Good question and thought. I have three brief ideas why Bernard was chosen in round #3. 1. The Bills do not have a lot of linebacking depth and are always (too much in my view) looking for their next special teams and versatile backup. #2. The Bills likely had Bernard as a late 2nd round pick and went with their BPA rather than mixing that in with potentially a higher needed position or defensive fit. #3. As has been said on other lists, the Bills are obsessed with drafting defensive players who overall have not lived up to their pick in the draft. I would go with all three answers. The Bills will likely pay Edmunds. Hopefully they realize whether Bernard takes on a bigger role or not, that anything more than $13million a year for Edmunds is likely not worth it knowing that Edmunds is our 2nd best starting linebacker out of two starting linebackers.

ATTENTION HOMERS: You can still love this team and be critical
Wizard replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bengals are a difficult matchup for this team. Scheme, philosophy, and plus top-notch execution by the Bengals did that today. Love our Bills, yet in both an honest and factual statement, the road to return with free agents, Josh's salary, and some poor coaching and execution makes for a tough road. Doable...yes...but the past three seasons have had windows open that don't open often. -
That's because Edmund's is a solid player but the knock is he is a tick behind on instincts and processing. Would I want him back? Absolutely? Do I want him back for 15+ million per? No...not unless that comes with an O-Line, a 2nd receiver, a healthy Von Miller, and 2 new coordinators.

I like Flores as a coach. I am not so sure about all of his offseason claims, but he certainly would expect Murray to come prepared. While Flores is at it, grab Colin Kaepernick as Coach. Flores, Murray, and Kaepernick would make for some exciting Hard Knocks coverage!!

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Wizard replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
Like other commentors have said, if the Bills can keep the turnovers down to one (1) or less and not allow for multiple very short fields for Cincinnati, Bills ought to win. Bengals are a good team, and I believe they match up better against the Bills than the Chiefs do this year. If both teams play their best football, Bills are a better team overall. As in all games, but especially this one, OL/DL play will determine a handful of plays that determine the outcome with injuries as well as a general weakness on both offensive lines. If there is a confidence meter, I will go 70%. Should be a good game within a score. Buffalo 24 and Cincinnati 20 -
Grateful for a win! We were good enough today. I had many people insinuate that my post on needing a Dominating win was not necessary. That's true...a win is a win. Still...my post was accurate in that a game like today will be this team's last game of the season if we follow the recent trends. 1. The team gets lead and then handout costly turnovers and aren't putting teams away. 2. The defense has become much more vulnerable as playoff offenses are more potent usually and Tre White (currently is a liability.) 3. Poor time management and use of timeouts are baffling. 4. The offensive line is a wreck. I know this post will get lots of negative emojis, but the Bills need a dominant win or at least quality play in all three phases. Set fandom aside for a moment (not completely possible, of course), and other than Josh Allen's abilities and our shared love for the Bills, did this game boost confidence? Frazier, Dorsey, and McDermott got to figure it out. Despite the many wins, passion, and talent on this team, today's game should be a reminder that excellent fundamental football is needed to get past round 2. Good enough to win today, yet we got to be great/dominate going here on out.

With Mostert hurt, Tua out, Damar's great news, an unknown rookie for the Dolphins starting at QB, and the fact that Buffalo is at home, the Bills need a Dominating Win! The kind of win where other teams watch and media say, "damn, the Bills are firing on all cylinders." With a 13 point spread, I want the offense, defense, and coaching to preach being aggressive and putting this game away early. A Dominating Win to me has to be 14+ in this situation. A Dominating Win would look like: 3+ sacks 2 or more turnovers 250+ yards for Allen No fumbles or interceptions thrown 100+ rushing yards 7+ points in the 3rd quarter Up by 14 or more entering the 4th quarter Piling it on at the start of the 4th Seeing to it that key starters are out of the game halfway through the 4th. This is the kind of game I expect if Buffalo wants to compete and let other teams know that the Bills always circle the wagons! Time for a thorough, complete, and dominating win heading to the Divisional Round! Bills 34 Dolphins 10

How is Skip Bayless employed as a sport analyst??
Wizard replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah...he is annoying, but so is Stephen A Smith, Dan Patrick, and almost all of these talking heads. Both you and I know their names though, and we have obviously done some listening, so good for them for making a lot of money doing what we do but with advertising dollars and large forums. My local guy in Colorado was so nauseating. After 6 months of hearing his schtick about the backup left guard, the below average minor league relief pitcher, or the 11th man off the bench in basketball, I knew he was grasping for material and lessened my intake. I can't lie though. I did love hearing him bash on how much Russell Wilson sucks now, was a system QB, and he is completely fake with his NFL persona! -
Josh Allen finishes the 2022 regular season with...
Wizard replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen had a top 5 QB year. I'd like to see a reasonable jump like this for sustained playoff appearances and a closer look at MVP. 4,700+ passing yards 40 touchdown passes 10 or fewer interceptions 8 or fewer fumbles -
No...The AFC and NFC Championship game should be played by the team with the best record in the respective conference that is still in the playoffs. As has been said, there is no perfect solution as a result of the necessary cancellation of the Bills/Bengals game. When the Bills beat the Patriots, they are the #2 seed. If the Bengals have the best record in their division, they should get unquestionably a home game and no coin flip in any scenario. Unfortunately, the Bills and Bengals receive the shorter stick in this playoff neutral site/count flip debacle. The Chiefs and Ravens get an added benefit.

Both a Champion's Mentality and the Underdog Mentality make up a team's attitude and the way players approach the psychological preparation for a game. What approach do you prefer for the Bills? Do you want them to primarily be the hungry, scrappy, and we are glad to be fighting Underdog? Or, do you want them to be the confident, we have the skill and experienced champion approach with steady nerves like they've been there? Each style is part of what defines a team's ability to thrive. success. Which approach do you feel would be most helpful for this Buffalo team? For me, I want some fire in the belly and seeing disciplined but hunger and scrappy play. Give me the chip on the shoulder Underdog Mentality for this team.

The Athletic: Bills QB room article - includes AFC East QB shade
Wizard replied to stevewin's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great article and insight. Thanks for sharing. -
I see Coach Payton going to Tampa Bay. Easy division right now. Fournette, Godwin, and Evans gives him a great start. Good defense. Good weather and no state income tax (coaches probably similiar to players on home games, I would guess). He is likely #1 coach available and can choose where to go. Compared to Denver's QB mess and lack of draft picks, Indy's owner, and other openings, this seems to be most favorable. Brad

Week 16, 12/24/2022, Bills v. Bears, GAME BALLS
Wizard replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know it's considered heresy, but it is sometimes a good thing when neither Allen or Diggs deserve an automatic game ball. Neither did. That's okay against the Bears but not against the Bengals next week or playoffs. With that said, GAME Balls: 1. Motor 2. Cook 3. Defensive line containing Fields 4. Defensive Coaching Staff/Scheme -
Bills open as 1.5 point favorites against Bengals(O/U 49)
Wizard replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just about any time two teams are have similar records, both playing well, and both top 5 QB's, I would as a bookmaker look at the Bengals being about a field goal favorite. Lived in Nevada for 7 years and this was kind of the standard line of a 2 point spread with home field usually determining the small spread swing. -
MVP; Hurts / Allen / Mahomes by the numbers...
Wizard replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let's get the Trophy! Mahomes gets league MVP. Hurts has had a great season worthy of MVP consideration. Allen is the most important player on his team. -
Yes...holding onto the football and making some of those short passes are his next hurdles (which Allen always clears). He is the most talented QB in the league. A championship and a little growth each year will make him an all-time great!

I’m starting to get extremely frustrated with Dorsey.
Wizard replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
My frustration is this 3rd Quarter trend where they struggle offensively, take very long to make adjustments, and other teams get back into games. Fortunately, Allen's passing, running, and his ability to extend plays keep the team winning. I am hoping that this 3rd quarter trend does turn into an Achilles heel against a quality opponent in a seesaw playoff battle. -
Rank your top 7 post week 14 WR pecking order.

1. Jefferson 2. Hill 3. Adams 4. Diggs Any combo of Waddle, Lamb, Chase, etc -
Every player and team is banged up with nicks, bruises, and playing hurt to some degree. The last 6 or so weeks we have seen a "good" but not the "great" Josh Allen we are accustomed to seeing the past two seasons. How is his health actually? Do we have any update on progression with the UCL injury? I ask because I feel some part of the board feels the offense has fallen off the cliff and is now a middle-of-the-pack offense. That opinion definitely has some merit. Another group of posters feel that Allen is improving each week, but he has not had that MVP -type game in awhile and preach patience. Other posters remind us to relax and recognize the team is winning despite injuries and Allen's recent stretch of mortal level play. The team is winning though it is not always pretty. Anyone know anything about UCL injuries? What is a reasonable expectation for Allen's performance going forward? Is the offense the past 6 weeks what the Bills will likely be until Allen has an offseason of recovery and Dorsey a full season as the OC? Go Bills!

One game at a time. Great week to get healthy too and work out the kinks on offense and defense. Let's go Buffalo! I BILLIEVE
