I understand that, but its not like the other backup OL players are that great, if there is an injury or garbage time I would like to see what Teller has. Then again this is just as a fan commenting on a message board. I have to trust that the coaches who see him every day probably know he isn't ready for prime time. It is just odd since Teller at least looked like a player capable of being active on game day during pre-season and from training camp reports. I at least hope they play him and the other young guard on the roster towards the end of the season assuming the last 2-4 games are completely meaningless.

I wouldn't be shocked to Shady traded, I think at this point if the Bills got a 3rd round pick offered they would take it and stack the middle of the draft and free up some more cap space for 2019. But I also would not be surprised if the team held onto him and kept him for 2019 hoping to maybe draft a RB in the mid rounds and have Shady/Ivory keep the seat warm for a rookie for one more season.

I kind of am shocked they didn't try and have Teller be active on game day by now. Maybe he isn't ready to start but I thought if there were garbage time snaps to be had they would want him active on game day to kick the tires and see what he has if the situation called for it. I hope the Bills by the end of the season toss him out there the last 3-4 games of the season. We know what Vlad and Miller are by now, it would be good to see the younger players get a shot to showcase themselves a little and get some experience.

You have to keep in mind the concussion protocol doctors are independent of the team, they don't give a ***** how badly a player is needed if his tests aren't good they yank them. Shady took a bad hit to the head and likely was pulled by the independent doctors.

Golden Tate would greatly help out the WR core and he would make a great role model. I also like the fact that he won a SB in Seattle, I think he would fit the culture the team is going for. Depending on how Zay finishes the season (Is he a viable WR3) I would also bring in John Brown or another speed oriented WR. The team can only draft so many pass catchers as they need both a future at tight end and a lot of help at WR so if Zay can't be relied on he should fight for a WR3 spot with a proven vet. I too like Saffold but I think the team can afford 2 big interior OL contracts and the free agent crop is stacked with high end interior OL. I would love to see Matt Paradis and Saffold be brought in even if it costs 25 million in cap space to do so both players would instantly stabilize the O-line. The team would still have plenty of space to take care of Lorax and Kyle/Phillips while still being able to maybe add one or two other players. Defensively I wouldn't mind them re-signing EJ Gaines if he hits the market and could be had. I know we want the team to spend big on the offense but if there was one position where the team could plug a hole on defense it is CB and Gaines played really well in the system. I wouldn't go crazy on Gaines but if he could be had for 7 million AAV or less I think that would be a good signing and keep the defense strong for a modest investment. My wish list would be resign Lorax and Kyle if he wants to come back if Kyle doesn't come back resign Phillips or both if Phillips has reasonable demands. Then after taking care of those players Matt Paradis (Big Spend), Roger Saffold (Big Spend), Daryl Willams (at the right price), Golden Tate (Modest to big spend), EJ Gaines (At the right price), John Brown (If Zay isn't someone you feel can handle the WR3 position, not sure yet have to let it play out.) and I would consider a RB like Tevin Coleman but I think the wish list is already crazy as is so RB probably will be addressed in the draft in the mid rounds if Shady is or isn't on the roster.

The WR crop is weak but they have to at least sign one decent veteran. Golden Tate would be a good place to start, he is a mid-level WR2, I also think John Brown would be a good second tier signing. But don't rule out the trade market either. The Bills have extra mid round picks they could maybe package for a vet WR out on the market. As far as resigning players go Lorax and Kyle should both be brought back if they want to play one more year. Jordan Phillips I would play by ear as I like what he brought so far but if he finishes the season strong the Bills might get priced out of the market for him (If Kyle comes back they have 3 solid DT's, how much do you pay for a 4th DT on the roster when you have 3 good ones?)The only offensive free agent worth possibly resigning is Mills but that will depend on how he does the rest of the year KB is as good as gone if he doesn't get traded. The rest of the defensive players are mostly depth guys somewhat worth resigning but no major losses. But where the Bills can really improve and get a good value for their cap space is along the interior OL even with Marpet resigning in Tampa there will be several quality guards and centers out on the free agent market. The Bills should sign at least 2 of the top interior OL players out on the market. Rodger Saffold although a bit older would make for a great signing. The Rams are up against the cap and Saffold is a top guard in the league, he would instantly stabilize the guard position for 2-3 seasons at least. I also like Jamon Brown from the Rams too, he isn't an elite center but he is good, he is also 25 so he could be a 4-6 year plug and play type player. Another great option at center is Matt Paradis from Denver who would have competed with Marpet as the top Center available in the draft. Paradis would give the team one of the best centers in the league. Another interesting option at RT is Daryl Williams coming off a huge injury but had two elite seasons in Carolina in 2016 and 2017. Personally I would target Paradis and Saffold at top AAV for their positions, adding both of them would instantly stabilize the O-line from LT-LG-C. I would see what Williams would command and if it isn't too crazy of an overpay and bonus commitment I would certainly add him and greatly help out the right side of the line. I honestly would have no problem committing 50 million in cap space to resigning Lorax and either Kyle or Phillips, and signing Saffold, Paradis, Golden Tate, and Daryl Williams. Spend your first and second round picks on pass catchers and draft a guard in the third round to help out the right side. 2019 is make or break for McBeane and they better act like it. There is no excuse to be conservative with this cap space and the ability to easily create 10-15 million more in cap space by cutting bums like Dimarco.

Gruden has a method to his madness. He knew the core of Carr, Mack, and Cooper while good was not going to win anything longer term esp given their cap situation wasn't so great and they were going to be locked into 3 massive contracts had they decided to pay Mack and Cooper. Carr is the last man standing and he will likely get shipped out for a package of picks too. It is possible Carr could net 2 first round picks and more. Assuming Carr goes for a flat 2 first round picks he will have turned the trio of Mack, Cooper, and Carr into 5 first round picks over 2 drafts. That's the type of draft capital that a guy with a 10 year contract could use to build a sustained contender. Combine that with the fact that the Raiders will be able to clear cap space and rid themselves of any remaining bad contracts in 2019 and you can see the Raiders plan to get super competitive quickly in Oakland. He can probably get 2 more firsts for Carr and have 7 first round picks in 2 years. If he hits on a rookie QB and finds 3-4 elite pieces with those picks look out because they will have the cap space sooner rather than later to add a lot of talent just in time for their Vegas move.

Gruden is doing what a coach with a 10 year contract should be doing. Mack and a second round pick netted 2 first round picks and a third round pick. Amari Cooper netted a first round pick, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Carr get traded and net a first round pick and an additional premium selection. The Raiders have 5 first round picks in the next two drafts. It is possible that they could trade Carr for two more firsts and end up with 7 first round picks over the course of two drafts. Gruden basically bought his own process 2 years of rebuilding while they are still in Oakland. The Raiders might suck this year and next year but once they get rid of their big contracts and eat the dead money in 2019 they will be primed to do exactly what the Rams did the past two off-seasons and that's stack a roster with a ton of talent around a rookie QB (assuming they trade Carr which I think is likely.) The Raiders might have a top 3 selection this year and they could easily trade up to get whatever QB they want and still have 1-2 more first round picks to play with along with an early second round pick. Once they clear dead cap in 2019 they will have 2-3 more first round picks and a ton of cap space come 2020. Overall if any other coach was doing this they would be praised for taking good players like Cooper and Carr and turning them into a horde of draft picks. Even Mack a truly elite player worth the picks they received was a necessary sacrifice to build a contender long term instead of being mired in mediocrity. I do hope Carr ends up on a good team, if the Giants could fix their O-Line he could do wonders for them (Giants have elite players in Barkley and Odell, Sheppard and Engram are solid complementary pieces too), that unfortunate leg injury coupled with bad personnel decisions really set Carr's career back.

Some team might sign him in the off-season to kick the tires. But he is going to have to prove he is good off the field before some team even gives him a camp spot.

2019 is the make or break year for McBeane. But the one thing I do like about McBeane over all other regimes since 1999 is that McBeane looks like he knows how to draft. Yes the jury is still out but it looks like the 2017 and 2018 drafts could net 6-8 starters (Depending on how Allen and Zay pan out.) White, Dawkins, and Milano are studs, I think deep into year two we can say they are good starting caliber players. Edumonds, Phillips, and Johnson look to be good players who will be a part of the defense for years to come. Even Zay Jones a player most have written off could be salvageable. Of course Allen will in the end make or break their careers but time will tell on him. Getting 6 starters in 2 drafts is better than most back to back draft classes this team has had during the drought years. Even free agency has looked better as Star, Murphy, and Ivory (The 3 out of the 4 biggest contracts they handed out in 2018, Vonta was a bust but a 75% hit rate ain't bad on contracts over 3 million aav) all look to be productive players. I know 2017 was McD and Whaley but they brought in Hyde, Proyer, and Haush 3 productive players. I think given what they set out to do they have the cap space and one additional draft class to make things work in 2019 and it is make or break unless this season magically turns around.

Jacksonville could have a good enough defense where a QB that doesn't turn the ball over and makes some plays with his legs could be a winning formula. Tyrod avoids turnovers and makes plays with his legs. In 2007 when the Jags went 11-5 they had David Gerrad who basically just managed games and let a great defense handle things. Blake turns the ball over and doesn't really use his legs that great even though he has some mobility. If I am the Jags I toss The Browns a 4th for Tyrod, you can ***** on Tyrod all you want to but he was a competent QB who if asked to manage a game could be successful. Personally I don't know how good or bad Daboll is because I don't know if there is any scheme that can get much out of the current offensive group. My best guess is to give Daboll the rest of the season to see if he improves but I would not be shocked or disappointed to see him gone in the off-season. I don't think there are many teams Tyrod would help but Jacksonville might be the one team where Tyrod would represent and upgrade (Because of how bad Bortles is) and Tyrod's conservative game would fit with how the team plays (Avoid Turnovers, let the defense and the running game win the game, maybe Tyrod makes a few plays with his legs.) I think Tyrod ventures off into being a high end backup or a starter for a team with a rookie the rest of his career but if there was one team that might actually benefit from kicking the tires on him it would be the Jags.

I think its one and the same. McBeane sold ownership on a 3 year plan. The first two years were going to be spent selling off the assets and expensive contracts brought in under Rex/Whaley for draft picks. By year 2 they would have a rookie QB but probably not be ready to compete. By year 3 they would have the critical pieces in place and the cap space needed to up the talent level on the roster. Overall I think they made a smart decision to commit to a deep rebuild with a coach and GM that had a vision. They overachieved in year 1 and that upped the expectations in year 2 but people over estimating the talent level on the roster has a lot of fans but hurt. Not that McBeane hasn't mismanaged the QB position but the offense would still be bad had they kept AJ McCaron.

It is not in McD's process to outright tank. However they seem to be in a "Soft Tank" mode (That is try to win as much as possible but do not make aggressive moves to improve the roster to try and squeak out one extra win which wouldn't be very helpful) which kind of stands by what they did the previous year (Trading Sammy and Darby for picks but taking back players like EJ and Matthews to help compete.) I do think that the defense will be good enough to win 3-4 more games (I think they at least split the Jets and Fins games while sneaking 1-2 other games) for this team which would put them between 5-6 wins. That's not going to net a massive pick but it should put them well within the top 10 draft wise where they can find a dynamic offensive player hopefully.

If they hand out 3 big contracts on offense (Let's say 8 million AAV or more per player) and 2-3 other mid-level contracts (4-7 million AAV) then that along with an additional draft class should be enough to acquire the needed improvements to the offense and patch whatever holes remain on defense. It won't be a team with Super Bowl expectations but it will be a team that on paper will carry playoff expectations. Now I don't think they necessarily need to make the playoffs but the expectations will be to take a top 5-10 defense in the league and an offense that had a lot of talent added to at least 8 or more wins. If they make the moves we think they can make on offense and they continue to draft strong and all they can come up with is a 6-10 season then I don't know how you don't replace the regime. I think if they go 8-8 or better McD gets one more season at least but 7-9 or worse that is hard to come back from given the rebuilding they sold ownership on (By 2019 they will have had the time necessary to bring in their drafts/free agents and turnover the roster.)

The Bills are going to have to play a masterful and lucky (A lot of turnovers are luck) defensive game and they are going to have to take some risks on the offensive end. If I were Darboll I would run a lot of aggressive trick plays and just go for it offensively. You have to play this game like you have nothing to lose offensively and on special teams. Break out your bag of tricks and hopefully you crack 2 or 3 big plays. I don't foresee a win on Monday night happening. Maybe if Allen was healthy they could have a punchers chance if you squint your eyes. However I don't see it happening this time.

If McD goes 6-10 with a much better roster in his third year as coach then I think he is a goner. It is hard for any coach to survive 2 out of 3 seasons being losing seasons especially when the second losing season will likely come with a roster expected to contend or at least have a winning record. If this team finishes with a 5-6 win season and the defense proves to be a top 5-10 unit then I think assuming they bring in significant offensive free agents and another draft class then the expectations for 2019 will be much much higher. I think McD sold ownership on a 3 year plan to begin with and if 3 years in they are coming off of back to back losing seasons then I can't see how they are retained.

If 2019 is a losing season I think McD is gone. In 2019 they will have 3 draft classes and enough cap space to infuse the team with talent they will have no excuses to lose. The defense is already there and they have the resources to infuse the offense with significant talent. I think 2019 is make or break for McD

I think the odds of McD getting fired are slim to none. The defense should power the team to 3-4 more wins and a 5-6 win season coming off a 9-7 playoff appearance is hardly enough cause to fire someone. Even if the team goes 3-13 or 4-12 they probably won't fire McD as I think the circumstances to which the team was constructed make 2019 the season they set up to be successful. I don't see Mahomes success on a loaded offense as a reason to fire McD. Passing on Mahomes might go down as a massive mistake but you can't fire McD because a player had success on another team. That's very silly and very arbitrary. If you just look at what McD will have likely accomplished in his first 2 seasons I think McD warrants a third season as head coach and considering the moves they made (clearing all that dead cap and trading players for draft capital, making two trade ups with said capital) I think they were assured a third season by ownership.

I hate to break it to you but McD is the coach for 2019. You don't gut a lot of the players that can help you win now for picks and future cap space if your weren't promised the chance to use those picks and cap space in 2019. It's also not like McD wasn't coming off of a good season where he broke a playoff drought. You can be skeptical of McBeane to use the space and picks effectively to build an offense to go along with a good defense but make no mistake they are getting one more year. Ah my bad.

I don't see why DeFilippo is such a hot prospect, the Vikings have a good offense but they also have a lot of talent. It's also only the first year he has handled the offense. I honestly don't know much about Riley but I am always skeptical about the ability of college coaches to translate well into the NFL as head coaches. Out of that list I honestly don't know why most of them are considered by the writer to be "hot prospects." Kris Richard coordinates a Dallas passing game that isn't very good even when factoring in the lack of WR talent. A Pats LB coach isn't inspiring since defensive Billy B coaches almost never do well. The Titans offense stinks why would their coordinator be in line to be a head coach? ] The Rams coaches and Campbell from NOLA are interesting and I get why they would be considered coaching prospects.

You need talent to win, but you also need a culture and structure for that talent to fit into. Both from a general locker room perspective and from a X's and O's perspective. I think the Dead Cap and Trade ups for Allen and Edumonds made the ability to build a 2018 roster compromised. They had to go cheap at O-line and WR and the team handled the QB situation poorly (Maybe the biggest sin.) 2019 will be the season where they have no excuses. Their young cheap rookie QB is in place, they have the cap space, and they have another draft class to build the talent along the offense and patch some defense needs if they exist.

I honestly would like to see Tyrod get traded to Jacksonville. Bortles stinks and he is holding the team back with his turnovers and general bad play. Tyrod would protect the ball and make just enough plays with his legs to buy the offense some first downs. Basically Tyrod would be a cheap way to improve their QB play. Right now Bortles doesn't allow that team to play the football that makes them successful. Granted their defense hasn't been crushing it either but at least a risk averse QB with the ability to move the chains with his legs might just be "good enough" for the Jags to make a run at the playoffs if their defense can get on track.

The only issue is what if a pass rusher is by far and away the best player available and there isn't a trade down? It might be plausible that if the Bills draft in the top 3 a pass rusher might be the prospect worth taking (If you had the 4th overall pick in this years draft do you take the elite defensive prospect in Ward or Chubb or do you massively reach for a receiver?) It might be more palatable to take a pass rusher at or near the top of the draft if there is a big spending spree on the offensive side of the ball and the 2nd and 3rd round picks are invested into the offense as well. If the Bills go out and sign 2 solid veteran WR's and 2 interior O-line players it makes it easier to put a big investment into the defense like that. I do hope there is a trade down available but that might not be the case.

KB did look like our best receiver against Indy. I think if KB has a strong showing on Monday KB's stock might actually improve enough to net a pick higher than a 6th. Also factor in that KB's deal unlike Parker and Thomas (the other two primary receivers out on the trade market now that Cooper is in Dallas) expires at the end of the season whereas Parker and Thomas both have steep price tags. I think you might be able to get a team willing to kick a 5th on a short term win now rental of KB. That being said I think McD likely keeps KB seeing as the return could be as low as a 6th or 7th rounder.
