The NFL IS a totally different animal because theres no draft lottery and tanking is guaranteed to get you a higher draft pick. But youre right in that a higher pick doesnt necessarily guarantee you a better pick. I.e. Steeler seem to draft #1 receivers and backs at the bottom of the picks every year
