  1. He tore his ACL late into the year last season, I think he may have a chance to be a productive player in 2024 given that players often take until two seasons after an ACL to return to form or at least somewhat closer to their form. Also the cap ramifications of cutting him in 2024 don’t add up, his 2025 dead cap is much more manageable at just 15 million which can be spread across two years. I think the Bills know Von coming back this season at a good form was unlikely hence the Floyd signing. I hoped that maybe after the bye we could really know what he has but it’s been weeks since the bye and he looked a little better but still far off from where he needs to be. Genuinely asking, how has Kingsley looked? I didn’t see him much but I wasn’t keying in on him either.
  2. I think they were hoping Kincaid or one of the WR’s would fall. When all the WR’s got scooped up they pounced to get Kincaid
  3. That’s pretty much the last time that’s occurred, it’s very rare a QB would get hurt on one.
  4. In the draft it’s always about context. The Bills in 2023 were just short of getting the “round 1” WR’s so they traded up a few spots to take the best TE. If you can’t get a WR worthy of that selection trade down or address another need and trade up in round 2 to take another one. It’s all gonna depend on where you draft and whose available When you draft in the first 2 rounds you are looking to address needs in short order.
  5. I wouldn’t hate a “double dip” at WR assuming Gabe walks but I think with the emergence of Shakir its probably better to take a WR round 1 and then take a WR in the mid rounds. With Kincaid/Knox at TE you can be good with just taking one WR high up. I think ideally you take a WR round 1 then address a defensive need in round 2 before going back on offense with the round 3 comp pick.
  6. After getting back AJE, Hyde, and Daquon the Bills are at full health on defense. The only players out on long term injury are Tre and Milano and Tre’s production has been replaced by Douglas. I think the in season additions of Douglas and Joseph really helped turn around the unit. The team was having massive issues at pass coverage at the boundary and up the middle against the run. Douglas and Joseph alleviated those issues a lot. This has been the best in season management in the McD era.
  7. I have to think that McD is the only true “rival” he has had in the AFC East as a coach. So I think there has to be some respect there.
  8. Also the Bills probably would have put up 3 more points on offense had they not run off the clock. But the Pats defense did their best to try to hold them in the game but the Bills offense did enough. I can’t think of a team in the Josh Allen era that can consistently run an effective 4 minute offense. The Bills took over the ball with 5ish minutes left and the Pats had all their timeouts plus the two minute warning. And the Bills not only grounded down the clock to zero but also got in field goal range.
  9. Josh said he was fine, a non throwing shoulder stinger is not the worst injury he just may need to rest it for the week.
  10. It wasn’t even that close of a game after the sloppy start the Bills had a two possession lead most of the way. And when they had to they made the plays they needed.
  11. Josh said in the presser it was a left shoulder stinger. I think he’s fine. The Pats have a good defense they did a good job of making it hard on the offense.
  12. I didn’t think this one was that “ugly” they ran out the clock and after the bad start almost always had the lead they just didn’t shut the door when they had the chance into that last drive.
  13. The thing is that when he was out the run defense did generally speaking suffer but the run defense at times when he played also did get gashed up the middle too. He was so up and down in terms of plugging the run defense. It’s one thing if he is just was an elite run stuffer whose stats were fairly low. We have seen Joseph not have eye popping stats but the Bills have been a lot harder to run up the middle on since he signed. You can’t have very limited pass rush upside and be inconsistent in stuffing the run and be on a massive contract. I was so glad the team signed D Jones to replace him.
  14. McD didn’t outright say Milano was not coming back (I think his exact words were “doesn’t look good”) but yeah given that the average recovery time for players with the same injury who have surgery is 8 months it was always a long shot for Milano. Banged up Bills had a good write up about it. Banged up Bills basically said that only 2 players who had the same surgery for the same injury came back before the 6 month mark (those players took about 10 weeks) but those were extreme outliers. So it was always a long shot for Milano unfortunately I like a safety who plays better in coverage, I think while run support for a safety is valuable I think that run support is more so the job of the front 6-7 and slot corner. Whereas a lot of big plays in the passing game can be let up with poor coverage.
  15. Agreed, Star was supposed to be the big time anchor to the middle of the defense who could have some pass rush upside. The only time Star really to me played up to his massive deal was in the back half of 2019. For whatever reason he played well the last 6-7 games of the regular season and the lone playoff game. The run defense was much improved and he was pushing the pocket a bit. But Star opted out during the 2020 season and then came back to play in 2021 and was mediocre again.
  16. San Diego to LA is a three hour or so drive with some traffic. But it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get out of lots in and around SoFi stadium. So that’s likely 8 how’s hours worth of driving for a game if you live in San Diego. 99% of fans just aren’t doing that. So the Chargers pretty much lost their old fanbase (in terms of live attendance) and the market they moved to cares more about the Rams who have more history in the market and have been more successful on field. And even the Rams are still struggling a bit to gain traction. They should have never left San Diego. I know San Diego wasn’t willing to build a new stadium but they probably could have worked out a deal with the city (similar to what Seattle did with their new hockey/basketball arena) where they could have stayed and gotten the renovations to the stadium they needed
  17. In addition to the obvious upgrades at guard the complete turn around of Brown has massively helped. Brown was one of the worst tackles in the league last year. This season after a shaky start he has become a good RT. Dawkins has also turned in a much better season. Mitch has also been Mitch and that’s a good thing in terms of quality of play.
  18. I think Von has looked better since the bye but he still is far from where he needs to be, if/when the Bills make the playoffs the first game would be mid-January which would give Von 2.5 more weeks may or may not make a difference but it still is possible he can continue to make strides and at the very least be a player worthy of rotational snaps.
  19. Typical late season blowout. The Jets have just about packed it in for the season. Their defense pretty much knows that if they get down by two scores it is just about done. As good as their defense can be it is just not great enough to overcome complete incompetence at the QB position and a banged up offensive line. The Jets will have some pieces once Rodgers comes back next season. Hall is a great RB and Wilson a really good WR. They have some pieces but they got to get their offensive line sorted. The Browns much like the Bills are getting hot at the right time. Flacco is giving them just enough at QB and they have the defense and supporting pieces playing at an elite level.
  20. Miller did have 5 sacks in 8 games for the Rams in 2021. That's a 10 sack year in the 16 game season pace. So Von was still productive for the Rams in the regular season. Von of course came alive in the playoffs where he had a sack in each of their first two playoff games plus a pair of sacks in the Super Bowl. My hope is that the rust continues to fall off and that hopefully during a deep playoff run he is able to just make a few plays, I think having a two time champion and a SB MVP on the roster still has a lot of value.
  21. Glad they never had to use him because Spencer Brown has not only stayed healthy but also played really well. But I still hope they are able to sneak him back on the PS. Unlikely as the state of play in the NFL of offensive lines is so bad that some team is likely to want to pick him up for depth.
  22. And Joseph is still there eating blocks up the middle, so the defense will be much more stout up the middle.
  23. A lot of these coaches and GM’s are also going to have to either defend their current jobs or try to get other jobs. So trying to scratch out a couple more wins to frame the season a bit better is also a part of the equation. For example if the Giants win their last two games they finish the season at 7-10 and the narrative that Daboll can spin is that his team fought hard and despite the insane injuries they still won 7 games. A lot of these coaches and executives are thinking ahead and trying to get their resumes a little more polish.
  24. Bills just got to worry about beating the Pats and see what shakes out…
  25. Wilson is so freaking odd, he put in a fairly good season this past year despite the slow start they got back into it. It would be far easier for the Broncos to cut him after next season and they could simply draft a QB and give Russ the opportunity to start next season and then cut him in 2025 or 2026 when it would be easier to cut him cap wise.
