  1. Right. I don't understand. You can think you see lots of reasons in intangibles but his play on the field last season was at least of backup quality. Cutting him before camp even started and leaving no viable LT backup from day 1 doesn't sound like a good plan, but you obviously think otherwise. I hope it works out, but if it does it's really just luck because there is apparent backup plan.
  2. Worse than Henderson has looked? I seriously doubt it. He was good enough last season that many on this board were advocating that the Bills move Glenn to RT so that the Bills have their best 5 linemen on the field. Now he suddenly stinks so bad that he can't even be a backup? It sounds more like sour grapes to me.
  3. Not until week 10 though right?
  4. Probably grab someone after the last round of cuts but honestly, Ola may be the best possible if Glenn can't go. Too bad they don't still have Kouandjio.
  5. I didn't know Chad Henne was still around the NFL.
  6. A lot comes down to the DL. If they can dominate then this concept will work fine. If not then there will be a lot of bending...
  7. Sounds like he'd fit right in. Go fet him!
  8. It would take a lot breaking their way. Probably more that is reasonable to hope for. But it's not crazy. They're really not that much different from a team that was basically .500 last season.
  9. It keeps the other teams guessing. All part of the master plan.
  10. True enough. I guess I only remembered to 16-0 season. But even so, he didn't have the same QB play over his career so I'll stay with him. Rice was great and I was a big 49er fan and you can definitely argue that he was a better all around WR, but it's tough to get the frequent highlight reel catches that Moss made out of my mind. He was at least the greatest downfield receiver of his era.
  11. Yup. In his only season playing with a top QB he set the all time NFL touchdown record. Imagine if he had played with Montana and Young his entire career like Rice did. I remember John Madden saying once that even if Randy Moss is double covered on a deep route you should still throw it to him because he'll make the play more often than not.
  12. Remember when Sean Merriman got hurt on the first play after he signed with the Bills? That's still the record.
  13. is this the greatest franchise to be a fan or or what?
  14. Slipped on a mat on his way to the locker room.
  15. Already? Man the Dolphins really are getting hammered with some bad luck.
  16. True enough about Calvin Johnson. You can look at Moulds here in Buffalo as well. But they didn't need these picks to get a QB. They had plenty of draft capital to move up if they wanted to with their two #1. The key to getting a top QB at this point is identifying the right one. If they had a HOF WR waiting for him then that would have only helped.
  17. Sammy should have been a devastating #1 WR in the new offense. But for some reason the staff didn't think it would happen. Maybe it's their opinion of the Bills QB play or maybe it's his injury history. Who knows.
  18. This is why I don't think this is about QB either. This is simply an evaluation of Sammy's future, IMO.
  19. If Sammy becomes a HOF receiver and the Bills become a playoff team without him then that's great, but it wouldn't be because they traded Sammy. Trading HOF players as they are about to enter their prime is not how you improve your team.
  20. The west coast passing game is about running after the catch. So deep speed is not quite as valuable as it was last season in the 1960s scheme. Size and running ability are more important. However, you really don't want "possession" receivers, if that means that they just catch the ball and get tackled right away. We'll see how the current group fit in. Sadly, Sammy was the best west coast receiver on the roster.
  21. Yeah. The only way this trade works out for the Bills is if Watkins has long term injury issues with his foot. Otherwise, the Rams scored big time. Luckily the Bills hosed the Eagles so that makes it all hurt a little less. A little.
  22. Giving Beane and McDermott the benefit of the doubt, you have to assume that they don't think Watkins will fulfill his potential to turn into an elite WR. Otherwise the trade makes little sense to me. They could easily have kept him by picking up his option or franchising him after a good year. McDermott basically said this at his PC. When asked if the team would be worse in 2017 due to this trade, he responded that you could make arguments either way. That said it all to me regarding his thoughts on Watkins. If he doesn't think that Watkins will be better than Matthews this season then of course trading him for Matthews PLUS a draft pick is a no brainer.
