All-22 Grades for Bills/Saints (The Athletic)

I guess, or maybe it just shows the futility of this kind of micro-analysis without knowing anyone's assignments or even the play design beyond the most basic level. -
All-22 Grades for Bills/Saints (The Athletic)

I see good grades from "The Ford Report" (with posters calling people who doubt Ford like Joe B biased) and bad grades from The Athletic. Did they watch different games? 😂 -
The Ford Report - Week 12, Bills v. Saints, 11/25/21

The All-22 gave ford a much lower grade. This seems to be a pattern with outside evaluators coming up with lower grades for both Ford and Edmunds. What do you think is the explanation? -
I like him, but it’s tough to see how he could be graded higher than Oliver or Lotulelei.

Depending on what happens with Sanders and Beasley, WR might be #1 -

To be fair, this was said at last weeks press conference. I doubt he will say that at today's. But it was definitely on my mind watching the game. I know you can't appear to panic when things are going wrong but a plan B and plan C should really be part of the game plan. You should have a plan practiced and ready for all contingencies; for when things are going well and for "when you're down at halftime, with your starting QB injured, and it's raining cats and dogs and the equipment man forgot the rain gear" (to paraphrase Bear Bryant). -

Probably taking some time to calm down so he doesn't say something stupid at the PC. -

Interestingly, at Fraziers PC, he was asked about making adjustments during games and he said that they try not to make major changes during games because it creates doubt in the players minds about the game plan. I was thinking of that today as the Colts ran the ball right down their throats the entire game with apparently no adjustments at all by the defense. -

Daboll doubled down on his philosophy at his press conference this week. He downplayed the value or need for "balance" and kept saying that they will do whatever it takes each week, whether that's passing on every play or running on every play. What's odd is that passing on every play always seems to be the answer. Actually, if you think about the OL and RBs that they have then maybe it's not so odd. -
I think the strategy of investing big in the OL is sound. The problem is that they haven't really cashed in on their investment.

Why? Would him trying to fight fans prove that he coaches physical football teams? This doesn't make any sense. -

This is exactly it and it's not just the lines. The Bills are not a physical football team. Their defense is built to defend the pass, has only one real "run stuffer" in their front 7 and plays nickel as their base scheme, meanwhile they run a spread, pass happy offense with no running game. -

Turnovers are usually a product of being under constant duress. If you are losing and having to press, getting poor blocking, dealing with unfavorable weather, facing difficult down and distances, etc. then you have a higher tendency to turn the ball over. You can't look at the turnovers in a vacuum like they were an isolated cause of the loss. -
Couldn't agree more.

The thing that frustrates me the most is the total lack of adjustments by the defense. Indy basically came out with plan A and that's all it took. With all their coaches, top players, experience playing together, etc. they couldn't change the game at all. -

Their pass rush has been consistent all season, but the run defense has been spotty. Not sure if that's on the personnel or the scheme. -

According to Frazier at this week's press conference, they played their 4-3 as their base defense in one game this season- the Titans game. -

They did play their 4-3 vs the Titans and that didn't do any good. I think it's the DL. They have to be more stout vs the run. -

lol. How many wake up calls do they need? -
Whether you consider Davis a disappointment depends on your opinion of him coming into the season. I saw plenty of posts declaring that the Bills didn’t need Sanders because Davis was going to step right in as the new #2, and how he was going to take most of Sanders reps anyway. However at this point there is no comparison. Whether Sanders is better than expected or Davis is not quite as good is debatable, but it looks like a little of both to me.
