He was high on many teams boards. Chances are that his lack of performance is related to his knee injury. Give him time to get healthy and I think he will be a solid 1 or 2 down player in a 3-4 system.

Exact thing happened to me. After 3 years I took the hit and sold it. Probably a wise move but I still miss it... when running well it was a dream. Now, 10 years later, I think about doing the same crazy thing all over again.

K Williams will probably retire after this season, Dareus will likely be gone the season after that when his contract makes it possible and Lawson hasn't looked like anything special so far. I think they need at DT/DE in the top 3.

Why did these coaches settle on a scheme that few of the players fit into? Practically no one fits the new offense so they are basically going to have to start from scratch there over the next two or three years. And on defense people say that the a Bills have 4-3 personnel because of the DL. But what happens next year when K Williams retires and Dareus gets dumped? Still 4-3 personnel? They don't have 4-3 LBs and dumped Darby and Gilmore to get zone corner backs. I suspect at least 3/4 of the defense will be rebuilt over then next 3 years as well.

Actually, Thomas was drafted after the 1987 season. But they had Andre Reed, Cornelius Bennett, Shane Conlan and Darryl Talley in 1987. Essentially every core player except Thomas from the Super Bowl teams. So you are right that they aren't even close to 1987.

Let's face reality- it's only a matter of time before he is shipped out or leaves. The only thing holding him here for now is his contract structure so the minute there's a way out of that I suspect he will depart.

Truth. But the interesting thing is that it's basically the same OL as last season with the exception of Glenn, and he missed some time, so the problem should be solvable with competent coaching.

It appears that no tanking may be necessary to secure the top pick overall. They're not quite there yet but they're certainly headed in the right direction.
