inventory. Those that play still come out ahead of a normal weekend- but while they are getting 3-400 a night, their competing properties can see rates upwards of $1,000. It can be tricky to get enough people into the official bid. Minnesota had a little less challenge given how offseason it is for them but also some major players stepping up to dedicate all their local inventory. It’ll be back to Nola soon enough, they won’t stay away... but new stadium plus very aggressive city bid leapfrogged minny into the rotation -

If you aren’t throwing at the sticks you may as well throw far past the sticks on 3rd -
Alongside the “why did josh go top ten and the UB kid not get drafted” thread, a blind stars comparison amused me

Which One - Fitz, Tyrod, or Barkley as Your Your Backup?

Yup. -
Im not sure. I’d guess most are coached not to move like that, but that several could. Especially vs soft competition itll be interesting to watch. I suspect he will be a bit boom or bust. If the athleticism shortfalls catch up to him it could get ugly fast but his non traditional movements might be key to really breaking out ala a guy like Leveon

Dramatic much? Ill again echo that I think the implication here is that McD had his friend, this guys DC, chirping in his ear about what a great young guy he is and maybe McD likes the character of men of the lord, perhaps even at the expense of a few ticks in the 40 or excusing an arm that’s a little weaker. If this same player was at ASU maybe he doesn’t get the call? I suppose it ends up being a Rorschach test for what you think of things like playing peterman and drafting proehl. i do think late in day 3 they’ve been ok taking risks on guys they like instead of the best football players. It doesn’t bug me much though as you normally see 1-2 starters total in round 6. If they throw a pick at investing in their intel pipeline and having a good personality at camp - go for it. It’s not like he’s truly less likely then anyone else on the board at that point and he will be easy to root for. Hopefully we don’t see him get burned though. ?♂️
